What do you want from Persona 5 ? Here's my take.

I want it on a handheld and I want it to have dungeons that were actually designed by people and not a computer that only knows how to make one-space-wide corridors and two-by-two square rooms.

Why aren't these games on 3DS? Gimme.

I have a feeling it's the Persona team's preference. Every other megaten series that is still ongoing is on 3DS now too, SMT, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor...

Meanwhile the Persona Series got their ENTIRE catalog potted to Sony handhelds.

- Darker theme and story like P3
- don't mind school but uni might be better
- a better combat system( I'm talking about how you engage into a battle)
- Obviously better graphics.
- Places to explore to be big, like a whole town and to be able to traverse large areas without loading screens
- Different arcs in the story
- More waifus and SC (meaningful ones too)
- Relationships to be more realistic so for instance its difficult to date more than one girl
- DUNGEONS OVERHAUL: a hospital, should be an actual hospital to explore full of shadows.
- Secret areas, weapons and Persona's available through only some SC's.
- Harder to max all stats for your character.
- Online play

Oh great another P5 thread ruined by people wishing it to be on their platform of choice.

Just please don't be 3DS exclusive.

I would prefer PS3/PS4/PSV but I'll take Wii U as well. I just don't want it to be on 3DS and be a step back from P4G.

Also indeed Social Links should have at least minimal infulence on story dialogue ect. Also both genders playable for more interesting New Game +

I personally do want the story connecting to previous games, but that's more suitable for something akin to a Persona: Shadow Operatives spinoff.

A cameo or return of the best MC

Vita version.

I know it's almost certainly going to be a PS3 game at this point, but I would very much like to see a Vita port at some point if it can't be there at launch. Only way I could play a game like Persona these days I think.

I want it to be announced. Soon, preferably. And no it's not getting announced at the VGAs OP, lol.

I want:

-Nice, clean stylized graphics closer to replicating Soejima's style. Catherine+ as someone stated. Something that looks like this...

p3p.jpg

...But of course in 3D and within the limits of the console would be nice. Valkyria Chronicles has a somewhat similar look to its graphics.

-Awesome Meguro music.

-A faster battle system. I want it to be like Nocturne speed.

-No more random dungeons. If any SMT game can get hand-crafted dungeons, Persona should as well. Not that I'd complain that much about random dungeons since I still enjoyed the dungeon crawling in 3, and particularly 4, but yeah.

-Fully voice acted S. Links.

-Larger areas.

-No missable sidequests!

-A solid postgame, instead of just an optional boss on NG+ being pretty much all you get.

Long, thoughtful OP.

I would love P5 to have

- Catherine+ graphics
- older characters
- no more random dungeons
--thoughtfully designed, challenging dungeons
- fewer anime tropes and anime ridiculousness (dial down from P4, P3 was acceptable level but straddling the line hard)
- more integrated and dynamic social links
- male or female MC
- multiple real endings
- a postgame

Nice list. I'd love for occasional non-anime cutscenes in 5 as well, and actual dungeons that aren't composed of tight hallways. Post-game content, (dungeons and bosses) are a must too.

They should take the amount of post-game bosses, endings, backstory/lore with NPCs (that have something actually interesting to say) & dungeons that SMT4 had. The ultimate mesh.

As long as the game is being made in Japan, a college setting is not happening.

Ryouga summed it up nice in a recent anime thread.

Not hard to explain really.

Japanese folks don't hold that same nostalgia for college that they do for high school. For a lot of people here, college is just a thing you go to for huge lectures. From what I gather from co-workers and friends etc, the best time of their young life was back during HS. Most folks don't live in dorms, they either commute from home or live in an apartment somewhere in the city, so you don't have those dorm antics either.

Having gone to college here for a year, I can attest to the fact that it's all pretty "meh." You make friends in clubs (if you're in any), but making friends in class is a rare sort of thing, and you have to be one hell of a go-getter in order to do it. With the majority of courses being huge lectures, there's never much time to talk to your peers unless you make the time.

High school settings are easy, and they appeal to a wide audience. College? Not so much, as odd as that may seem.

The college setting has been brought up countless times, and while yes, if the Japanese college system was a lot like the western one, I'd completely agree. But as it stands, it's not quite the same experience we're all used to.

While we've all grown up, the target market is still high school and high school nostalgia. I strongly doubt they'd move away from that. It's strongly tied to the theme of the series, and while P2 broke away from that, I think that's the exception rather than the norm. If they were to go older, I think they'd go for mid 20's to early 30's (ala catherine), but I still think they'll remain in high school for the time being. It's just what their game is about, particularly now. It'd be like saying "Bully" should be set in an office setting: It wouldn't make any sense.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. If they went older, supposedly in a bid to make the game even more popular with the western market, P5 would take place in an American office building with the main cast being salarymen. I would be interesting but probably unlikely. Wasn't one of the main characters of Persona 2 a teacher? Maybe they could do that again.

Anyway, I really don't know what I'd want added or changed to Persona other than better graphics (Catherine being the benchmark, assuming P5 is a PS3 game). Honestly, for what it is, I didn't see anything wrong with P4 at all.

Not much they could add, considering how comprehensive the games normally are. If I was to choose, I would add little things to spice up weeks. Birthdays, more field trips, non-main cast S.Links having more impact with your life, etc. I also want the town/city to be more lively and have lots of areas that are accessible from the start.

Lastly, lets speed up the battle system, yeah? Having just finished Soul Hackers (Soul Hackers is fucking fast as shit) and SMT IV, I absolutely love whirring through battles when necessary.

Oh, and handcrafted dungeons, pls.

There is no real need for the formula to evolve too much.
So a new cast and a school setting is fine.
but I'd like:

More realist time progression
References Fan Service (mentions/cameo of previous characters)
Post Game and NG+ à la Tales of
Announce of a release date and the system it will run on. Which I will buy, even if it's Wii U.

I just remembered something else I want: Other characters within the party to have relationships. It's really weird that everyone goes after the MC and anyone who doesn't get him/her just settles for being alone.

But but the otaku will rage.....

Yep. Haven't played P1, but I'm currently playing P2: Innocent Sin and dungeon crawling was not better pre-P3 either.

It does have variety, though. At least in atmosphere.

I'm hoping for another adult cast, or at least young adults. A college setting would be ace, but not likely.

Also hoping for relationships(not dating) to play a bigger role.

- Darker setting and story.
- Choice of male or female protagonist.
- More variety in the party/characters (not all of them have to be in HS).

I want the game to have more areas to explore but if anything they will probably scale it down. I loved just running around the different areas and finding random events in the game world.

I really liked the music and design motif in Persona 4, I would like them to expand on that but it will probably be something completely different.

Why would they scale it down? Sure Atlus isn't really the most adept company in making HD games but P5 should be bigger than P3/P4. P3/P4 aren't even big for PS2 standards.

I was thinking more varies party members too, maybe like, two young kids, three high school aged kids (including mc) two people in college, two adults, and an old man.

I hate his emo look. Pierced Boy has no character but he doesn't have traits I dislike at least.

If you have long hair your now sporting the emo look?

Young kids are the worst, the lowest I would go is middle school. Old man wut? I think they should have an animal, Koromaru was awesome (cute and cool).

New game plus that takes your characters, levels, stuff and persona from here and make the game go from level 100 to 200 or something.
College student instead of highschoolers.

some of these posts are ineresting....... The high scool setting is here to stay guys and anime style cutscenes are going to stay. It's a Japanese game.

these are things I want in Persona 5

- More Personas (SMT 4 had a huge amount if demons)
- Better time system
- Original Dungeons
- Endings that coincide with the social links you have completed
- Higher difficulty

That is all the Persona series needs.

I'd like to see:

-The return of the Persona Game, with a modern spin on it (played via cell phone?)
-Philemon and Nyarlathotep in some capacity, (though I don't think they should have huge roles in the story)
-Persona arcana affinity & the ability for your partners to switch between Personas. (Though to keep balance, your partners shouldn't be able to immediately switch between
Personas like the main character, it would cost a turn)
-More Persona users. In other words, i'd like to see characters outside of the main group being able to use Personas
-Cell phone integration. Texting, calling, etc should be a huge thing in Persona V.
-Fusion Spells
-Social Links with a wide variety of characters. They've only gotten better after each successive game, and i'd like them to keep it up.
-An overworld with tons of places to explore in (ala Shin Megami Tensei IV)
-Plenty of sidequests that don't just involve "find X amount of item"
Nope. Most powerful, most badass, and most popular.
Yu Narukami is more popular.

With Sega's acquisition of Atari, I would like to see the series go multiplatform.

Persona HD to get people caught up, basically repackaging all of the PSP/PSV Personas, then Persona 5 on all platforms.

It to be announced

Then announced to be Japanese exclusive, in middle school, for GREE, that way everyone's fears are totally justified and not pie in the sky disaster scenario bullshit

Then I want there to be an official dub, but Erin Fitzgerald voices every character now

In reality it'll likely be:

Announced, then shortly after announced for worldwide release (just like AA/other Persona games)

Likely PS3/360, with Vita port later. Wii U I doubt, 3DS if it can handle the engine (don't know?)

And I don't want an all new cast.
