What do you want from Persona 5 ? Here's my take.

It should most importantly be different. The small differences between P3 and P4 were okay for one sequel, but I expect at least a difference like P2->P3 for P5. Not sure what they should change, though.

I've never heard of this rumour and I'm certain that it is completely unfounded, as Atlus hasn't said anything on the game except for the statement that they are working on it.

May be I read too far into the "whole new engine" thing, and I just assumed. So yeah, that was probably me making that up. Oh well.

Personally I really hope Persona 5 has nothing to do with 3 or 4, setting wise/character wise/etc etc. Make way for a new cast/adventure/mystery.

Setting doesn't really matter to me as long as there are lots of interesting characters... I just want the devs to feel inspired by whatever setting they choose and really make it feel alive (they seem to get better with this every version so I'm happy there)

I would like more control over party members and more variety in their affinities. One possibility would be giving party members 2 personas to swap between or some kind of leveling tree where they can branch into a second element type eventually. Maybe you can bring them to the velvet room and have them "evolve" their persona. Basically, I don't want to be forced into choosing between two characters because they have the same element.

If they're gonna keep the dating sim element, I'd like to see that given more attention. If MC is getting romantic with someone, there should be a point in the relationship where they become a couple and the rest of the characters respond to that. Then maybe you go through a break up later. Maybe there's some cheating going on. Something to make this more interesting.

Lastly, the dungeons need an overhaul. It would be more interesting if the combat zone was more of an outside space than just endless corridors. The P3P cinematics where they're outside during the midnight hour look awesome. I'd wanna run around the whole city during a midnight hour-type alternate reality.

Why do people in P5 threads keep asking for a college setting when multiple posters have already mentioned that the Japanese college experience isn't all that compared to the West? If they're not going to attempt a post-ed setting a la Catherine, the series may as well stick to high school.

Why do people assume that everyone reads everything on Neogaf ? And if you took the time to read my OP, you'd see that college isn't the only thing I propose. Because as is, you just sound like a smartass.

No more of the fluff and the fan service that P4G added please.

This is another good one. A lot of it was tired and annoying too watch. Let's make a band? Okay, the game is already too much like Scooby Doo, draw the line at musical appearances of Josie and the Pussycats.

Also, please no shoe-horned characters. Marie was the worst. After three links, she lost all personality and I hated reading her god damned poetry, which, in NG+ they won't let you fucking skip. The only other thing in the game that you can't skip is a social link. You can fast forward the whole god damned social link, but not the flash and arcana card. And of course you can't skip the poetry IT'S INSIGHTFUL

I was just playing Catherine, watching a bar cutscene with the soft lights reflecting on the character models, sushi rolling by on the conveyor belt in front of Vincent, and thinking how I wished Persona looked like this when I clicked on this thread.

LOL at people still dreaming for college setting btw, What so special with college anyway, ask for working environment or something.
Because sex.

Man all this Catherine talk is making me want to go back and finish that game.

You'd still have P3 and P4 (in multiple versions). But with games that take about 70-100 hours, I don't want to play another just slightly different version.

I guess it depends what they change.

I feel like the idea of the P4 crew making a band is neat, but the execution of overwhelmingly awful. Made worse by the terrible anime cutscene. Even the song they chose to play was terrible.

Mega gross.

Because sex.

This reminds me: Less of the serious dating stuff they added in Golden. I liked how simplistic it was in P3 and P4, and how unobtrusive it was. Nothing explicit, take from it what you will, kind of thing. It was sweet.

"If you're going to take a part of me, take all of me" is just blerg.

Not possible for Chie at least. Her original VO actress doesn't do voice work anymore.

Not sure what the deal is with Teddie though.

Then recast her again. The new voice actor is like a pile of flaming trash next to a bunch of expensive furniture. Take care of it atlus.

Follow through with the true freedom ending of Catherine and set things in space!

That would be super refreshing.

I really like Chie's new VA and detested her original. The new one matches more Chie's personality, which is that of an outspoken energetic girl. The other one sounded like a 40-year old.

Also, I didn't even notice that Teddie had a new VA until it was pointed out to me. They both sound so similar.

- Completely new cast. Having some of the old crew show up briefly as cameos would be neat but I'd like to see an entirely fresh new cast with their own stories.

- Dungeon design improvements. Pretty much all of the games in the series (that I've played) had pretty boring dungeon design and while that wasn't a large focus in the scope of the later games, it would be nice to have something interesting for once.

- Keep social links in. Because waifus (and husbandos).

- I don't care if it's a school setting, college setting, or whatever, just make it interesting. Either type of setting can be really good if done well.

- Male and Female MCs would be cool. Like say, you choose one and the other appears in the game as a party member or NPC.

- More contextual dialogue from your party members and NPCs during the course of the game.

So considering TGS is nigh on done now, is Famitsu the most likely chance for announcement (do we know when new issues fof that are)? They have to announce before the end of the year if they're not going on PS4 right (which I'm 99% sure they won't, as they didn't with Persona 4 in the same situation this gen)?

Also I think I'm gonna go play Catherine again too lol, even though I 100%'d it I still play through that game again and again... easily one of my favourite games this gen. But man... gimme dat Persona 5...!

She's meant to be energetic, not hyperactive. A lot of the time, Fitzgerald took it way too far.

I liked the original actress more.

Well, the Persona community is small and dedicated enough for me to assume that most people interested in the sequel skim through every thread related to a sequel.

My comment wasn't aimed at you btw and I apologize if it seemed like it was.

The new chie sounds like an 8 yr old child given cocaine, not an outspoken person with any sort of brain.

P3 MC rescue storyline!

I want this badly, but not as Persona 5. Mainline game that goes balls to the walls combat, plot, and character building without being a numbered sequel and without S-Links as you control the P3 and P4 cast through hell and back? Yes please. Throw in the previous Persona casts too.

Fanservice galore? Don't care, give it to me.

New Chie has some shining moments as a VA...

... And then she sounds like part of her brain is made out of plywood. Almost every time she asks a question, it sounds like it's the hardest question in all of mankind. I mean seriously, if they wanted to get the point across that she's a bit slow, they went way too far. She has no idea what "inquisitive" means and thinks asking a question means you're half-retarded.

I just remembered something else I want: Other characters within the party to have relationships. It's really weird that everyone goes after the MC and anyone who doesn't get him/her just settles for being alone.

How many animes are based on the Japanese college experience?

And just because we're long out of high school, it doesn't mean that nobody is still in high school, and that they shouldn't have amazing games to play based around those shared experiences like we did.

I definitely want a more aduly setting like Catherine, but I'd settle for a new IP if Persona continues to be what it's been for years.

I'll still play the shit out of some HS game right now.

ME3 is a shitshow but the fact this happens in it is great

Some of you guys are going to be disappointed when we find out that P5 takes place in a highschool lol.

Also, adding more dpeth to the dating aspect of social links seems kinda too dating sim like for Persona IMO.

IWhat do you mean? Did i use the word incorrectly?

Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. owns Atlus now.

Sega Sammy Holdings is to Sega as to what Index was to Atlus.

Atlus is still the creative force that they were before. The only issue we have to worry about is if SSH decides to do some team shuffling, but I doubt we'll see that.

I'm not particularly picky when it comes to the story. They can have P5's protagonist be another male 2nd year high school Fool arcana transfer student with wild card and you won't get any complaints from me. They can even toss in a Priestess who can't cook, a loser Magician guy, etc and it still wouldn't phase me.

Or they can completely toss the formula and go with something new and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just don't want them to mess with the gameplay too much, especially the combat system. If they add back in SRPG elements or make it an action JRPG like Raidou or the Star Ocean series, I will cry.

Also would prefer a clean break in terms of characters from the previous games. A couple of (minor) cameos and allusions are alright, but I want a new cast.

People ask for non-high school settings and placing the story somewhere outside Japan all the time, to the point where it's almost a cliche topic in P5 discussions, but neither of those are especially important to me. In fact, as an American I'd probably rather it not be set in the USA. Because the stories are set in Japan, I can look past some of the social sim inaccuracies as "well I'm not Japanese so I dunno maybe that's really how it is over there". But if they set it in the US and let you join the band or a sports team, then let you get away with coming to practice once a month it will be hard for me to believe it.

NA localization. You better not fuck this up Sega.

I would love to see a return of the characters from Persona 4. I fell in love with that cast.

I'm sure Atlus is going the bring their A game with this game though so I don't really have any requests.

That doesn't change anything, even if you put it that way it's the same people that decided what Sega titles were localized that are now deciding if the Atlus tiltes will be.
Don't fool yourself in thinking Atlus could decide such things themselves

Oh and to be clear, my point was only regarding the localization.
