Started and stopped playing Steelrising a few times due to its clunky feel and overall lack of polish. However there's a charm there that kept pulling me back and this time it clicked. Enjoying the weapon variety and rpg elements.

The thing that pushed it over the hump was enabling the mode where your loot isn't lost when you die. Now dying because of the controls or a bad hitbox isn't a big deal anymore. Sacrilege I know. It's easier than most of the souls-like games so less intense and more casual but still fun.

Final Fantasy 7 (1998)- Playing with 7th Heaven mods and the controller from the PlayStation classic. I thought I wasted my money on the PlayStation classic but honestly, the controllers that came with it are usb and are useful for cases like this. I also like them for emulation of course. The 7 Heaven mods are just crazy. This AI shit is magic.

Majora’s Mask PC port - My first play through of this game back in the day, I beat it without ever receiving the notebook or the Deity Mask. A friend that I let borrow the game pointed that stuff out to me saying “you just barely beat the game”, but it really didn’t click till I played this PC port and just stumbled upon that notebook. This thing is useful! I think I was able to beat the game without the deity mask by using the bunny ears. It took many attempts. 😆 Also this game at 4k/120

Currently playing 2 games- Zelda on Switch and as of this morning, Silent Hill 2 on PS5.

Zelda is wonderful. Love the controls. The different ways to interact with enemies and the environment. The game is just pure joy. It’s why I still, after around 35 years from getting my NES, truly do love Nintendo and the way they make games.

Silent Hill 2. Only an hour in but had to stop… bloody scary! Flashbacks to a time when I played the original on my PS2 and Xbox and would shit myself playing as a late teen alone in my room! This game is brilliant so far! They’ve nailed the atmosphere in terms of graphics but fuck me- Akira Yamaoka is the greatest when it comes to music/sounds! He immerses you completely into the game and it just takes me back to my younger self playing the original masterpiece. Phenomenal stuff.

Playing Zelda Echoes of Wisdom on the switch oled in handheld exclusively as if looks so good that way and has a real homely feel,

I play that until the battery is screaming it’s low then switch over to Tactical Breach Wizards on PC. Really fun and clever tactical but more of a puzzle game really. Amazing writing - I’ve sniggered many times.

Replaying Gothic 1.

One of the greatest RPG series and certainly in top 3 most immersive video games I've ever played. The "worst" thing about Gothic series is that, if you give it a chance, it will change your RPG palate so drastically that many mainstream "good" RPGs will suddenly look shallow and boring.

The Gothic Universe Edition (Gothic 1, Gothic II: Gold Edition, Gothic 3) is on sale. It's like 3,99€ until tomorrow, October 7th.

Dude, Gothic 1 and 2 are my favorite Rpgs. Masterpieces. Really curious about the Gothic 1 Remake.

I agree. In my case though, Gothic 3 is on the same plane as first two games, just because of its exploration and the beautiful world. It has a lot to offer. I think people will learn to appreciate the series even more in the future, given how dry and poor the situation with modern WRPGs is.

Really curious about the Gothic 1 Remake.
The Remake looks amazing in the visuals department, I only hope they don't ruin the original's heavy immersion with modern lazy designs like quest markers, ugly mini-maps or busy UI prompts everywhere. That would simply kill the game.

Is Gothic 3 really good? I've never played it for very long but i'm ready to try with community patch if its good.

If your top priority in RPGs are super interesting quests, first two games did it a lot better and 3 might not be it. 3 changed the formula and the result is: there is a lot less of story and the focus is more on the exploration and doing your own thing. The world is huge and handcrafted, filled with details and things to interact with. In that sense, yes, it is very good and that's why I consider it to be super underappreciated.

I've replayed Hellblade 1 and that was disappointing. I remember enjoying my first playthrough 7 years ago, but since then my opinion of the game has worsened. Pretty much everything related to the gameplay is annoying me - the puzzles are repetetive and the perspective ones sometimes don't trigger properly, fighting 1 enemy is a piece of cake, fighting multiple enemies is frustrating because of how lock-on works in the game, exploration is far too linear and the game tends to waste my time with some backtracking (and Senua doesn't run fast enough).
I still enjoyed reminding myself what happened during Senua's story, same with the setting and the ending with the awesome music, but my hype to catch up and finally play Hellblade 2 is mostly gone.

Deadspace remake... enjoying it alot but was expecting more visually, frostbite just isn't the big dog as it use to be.

Still fun though, dig the extra exploration

Been playing a lot of Tears of the Kingdom trying to finish it off. Im on the hunt for Master Word and arrived at the Deku Tree in the Great forest. This time around it had a different twist to it in how you get there, which was both refreshing and annoying, since it took a while for me to figure it out. This game is huge. Feels like I've been playing for an eternity and it just keeps going. Love it though.

You just reminded me why I quit the game. I was probably 3/4 of the way through and one of the perspective puzzles wouldn't "solve" despite me obviously having it correct. I quit and never looked back.

Just been playing Iron Meat - one the best Contra likes I've ever come across. Absolutely fantastic sound and visuals, controls like a dream, outstanding level design, really addictive. Can't recommend it enough.

3rd Elden Ring playthrough.

Gone for a strength/faith confessor build with quickstep.
I honestly don't know how you folks play this game repeatedly. My first play through, I investigated every catacomb, cave, area, NPC, etc. I did it all. It was fun. I tried playing again and it was just Deja vu all over again. Except 90% of it felt worthless since the lack of sense of exploration made finding ashes #12 or spirit summon #20 always a disappointment.

First time through was amazings a few times after that (one with co-op) was okay. After that's it's very rough playing through it for me.

Meanwhile I have gone through Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, and Demon's many times each.

Same here. Demon's Souls maybe three times. Dark Souls at least three partial play-throughs. Bloodborne twice (but never fully finished as I got stuck each time).

Elden Ring open world just works against it for replay-ability unless you skip a lot of content the first time. My friend did this. He played a second time and found many areas that he missed the first time.

I actual played Elden Ring unhealthy amount thanks to so variety build option, to me Demons Souls is the one is not that all that fun replay because that game is most fun when you know nothing but once you do you just going through the motion with barely any challenge.

I just boss rush it. Run around on the horse, level flasks, avoid mobs and see what level I can kill stuff at.

I agree with you entirely by the way. I was flagging on the first play through. Game is too big.

Finally finished Tears of the Kingdom. It was very good, although I had to take a couple of breaks in between due to me being burnt out on open world games. But the game is really good, one of the best and most fun Zelda's I've played, mainly thanks to the incredible exploration. The world is just packed with secrets, from sky to land to the depths, there are great surprises in abundance. Totk expanded and improved on Botw imo, the temples were better, the shrines were more fun and the Bosses were cooler. And the new mechanics with Ultrahand and Ascend made the gameplay very varied and added a lot to the shrine puzzles and overall gameplay.

The main plot is the same as ever, defeat Ganon and save Zelda, but I liked the small side stories and adventures that took place because they fleshed out the characters and world. Like Penn the reporter trying to find out the whereabouts of Zelda so he can get a juicy report to his newspaper. Or the Gorons getting hooked on Marble rock roast to the point of them being literal drug friends. Then we have Monster control crew where you took out Monsters and saved civilians and townspeople who were getting chased around by violent creatures. All of these little side stories were so fun to do and made the main plot so much better.

All in all, Tears of the Kingdom is an amazing game. I clocked in about 110 hours and I did almost everything, save from a few shrines and side quests. Perhaps I'll do some post game cleanup but right now I'm pretty satisfied with what I got. Feels good to have crossed this one off the list.

I'm almost done with Death Mark II. Got the good ending and got through the extra chapter which was surprisingly wholesome

I'm going to be getting the True Ending tomorrow and looking at how I'm supposed to get it, isn't gonna to take too long. So far I really like the VN and it's a fitting conclusion to the Spirit Hunter Trilogy

Just finished The Plucky Squire. Ok game but had a couple of glitches - jump broke on one part and an entire mini-game just didn't register any inputs. The accessibility option allowed me to fix the jump issue though.

Chugging through Atelier Ryza, enjoying the smaller story of just some friends who're bored stuck on a little island and want some adventure. 15 hours in, not sure how long left I have, but I'm having fun.

Started Trail of Cold Steel 2 (in the prologue) but holding off on getting going on that until I've finished Ryza

FFXVI is looking at me every time I jump on the console - 27% and guilt-tripping me into picking it up again...

I was playing Star Wars Outlaws on Ubisoft+ subscription service, I was like 80% thru it when my sub ran out. No big, maybe I will resub when the new Assassins Creed comes out and finish off Outlaws before playing AC. I really enjoyed Outlaws, will be interesting to see how improved it is after some patching.

Now am going back to Baldur's Gate 3, playing Honor mode for the first time. It is very intense, and I find myself hesitant to boot it up sometimes because I am scared I am going to wipe on the next encounter and lose my save.

But Diablo IV expansion just came out, I am stuck at work but going to play that as soon as I am done.

Also just booted up the Metaphor ReFantazio demo. Probably not going to buy it, but seems cool. I hope it sells well so they come out with a Royal version.

Also Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just came in the mail, was finally $40 on some online retailer. I COULD start that ......

Also have a SNES Mini coming in the mail next week.......

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Finished Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance today and got the law ending. Left a few thoughts on the OT.

Now it's waiting time until Metaphor: Refantazio comes out on Friday, for which I can't wait!
It's also the third game with press-turn combat I'll be playing this year (after DDS and SMT V), so I hope I don't burn myself out of it lol.

Silent Hill 2. Just started it, but Holy shit at the fucking graphics on this. The environment looks almost photorealistic. Very Moody and atmospheric. You just know you're gonna be in for a ride.

Anomaly Agent: picked up on sale last night. Already happy with the purchase. It's basically like playing a sci-fi comedy Lupin the 3rd beat em up. I wasn't sure based on the trailer, but it feels pretty good when playing. There's already a rather large focus on parrying projectiles and attacks from multiple directions, so my fears about it being too simple are already gone. Made me chuckle a few times with the jokes. I'm impressed with the game.

Wargroove 2: Got through one arc and stopped, need to pick the next faction. I think it's good. Fantasy Advance Wars. There's regularly units dying and enough pushback to feel the strategy.

Shattered Space: Still going through and finding multiple quests. It's a little lowkey at times but I'm enjoying it a lot. Basically just more Starfield, which is fine with me.

Valfaris Mecha Therion: Nearing the end of this fantastic shmup. Really took my time with it and played a level or 2 a week. Can't recommend it enough for anyone that wants a fresh take on shmups with fair and balanced challenge.

Rider's Republic: Still popping in for races every once in a while. Game is the best extreme sports game ever made.

Dark Light: I think this came out a while ago on other platforms, but it just dropped on Xbox a week or so ago. Never heard of it. It's got a fantastic visual style that is kind of strange. Almost looks like a stop animation game, but with really saturated colors and lighting contrast. Looks like Metro x Ascent but its a Metroidvania. Still unsure what I think about this one. The combat and parries are a little underwhelming so far, but I think I barely have any abilities so it might improve.

Silent Hill 2 Remake
I've played for a couple of hours and am really enjoying it. Combat is satisfying, which was my biggest worry with Bloober. The atmosphere and mood are incredible. I love the use of the dual-sense speaker. Playing in quality mode on PS5 is a little rough sometimes, which is my only real complaint.

Just bought Metaphor: ReFantazio. Looking forward to playing that over the weekend.

The Thaumaturge - I'm slowly wrapping up the first act. I really like the story, but gameplay is kinda lacking and combat is boring
Astro Bot - completed first galaxy / world, love it so far
Assassin's Creed: Unity - just started Sequence 5. The amount of bloat on the map is even worse than I remembered lol

Played a couple of hours now in Silent Hill 2. Just finished the puzzle at Neelys Bar. The game is very faithful to the original, while also expanding on some areas of the town. I'm just in awe at the graphical standard here, feels like Bloober has raised the bar for cinematic adventure games. The mist and how it dissipates looks so damn real and convincing. The town actually feels like a real ghost town, like it was meant to be originally portrayed. The art direction is stellar. It has a very eerie feeling to it. Every building is empty and abandoned. Monsters roaming around. It has surreal quality to it that feels very much Silent Hill. And the ambiance music and sound effects by Akira Yamaoka is so good. Having him back is wonderful news. I've missed his music in SH since Homecoming, which was almost 20 years ago. Being an SH fan has been rough these past decades but we are so back 💪

120 hours of Octopath Traveler, and I am retiring. I finished all the character stories, almost all the side quests, and got my ass kicked by some boss that wrecks my level 70 all-star team. I'm calling it a wrap. Wonderful game and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Waiting for Metaphor ReFantazio on Friday, but put in Octopath 2 on PS5 to play until then. The title screen music brought out some emotion, especially when I discovered that I can change to night-time!

Playing Silent Hill 2 with headphones is so scary. The sound design is so damn good you are clenching your butt cheeks when you hear a gargling monster hiding in the room. You can also hear subtle noises, like James trembling when he breathes, it makes character very three dimensional and alive. The combat is enhanced, giving James an option to strafe, but it never feels like he is much of a fighter, he's just defending himself from these monsters. He is very fragile, just like in the original, despite Bloober upping the ante in terms of combat. A commendable feat indeed because judging from early trailers, the game looked like it was going to be more action oriented, but it's very much not so. It's incredibly tense, all the time.

I haven't played the original SH2 and 3 in a very long time, I've been more into Homecoming and Downpour in recent years, because I played the OG trilogy so damn much I got tired of them. But doing so I've forgot what an assault on the senses the first three games are, especially SH2, and this remake is absolutely terrifying in that regard. The state of the art graphics and Yamaokas sound design is making me shitting bricks, just like SH2 made me do 25 years ago. Maybe even more so today. The game is that good. It's a familiar experience, yet totally revamped in a fresh way and I have to pinch myself in the arm so I don't think I'm dreaming. The insane level of quality this remake is displaying is almost unbelievable.

2nd playthrough of Village. Just got to the stronghold. I was reminded of how much I didn’t like the Reservoir level. Might be the worst RE level ever made for me.

Cyberpunk. Just my opinion, but while the worldbuilding is impressively expansive, the really cynical narrative/setting just isn't hooking me. Also: combat is too easy; I'm playing on Hard, and I haven't felt challenged during a fight in about 12 hours of play time (and I'm not exactly excellent at games).

That said, the graphics, voice acting, and the way they made Night City feel "alive" are all very well done.

Just a heads up for you both since you like beat em ups. Game is legit. Having a great time so far, on level 2. Beat em up with a lot of projectile parries, almost feels like an old school action game like TMNT (NES) but in a good way. Got it on sale for $8.
