more GTA IV in tone, I like rockstar taking their stories seriously, RDR2 and GTAIV are the best work they've done narrative-wise because of it.

but mostly I want it to just be more GTA... up the ambition, up the interactivity, improve the world and the NPCs and so on and so forth. Don't fix what isn't broken, improve and push the tech as far they can, that's all they need to do.

Good story, hard hitting satire, jokes that are deemed inappropriate in these 'modern times' and as much political in correctness as possible. Like they used to make them.

I've played neither IV or V, but just by looking at videos I prefer the much less arcadey feel of IV. I hope they go for that more dark/realistic feel in GTA VII. Or give us a stellar remake of IV.

the issue with V is that each character is just a highly extreme personified version of a character stereotype, which made the story feel more ridiculous rather than interesting, it starts strong though.

I still personally think Trevor is a big problem with GTAV's tone and narrative, but at the time people thought it was smart because it was meant to represent "the unhinged murderous GTA gamer".

I've said it before but my dream for a GTA story would be for them to return to a mafia/crime-family story again. But i don't think we'll get that, at least there's mafia old country to scratch that itch.

More reactivity and interaction with the world and more action-consequences. I love GTA and R* games in general but I think it's time for them to give us some freedom of choice when it comes to their stories and quests.

GTAV was not at all immersive for me.

RDR-GTA even if sluggish movements will win me over but god damn please make campaign waaaay longer with Side quest quality indistinguishable from the main campaign quality.

Talking to NPCs, tying your own shoes, like those details, you can ride an elevator up a skyscraper even in 2014’s Battlefield 4s.

A good story and a new standard in open world simulation. If I get that I can even live with the traditionally spongy unresponsive controls.

What's the most important in GTA: sense of sandbox.

I want generational leap in physics, immersiveness and interactivity. RDR2 already had those aspects nailed. They just need to invest in them even more.

It shouldn't be just an expensive action game with beautiful explosions around city.
It must lure your brain into immersive, weightful world.

Long captivating story and memorable characters
Single player DLC
PSSR patch, eye candy at 60fps or 40fps

My hope that they are using sandbox mechanics from RDR2 as a baseline and greatly expand on it for GTA6

probably mentioned already but native VR support would be great. usually i get bored of gta after a couple weeks after running around a hit and getting disappointed again about how shallow the world is.

basically gtaIV 2 for gameplay

dont nerf euphoria to the point that its basically ragdoll
places with tons of NPCs (gta5 felt barren)
proper cinematic cam for driving (slow motion, change camera angles, etc--dont know why gta5 lost this)
way more car deformation
less arcadey driving physics (accidentally crashing and watching the physics take over is fun)
more interesting gunplay/ballistics (too accurate = too easy)
option to turn off kill indicator 100% (so much more interesting when an enemy drops to the ground and you dont know if hes going to get up again and keep fighting)
lots off little secrets to discover via exploration
lots of nooks and crannies in the world for interesting shootouts (i like finding a nice little nook, creating barriers/obstacles course out of cars and things, then lure cops in and watch them try to get me)
buildings to enter (love camping in a hallway or above stairs... you know, chokepoints, and luring cops in)

I want lots of mini games and random things to do in the city. I usually don’t care about the story mode of GTA, I just enjoy the sandbox element. It’s always been the best city-based sandbox game.

Being able to steal a rocket and go to the moon, obviously. And that the rocket launcher was hidden next to the protagonist's home.

(Kudos for those understanding the reference).

I don't want anything from GTA VI. It's too late.
They are now fixing bugs and doing a final polish on assets. It's going to be GTA V with few improvements to gameplay systems and visuals being the biggest change.

I don't really have hope for GTA to ever reach the immersion and gameplay diversity of San Andreas (my personal favorite) or even IV, which was and still is a great game.
With each release they cut a feature and use dev time and hardware on useless ventures like super-realistic graphics or bigger world.

I really like how they experimented with lite-RPG systems in San Andreas. That would be the best direction for future titles. It would allow developers to improve missions scope and freedom as well as story itself.
But then again, it's never going to happen. Online component of the game now directs how and what the single-player component can and can't do.

I want to see full fidelity and 60fps on the PS5 Pro. Also I want to see them make fun of all the recent trends, people and politics that are currently going on (on both sides!) I don't want them to hold back on anything! Also lots of Boats and Hoes!

what would be really incredible is if they took a cue from bethesda and started making quests in that style of exploration and discovery of hidden areas that go on forever, kind of like a cross between fallout new vegas and GTA. imagine a GTA world that was as deep as a bethesda map with all kinds of trap / hidden doors in people's backyards or their basements or whatever that you would randomly come across and find some insane thing inside like a whole underground palace or whatever.

Character control and animation needs to be greatly improved..

GTA 5 still has horrible character control..

I know this is highly unlikely to happen, but a stupid wish of mine is for that instagram reel shot from the trailer where they show a woman twerking on top of a car to also be a dynamic event that you can find randomly while roaming Vice City, I want to brake check the fuck out of those cars and watch the idiots who are twerking get launched and face planted on the road.
Basically I want to distribute some Darwin Awards throughout the GTA universe.

If some of the early leaks turn out to be true, the idea of an expanding world and adding more islands to the game over time.

And just that the main story be interesting.

As realistic as possible.

I want to be able to enter every building.

I also want real world destruction. If I fire an RPG at a building, I expect to see more than just a black smudge on the wall.

More than anything I want much better mission design that actually embraces the freedom that should come with a big open world. I was underwhelmed by how restrictive, linear and hand holding heavy most of the missions in GTAV were.

Ideally I'd want a lot of the missions to give you some general objective like "break into this place and get X" and then have the game offer multiple ways to do so that I can discover organically. Instead of the GTAV design which just had you following very specific instruction "Drive exactly here, then stand exactly here and throw a grande exactly at this location, now change characters at this exact moment and go exactly here, etc".

That and better core gameplay. I don't know how the modern version plays but back when it originally launched the shooting was just awful, it's one of the main reasons I sort of liked the main story missions in Watchdogs better than GTAV (though GTA had the much better world, story and characters)

I am hoping the hand to hand combat takes what RDR2 was doing and improves upon it. I don't want to go back to whatever the heck GTA5 was doing.

Every little detail IV has and V didn't, which are quite a few. Actually great physics please, they were a big downgrade in V compared to IV. It was a lot better in RDR2, so I have faith.

I want tons of interiors that we can access. This was such a disappointment in V after the previous games. VI for example really needs a big shopping mall that Vice City has, lots of stores we can enter ala Dead Rising.

Let there be way more player freedom/choice in missions. I adore RDR2 for many reasons but that not being one of them. Hopefully cars will be very fun to drive around, I never truly enjoyed it in V. Now playing IV and while it isn't realistic how the car sways and what not, the handling IS very enjoyable.

I used like GTA in PS2 games because they give you mission like kill the target but you had total freedom on how go about killing it.

But in current R* they trying so hard to be cinematic that you have less freedom in missions and you have to follow it exactly to letter or you fail the mission and its fucking sucks.

They make super detail world but in my option they just not all that fun to play them.
So it's no longer fluid.

Hopefully they don't go too PC, is all I ask. That and cutting edge animations and graphics that will completely knock my socks off. We're already four years into this generation and apart from CP2077 + Phantom Libterty with path tracing; I'm still waiting for a game to blow me away.

Everything else I expect an improvement on over V. Like physics, ai, combat and better driving.
