What game are you currently playing?

Got the Plat in Jak & Daxter (PS5) and now am looking to wrap up Cyberpunk. Completed most of the side missions and am now starting to focus on the main quest line.

How are you liking Cyberpunk 2077? I've always wanted to play that game, did they fix lot of issues that game had?
Love it actually. The beginning was a bit rough but once you get a hang of it and the side quests start expanding it gets really, really good. The game is very polished by now, especially for how good it looks. Only had a few minor bugs. Runs butter smooth on base PS5.

Don't expect a super deep RPG though. You can specialize quite a bit but it doesn't really matter in the end. Went with a mix of sneak and sword action and it's super fun.

I'm disappointed that there's no Third Person Mode since I suck at FPS. Also I suck at driving game and avoid any games that force me into driving segments. I heard CP2077 has lot of those driving segments

Just go with sneak then. It works quite well and you can avoid a lot of the combat. Combine with Samurai skills and then you can go with the sword if there is combat. Works quite well.

Driving…. Well, with the quick travel you can skip most of it. I personally love it because of the amazing use of the dual sense. Super fun to drive imo.

How are you enjoying it overall? Been thinking of picking it up.

I am having a blast with it. The gameplay is solid. I believe that the staggered development cycle has been a benefit. There are also good settings and options for swing mechanics and overall difficulty. You can also tailor things like how many holes you play in a round, you can simulate some holes, you can play fewer rounds per tournament, etc.
Full disclosure: I have the difficulty turned down right now until I feel comfortable with swinging and reading putts. I am only playing single player on the Tour against the CPU field.

They pulled a bait and switch with the VC monetized crap. In the demo, VC rewards were very generous , but in the full release it is nerfed to all hell and back. If you're playing single player and enjoying the game, it shouldn't be an issue. Progression chugs along. You get more VC for playing well. It's in the multiplayer space that the VC is an issue. People can pay for VC and just max out or pump up a character significantly by paying. If you intend to go online against others, keep that in mind.

First Beserker: Khazan
Beat the spider boss and unlocked the blacksmith chap.

Final Fantasy X
Haven't played much; Just barged in on Yuna in Besaid. One of my all-time favourites. Can't wait to play more.

I finished the Samorost trilogy and I think that wraps up all of Amantia Design games for me. Their art is on another level and I really appreciate their approach to the point-and-click genre. The first game is only a few minutes long and the second can be wrapped up in an hour. The third game is much more substantial and will probably take around five hours to finish. I do think it has some issues that came along with multi-screen puzzle designs not found in the first two games and the pacing is kind of weird with the end scenario being fairly anti-climatic. Botinacula and Happy Game (this one has a neat story as it was a fan submission that got turned into a full project of theirs with help from that fan) are still my favorite games of theirs but you really can't go wrong with any of the titles.

I've also picked up EDF6 again after a long hiatus. I've gained 6% completion over the last few days which is substantial for that game. It's just good, dumb fun.

I started playing the Outcast remake. Never played the original but have wanted to since it came out.

So far, it's nice to not be let down! Can't comment on the game too broadly but it's got a nice way of letting you figure out things for yourself. Often the answers are about "who you know" and you can meet or return to certain characters to give them updates on what you found and move things along.

I had to look up one thing so far. I might have been able to figure it out, but i frittered away a good amount of time trying, so I called it.

Other than that, game has a nice old-school feel even though it's a remake. I'm not sure what they changed, but it has the feel of an older game, in general. I'll be back with updates because I'm definitely going to play more.

Would you suggest the Legend Edition that comes with all the goodies and the 1,800 VC?

That's the thing, right with 2K? They're NBA games, I love the gameplay. However, that predatory VC stuff is such a turn off. Is this as intrusive and in your face as that?

Currently playing High on Life. Just wanted something light and goofy and low effort to get into. After this I plan on finishing Control if it syncs my cloudsaves from my Geforcenow days. That game was really something else to me in terms of concept and story. Very much liked the aesthetics and mysterious vibe

It's been on my to-play list for a while and saw that it's been on sale for a few days. And since I have another week before Mandragora releases I decided to dive in.

I'm not big on fps game but I'm really enjoying it so far. I appreciate that it's more methodical with searching around for upgrade materials and whatnot and really using melee instead of the ol' run 'n gun. I also enjoy the horniness of the world and how the MC is having none of it.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch. About 12 hours in. Enjoying this 12 course FEAST. WILL PURCHASE a Switch 2 upgrade for 10 bones. Just sayin', Nintendo. Eh? EH???

Demon's Souls. I finished it two days ago already, then realized I fucked up the trophy run so I'd have to at least do two more NG+. So I just started completely new. Fuck this games trophies, doing anything wrong will lock you out completely and you can just go after everything a second time. No words for how much I hate such bad trophy designs.

At the current sale price of $101 on PSN, you'll definitely save money over buying all of it individually. If you really want the cosmetic stuff it's okay, and some of the Starter Pack stuff will be helpful with leveling up very early.

I haven't played the NBA 2K games, but I have watched several scathing reviews about the predatory monetization in those games. It is AWFUL. For now, in the single player of PGA 2K25, I can't say that simply buying VC if you wanted to upgrade is horrible. I will say it isn't necessary. If you're struggling with the mechanics and courses, VC will only go so far to improve your player. You can also adjust the difficulty to make things easier at the cost of an XP multiplier, but the settings make it easier so the offset isn't really that bad unless you are the type to have to max out stats ASAP for your own jollies.

If you intend to go online against strangers and truly compete, VC consumption is necessary and the only way to stay competitive from what I've heard. Not every match is some maxed out sweat, but there are enough to make your time frustrating if you want to beat people. Whales exist and have maxed out players that they paid a lot of money to boost up, with some playing involved. I personally won't go online against strangers because I am mostly done with that due to so many poor experiences with strangers online. (I'm a magnet for that shit. unfortunately.) In this game, I'd only attempt it with people I know or met through somewhere like here. Your mileage may vary of course, as I'm going based on some reviews. This isn't a popular game series, so there aren't many big name reviewers out there, too. Sorry to ramble, it was a terrible day at work and I'm just vibing to video game chatter.

Just finished Halo 5

Positives:
High resolution
Flawless framerate

Negatives:
Ultra Contrast Neon Particle Vomit graphics
Detuned weapons that feel and sound weak
Limited enemy types
Severely cut-rate animation on most enemies, inherited from base Xbox One that they couldn't be bothered to fix for Xbox Series
Nearly identical repeated bubble-arena combat sections for the whole game
Ruined characters and characters that nobody asked for
Sci-fantasy word salad dialogue and story-telling

2/10

Don't apologize at all buddy. Ramble away, that's what most of us are here for. At least after a shitty day at work, we have so many good options to play to wind down from.

I appreciate the details because that's what I was looking for. You obviously love the game and that makes me more confident to purchase. I value the opinions, beats some paid YouTuber. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Recently finished Terminator Salvations main story - quite liked the game but had to play it in bursts as it gets a bit tedious honestly.
Recommend it though and have the Annihilation and Infiltrator DLC to finish now.

Also finished Astro Bot too.....man, this game really fell off for me and Ive ended hating it in the end. I think it was those god awful challenge galaxies that ruined it for me.
I found them just pretty cheap and very, very tedious and just not fun at all - I did them all as I am an idiot but the very last challenge level for the very last bot I am just not doing, its ridiculous and awful.
SO much of those challenge levels can be luck and timing that is outside of your control (blob things spitting shit at you, frogs that fire rockets or the fireball things that track you) and when your on ice or glass going as fast as you can its just bullshit.

I would delete it and sell it today if I could but my missus is playing through it as well!

Just finished Octopath traveler and started this on a whim; have never played Suikoden before but my buddy nearly jizzed himself gushing about it, part2 in particular, but I'll start with part1 and see how it goes.

Started Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk. Only have played for a few hours but so far so good. Nice art and music, story is entertaining and seems interesting as are the dungeon crawling mechanics. Only complain is that I don't really "get" the combat and it's quite easy so far, but I'm still quite early on so I guess it's early to judge.

Xenoblade Chronicles X, just ticked over 30 hours. Really just have a great rhythm for the progression and exploration at this point and having a grand time. Story is kind of whatever but I don't really care. Have a number of things coming out on Steam Deck in the next week that will pull my attention away a bit but I feel like I'm gonna be grinding away at Xenoblade X right until Switch 2.

Thief Deadly shadows on OG Xbox.
Looks understandably creaky now, but my god, the atmosphere and music coupled with Stephen Russell as Garrett is still intoxicating.
Nightdive studios should definitely remaster this and the first two Thief games.
Also Prey on series X.
Finished it on Ps4 but the Series X version runs flawlessly with 60fps and improved loading times (which almost killed the Ps4 version for me, what with backtracking in the endgame) making it much less excruciating.
I'm utterly hooked again!
I'm having an immersive sim phase.
I miss the genre so, so much.

Omori.

Oh my God it's so good. I can't remember the last time I loved a game so much I couldn't stop playing. The story, the characters, the music, and the visuals are just perfect.

If you like games like Earthbound then this is it. Dont even hesitate just buy it.

I'm on another indie kick after this game though. Games made by corporations never produce this level of content.

Steel assualt

Felt in the mood for some 2D action. Game is challenging in that old school arcade kind of way. It has a neat GBA-like aesthetic. Figured I'd check out Zenovia's Steel assault given I'm looking forward to their next project.

Honestly, its quite shocking how much quality is coming from small teams or solo developers these days. Even with the limited ressources they have at their disposal, they are still quite capable of delivering a great game. There tends to be some kind of "magic" in these games that are unbothered by overzealous corporate interests.

Playing GTA 3 from the remastered trilogy. I am okay with the mission difficulty and quality being kinda uneven, but I'm not okay with the gang members being so aggressive. In one of the missions I couldn't even deliver the car, because they were constantly blowing it up. I definitely didn't remember it being this annoying and imo it should've been tweaked a bit in the remaster or at least made less of a problem during freeroam.
I had a similar experience, but with the police, they were super agressive, thing I didn't remember having during my first play 20 years ago

Can anyone offer some advice about Dark Souls 3?

I started Dark Souls 3 and made it maybe a quarter to third (?) of the way through. I'd like to start over again. I'd like to use a simple and efficient build, with few stats and accessible weapons. I usually focus on health and stamina, and then whatever stat supports my weapon of choice. I generally enjoy sword and board, or greatsword gameplay. But I'm open to axes, clubs, and other weapons. I don't know if magic is in 3, but I'm open to magic if it's there.

I guess you could call it a less-is-more type of build haha. What sort of simplified builds do you like to use or recommend for someone looking for such a build? Thanks for reading and offering any suggestions.

I've meant to play this on two consoles now. I need to finally play it!

Start as a knight. Remove a piece of armor so you can midroll. One of the crystal lizards in Lothric drops a Raw Gem. Infuse your Longsword with raw. Keep it leveled as high as possible and it will do good damage with no stat investment.

Ignore damage stats and just level health and stam until you feel comfortable, but don't go beyond 50 Vig and 40 End. Level Vit as needed for what you want to wear. At that point pick a damage stat and weapon to invest in. You can stick with he longsword if you want, straight swords are really good in DS3, especially if you're going to be using a shield. It's weapon art is also really good.

Alternative strategy: Start with Pyromancer class. In cemetery of Ash smack Iudex Gundyr with axe in 1st phase and finish off 2nd phase with fireballs. Once at the base of the high wall grab the banner from NPC in the church and apply the same strategy against Vordt. Get flown to Undead Settlement and run past all the shit to the elevator inside chapel. Give the slip to the ice knight and open the door to Road of Sacrifices. Find and farm the undead mages for staff drop. Use the staff skill to wipe out bosses with best poison build in game. You can now beat everything including DLC if you can dodge/block long enough.

P.S. Use quickstep skill on a weapon like a dagger to traverse swamps without getting stuck in the muck.

I'm currently playing Nier Replicant on PC. Everything about it is top quality, apart from the dated graphics, obviously, since it's a remaster of a 2010 game. I just wish they'd invested more in the side quests, since most of them are pretty average. But apart from that, it's an excellent game overall.

They could barely afford to put the game together to begin with. I will also say, some of the sidequests make it a point to be the way they are. They suck, purposefully.

First Beserker: Khazan
Beat the spider boss and unlocked the blacksmith chap.

Final Fantasy X
Haven't played much; Just barged in on Yuna in Besaid. One of my all-time favourites. Can't wait to play more.

For such an excellent RPG, I don't feel like it gets brought up in enough conversations. Easily my #2 FF game, right below 7. I should replay it sometime soon.

The Last Campfire - Excellent presentation. Mediocre gameplay. I kept waiting for the puzzles to expand on what you've learned before and become more complicated, but they never did. A few of them were randomly more difficult, but that was because if you messed up one move early on, it became unsolvable. Bad design, especially because there's no quick reset. Narrator has a cute accent, though.

I've decided to abandon Suikoden I. The game is too archaic and clunky for me. I still plan to play part2 someday because apparently its a great improvement but that day is not today or tomorrow.

I'll be hopping on Mechwarriors 5: Mercenaries for now since thats what the boys are playing; see if it sticks enough to play singleplayer.

You should play Visual Novels 👀

I had it on my physical collection for a while.

Aeterna Noctis.

5 hours in.
It is incredible. As far as I'm concerned, this is superior to Hollow Knight. I play on normal and not the original hard mode.
And OMG that music. The second main boss was a feast for the ears.

Can't wait for the sequel this fall.
