Best bet is to expose them to good games early before they are exposed to the brainrot titles. Again, I don't think Minecraft is one such title, but still. I had my kid playing a lot of great games by 6 or 7 years old, before she was really exposed to peer games. So by then she was into Age of Empires, Mario 64, Plants vs Zombies (the tower defense), Elder Scrolls, Quest for Glory, Final Fantasy series, the Sims, lots of good stuff. She didn't play Minecraft for the first time until she was 10.

Kids these days are more into creativity/building stuff: Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, etc. While I personally despise those games, I think it's positive that they're doing something actually creative. I just grew up blowing up stuff and have zero imagination.

My son played a bunch of Minecraft in elementary school, now he's in high school and plays mostly Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, and Stellaris, three games I can't hack. He probably looks at me playing call of duty and thinks why don't you play a real game.

My point is what he is playing now does not predict the future.

Don't have kids myself but my nephews' rotation basically goes Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, Valorant, and maybe some 7 Days to Die or State of Decay sprinkled in there.

It's a very social platform for them to play with friends, but they're showing interest in story based single player games so it's just a matter of time.

Hell, I was the same with CS and TF2 when we transitioned from LAN to fully online. Then EQ changed my life and got hooked on MMOs, funny that.

I bought Series S for my 10 years friend and shared my huge library of digital Xbox games.

At first he played GTA5 online, Rocket League and Roblox. I also loaded other games of different genres, but he barely touched them...

Now he has given up the console at all and got back to playing Roblox on a smartphone...

Roblox has some of the worst monetization I've ever seen. It should be banned or completely reworked. Straight up gambling for kids.

It's free to play now so it is infected with monetization with all sorts of monetization schemes, but it is still one of the greatest sports games ever created that is fun for beginners with an incredibly high skill ceiling.

No they are still into blowing shit up. 99% aren't building shit. They use what others build and goof off with friends, that's all it is. It's why these f2p gaas games have high numbers. While people like me think they are shit

It's been on pc since day 1, except Epic bought the devs and it's no longer available on steam. Although you can till use it if you got it before Epic bought the devs and pulled it from steam.

I got my seven year old into playing Pain Killer and Unreal Tournament back in the early 2000's. The boy is 26 now and has not and will not play on a console! He just had his first child in August, and he is already talking about how he isn't raising no console peasant (all in joking fun of course)! Getting the kids into games is awesome, regardless of the game. All I ever needed was to see a smile on their face.
