What do you want from Persona 5 ? Here's my take.

I'd like to see:

-The return of the Persona Game, with a modern spin on it (played via cell phone?)
-Philemon and Nyarlathotep in some capacity, (though I don't think they should have huge roles in the story)
-Persona arcana affinity & the ability for your partners to switch between Personas. (Though to keep balance, your partners shouldn't be able to immediately switch between
Personas like the main character, it would cost a turn)
-More Persona users. In other words, i'd like to see characters outside of the main group being able to use Personas
-Cell phone integration. Texting, calling, etc should be a huge thing in Persona V.
-Fusion Spells
-Social Links with a wide variety of characters. They've only gotten better after each successive game, and i'd like them to keep it up.
-An overworld with tons of places to explore in (ala Shin Megami Tensei IV)
-Plenty of sidequests that don't just involve "find X amount of item"

Yu Narukami is more popular.
As long its not like frigging Strega, what a waste of space (aside Chidori)
Those fucker barely have character and just shitting around, terrible antagonist.

All blank slate characters are though. At least in the Persona universe.

Yes but the MC of P4 isn't that annoying. I don't remember him being the best at sports, for instance. And the social links with the female characters don't start with those characters instantly in love with him.

some of these posts are ineresting....... The high scool setting is here to stay guys and anime style cutscenes are going to stay. It's a Japanese game.

Can only speak for myself, but I don't think most people have a problem with the anime style. I personally like the anime style. But I don't particularly like anime shenanigans, such as forming a band and learning instruments over the weekend.

A lot of P2 vibe. I like it.

I think all are great ideas, but particularly the bolded ones. The cell phone stuff was great in Catherine. I'm trying to think of a way P5 could expand on that, perhaps even as far as a mobile app for smartphones, that would actually work. Catherine's cellphone system at the very least would be awesome.

I'd also like to say I wouldn't mind seeing some DeSu2-style response choices. "Raaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnbbbooooooooow!!!"

Neither did the ones in P3

Shit you had to max out your charm to even start Yukari's social link for example.

It's mostly the same deal with the P3 MC. He's immensely talented at sports, but the girls he hangs out with don't immediately fall in love with him. In fact the game makes a point to remind you that you're relationship with girls is strictly platonic after every rank up (before you become lovers).

BTW, all of the "blank slate" MCs are mary sues so i'm not sure why you're singling the P3MC out...

Oh, more "original" persona for the MC also welcomed, P3 MC have like 4 of them.. Yu only have his Izanagi and its ultimate form.. S

This is Sega, not Atlus.

Yup, and Sega Sammy paid 140 million dollars to immediately nuke Atlus's most popular franchise

I swear if this turns into another stupid 'SEGA NOOOOOO' thread I'll have no faith in anything-GAF ever again :p

charlequin spent like 3 threads drilling logic into your damn heads, did it all leak out?

More waifus, better designed dungeons, darker story, story with more weight than Scooby Doo with a rushed ending, better characters, Chiaki Omigawa and Kaori Ishihara voicing all of the females, press-turn, more demons, better music variety, more waifus, SMT IV's demon fusing system/interface, demon conversations, Risky/Very Hard should have meaningful mechanic and AI changes instead of "lol you earn less money and XP so we only really just added 15 hours of grinding", more waifus, Chiaki Omigawa.

Eh, did Yu ever became good at his sport club?
I forgot, but isn't he just filler player to the end at that bball social link? I remember disappointed with that because being ace bball player are one of my dream scenario lol.. and Yu have perfect posture for it too.

P3 MC on other hand became ace on his athletic club and met star social link that's the best athlete on the town.

I just want it to come out and have a great soundtrack I'll remember for the rest of my life.

I don't know, I trust this team, I really love their work and can't wait for P5 on PS2.

It's strange because for me it was the opposite.
The MC of P4 was treated like the perfect guy, everybody reminding him how perfect he was, especially during the ending, it was so bad.

Atlus please announce P5, it's been way too long. And less anime tropes.

No, not really. The closest Yu came to being a star player was when he scored the winning goal in of the S.link ranks.

Catherine proved that they can still tell a good story with an MC that actually has a voice and is more of character in the game. I want the MC in persona 5 to be a fully voice acted character that has more personality.

Good luck with that one.

That implies they paid attention to his posts in the first place.

To come out in the US.

You won't have to worry about that.

I want it to be officially announced, because Atlus still hasn't announced it yet.

It was supposed to be a few months ago, but all the Index happenings unfortunately pushed it back

P4 Golden is my first Persona game and I'm a good 25 hours in. I agree that the dungeons are the weakest part. You just run, run, run, run, run, battle, run, run, stairs, repeat. They take forever too for really no reason.

hence why my hope
Non combatant as protag, our job is to make this time version of pharos/teddie stronger with social link because he the one that became main combatant.
.

The silent protag jobs just doing social link and stuff, for combat the thing that he/she "store" in plot that the one doing job.. should've make unique dynamic as well, Pharos dynamic in P3 inspiring me.. I want them explore it further if can.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people to educate on GAF now.

I would love this, but it's very unlikely. The worst are things like the hot bath scenes. Complete garbage. I guess P4's one wasn't so bad because it kind of flipped the cliche on its head, but P3's and Golden's are awful. Golden's in particular.

What character was instantly in love with P3MC at the start?

I remember all of them making comments here and there as if they were in love almost from the start. Even Yukari after you raised your charm. I didn't like them at all, it was annoying. It's like it didn't matter what personality those characters had or what their story were, the important thing was that they loved you. (spoiler P3)
Even the teacher -.-
.At least on P4 there were female characters that for the most part were just friends as long as you didn't go for the romance (like Chie and Yumi). The only exception that I remember was the nurse.

That's just my opinion, anyway.

Neither did the ones in P3

Shit you had to max out your charm to even start Yukari's social link for example.

I meant from the beginning of their social link, not the beginning of the game.

I don't know, for me it was worse in P3. That's why I like when Junpei gets mad with the MC for being perfect.

I haven't finished P4 yet by the way, maybe it gets worse in the final hours of the game.

That's a Japan thing in general, not just an anime cliche. They love their baths/hot springs. That's the whole point of Thermae Romae.

Better dungeons and older characters. That's all I ask for.

Honestly, I'm not convince you'll get either. I think better dungeons are more likely than older characters though.

But the peeking on girls thing is an anime thing, right? I have nothing against hot baths in and of themselves, it's what takes place when you're there.

Keep high school
It's really the point of the story as far as I'm concerned, it may work with uni or college but I don't see the point
Persona 3 and 4 pushed the conservation of sp for battle, grinding was limited only by your sp in 4,and sp raising items were rare (in ps2 p4 atleast, I have not really played golden. So making melee a more viable option would be nice, also put a grander focus on having persona which nullify others options, so melee can become a more important neutral position( for example enemies should only target you if your persona is weak to them, and others should buff or use normal attacks and YES enemies should abuse weakness just as much as your team does IMO, it's really kinda stupid/easy when you make a mistake and are not punished properly because of bad ai. I would also prefer if enemies were brought up from downed position like p3 fes when being struck with a normal/non weakness attack. But I want full control of party member like 4 to prevent moments when ai team members would use a MA spell completely breaking the all out attack you had planned. And all out attacks should deal more damage, it's not very smart in some positions to use aoa when you can just dizzy an opponent and get more damage with less risk. But it's jarring to say no to the aoa and disrupts the flow of the games otherwise very stylish, almost rhythm like combat(mainly due to the music haha) forgoing the aoa feels similar to losing momentum in a sonic game..or your porn stopping/buffering mid wank. It just studders the flow. The number of persona you are allowed to carry should also increase to prevent having to trip back to the velvet room for extra points on a social link. Obviously dungeons should have more variety, I think persona 4 was an improvement but it's still not great. I also feel buffs should cost more sp and last longer so otherwise viable characters to a specific battle are not forced to buff/heal every turn to protect sitting ducks in a certain situation. I guess it's a good design in the regard that the mc has access to multiple elements but it really makes combat slower if for example yuki is healing chie, who's only option is to guard to avoid being hit at her weakness. So yosuke is doing normal attacks for little damage, chie is guarding/using healing items depending on the enemies attack order, you are using fire and attacking the enemies weak point but yuki who would be perfect in this situation has to heal/buff every turn to protect the team. Also use of all party buffs should reset instead of having no effect on characters who are literally going to lose their buff THAT TURN but because of the turn Order miss a chance to reset their 1-3 turn buff and lose the past buff immediately.

Sorry for any spelling errors I'm using my shitty phone.(ios 7 is kinda ass looking btw)

(Edit) while we are wishing I also think demon social links would be funny, maybe less focused on deeper interaction so it's mostly just lighthearted self aware conversation. It should slightly buff demons hit/miss and base stats, maybe only go up to five talks within each link and you can only initiate a link once a day. because chances are the persona will just be fused next month so I would not want really long social links. And maybe a secret move/ability for each demon can be unlocked when you achieve a max social link.

I meant from the beginning of their social link, not the beginning of the game.

I actually got insulted with this >_>

I dunno man, in Persona you raising dem stat to being that good.. its give you sense of accomplishment to got your protag got highest grade in test etc, why junpei got mad because MC not an lazyass like him and studying late night every night to got dem score.. the only fault with this reasoning though P3 teach us we can being awesome with playing at game center every day lol

P4 have better way to improving those off-battle stats maybe that's why you less annoyed with the MC, also the party not often mentioning you're hax god with wild card abilities (I actually miss this)
I agree with the romance part though, Mitsuru SL are pretty urgh.. I love that certain answer in a date with her though, legendary lol

Man, this is really unhelpful, but the main thing I'd like from P5 is for it to exist. :/

I trust the team. I know that I'll always have nostalgia goggles for P3 and P4, but I trust the team enough to know that whatever they make next probably won't be bad.

And if it is? At least I'll get some new Meguro tunes. *shrug*

Also, to answer the OP's question: From what I've heard, college is just immensely forgettable in japan. All the exciting stuff happens in high school. Yeah, sure, they could set it at a college age, but I have a strange feeling they wouldn't want to.

No worries bro, I think almost everyone feel the same.. their hope is just bonus if happened.

I loved just about everything about Persona 4. The characters, the setting, the story, and all the stuff you could do. What I hated with a passion was the damn dungeons. I put in about 30 hours into the game, and I cannot continue. It's such a chore.

I know I'll probably regret it, but it feels like a chore, rather than a hobby to get through that game.

I want the game to somewhat justify its premise this time. Kinda tired of this high school secret scooby shenanigans going on with something so blatantly major. While I would like older characters younger ones wouldn't be too bad if they actually justified it to some degree and had a supporting cast that was somewhat grounded in realism, despite the scenario being anything but.

If it absolutely has to be kids I'd like to see kids crumble under the weight, relationships strained under the stress, adults crumble over their inability to actually do anything worthwhile, yadda, yadda, not like how it is here where fighting demons and saving the world's some normal club like basketball.

Which is?

The Persona games are tied to Sony systems, the same as you see SMT/DS/EO games being released on Nintendo systems primarily. It might be preference of their respective teams, I don't know, but I'm glad for it. I want P5 to be a technical upgrade from P4.

I just want the game to come out. Honestly, we've heard so little about it since it was kind-of underhandedly announced that I'm afraid its as much vapourware as TLG.

I'll expand upon this later but,

Option for Female Protagonist.
Male Protagonist that's not a goddram depressive sob
Slightly more mature take
A Vita version
For it to come out
For it to never end
Playstation Exclusive

-Same canon world as previous Persona games
-Older characters (college/workplace setting)
-Choice of male or female protagonist, with whoever you don't choose still appearing in the story as a character
-Same sex romantic relationships
-More endings and ways to influence them
-More varied dungeons & sidequests
-A metric ton of Social Links
-Other stuff

I don't particularly care about the specifics of plot and setting as long as its well-written. I hope they make something with better pacing, as that's probably my biggest problem with Persona games.
