So, what's the best first-party PS5 game at the moment?

What is the best first-party PS5 game at the moment?

I had an ok time with Ratchet, Spider-Man, Horizon, and GoW, but the list shows how weak this gen has been. Astrobot is the only game I would consider unmissable.
Only when it comes to Sony first party games.

This gen there was plenty of 3rd party and Nintendo games I enjoyed.

Based strictly on what I've played through so far, I had to go Ratchet and Clank.
Still easily the most fun and also impressive tech/graphic wise. Gave me hope when I saw it in 2021 thinking this is only the beginning of how game would look this gen. Now fast forward 4 years later and it's still the best looking ps5 game with only gta vi looking better. Was really hoping for at least 1 more Ratchet and Clank game within these 4 years.

I voted GT7 even though I haven't played it. Wish they would bring it to PC, don't want to go back to Playstation. That huge urge to save up money so I can buy a Playstation and play PS exclusives is long gone, they gonna release it on PC anyway. I made the right decision.

first-party means a developer that belongs to said company.
There are already multiple instances on this thread proving that wrong, including Mr Moose Mr Moose 's post below yours showing evidence of an actual gaming industry CEO saying so.
Koei Tecmo and Shift Up are not first party. They are second party games and now 3rd party games as they are now available on PC and self published by Shift Up and Koei Tecmo on PC. So you have no idea what you're talking about.
Rise of the Ronin on PC? Sure, self-published by Koei Tecmo Games, but have you realized that even that specific version credits SIE over its publishing work?

Not to mention that KTG outright said that the game pretty much existed thanks to SIE:

Stellar Blade on PC? Literally published by SIE, and not Shift Up:

But sure, I have no idea what I'm talking about. So confidently wrong and annoying.

Is always recommended to finish every single room available until you move to another Biome.

Artifacts and a weapon with decent traits but especially a nice alt-fire will give anybody better chances.

I think they did the right thing not to be able to comeback to lower Biome's since enemies have more health and are more difficult to kill.

Suspend cycle was a nice addition for people that get frustrated easily.
Yeah I jumped in when the suspend cycle was already there.
Still got super frustrated and hated on the game…
Then found out that you could upload a paused cycle to the cloud and download after death!
Then it became my favorite Sony game ever. 👌

I no longer have PS+ though. No more saves for me! But I saw that you can mod PC version to get unlimited reconstructor usage. But you still have to be lucky enough to find one.
I really just want a manual save before a boss. Let my try again without another hour of playing only to die again.

Anyhow Astrobot nearly beat Returnal for me. At first! But I don't think Astro held up for a whole playthrough, there was so little challenge that it became tedious to replay levels to find all bots. I stayed to get the Platinum but I doubt I'll replay it.

Ratchet is among my favorites as well. It was like playing a Pixar quality movie. Superb localization too, movie quality, best ever during my 40+ years gaming. I could play through it for my youngest ones without having to translate anything! 👍

Why are people posting about being disappointed? Didn't you all realize the consensus is exclusives don't matter anymore?

I've reached the conclusion that it's not worth replying to you anymore. Cheerio NialGPT

Astro bot with it's challenge levels is almost more challenging than Returnal tho.... Almost

My top 5: 1. Astrobot 2. Stellar blade ( since it is still console exclusive ) 3. Ds2( since it is still exclusive to ps5 for a while ) 4. GoW 5. Ratchet and Clank

Exclusivity doesn't have anything to do with a game being first-party or not, hence Helldivers 2 and Lego Horizon Adventures being on the list.

Well Ds2 and Stellar blade was helped by Sony Xdev tools and technical side and still fully funded and backed and promoted by Sony PS. Both are 2nd and 3rd party, but there is still a 1st party big percentage in it.

What I meant is that both games will always be first-party PS5 titles regardless of their platform availability.

That's like an alternate version of the meme "I love going on message boards to complain about games I haven't played!". You go to message boards to praise games you haven't played!
Imma GT fanboy, literally the main reason why I buy Playstation console. Also, played it a lil bit at my friend house when it came out. But I don't really count it as having played since it was only a few races.

Ok I understand. I only played it the first week so can't really say much about it, at that point it was good but not above anything else, exceot tye general polish and that it was clearly made for car lovers with lots of history told etc.
It's been updated since then, I remember thinking it felt too grindy, the ingame economy wasn't optimal but iirc there was a patch a week or two after rekease doing something about that.
A PC version would be nice! With VR capabilities!
