Do you mean the lag / frame rate issues? Yeah, it seems it's not something everyone experiences. I was told it was an AMD thing but then on Steam I guy stated he's a AMD user and didn't have such issues. It's puzzling :( Because I really like the game on consoles.
 
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) was ported to PC (DOS) and was impossible to complete because they made a ceiling too low to make a mandatory jump.

Dark Souls fell well below the expectations for most PC games, but there weren't any major game-breaking bugs introduced and it was perfectly playable as long as you used a controller. I'd call it a disappointing port, but not necessarily a bad one.

- But you can't input text with the keyboard, lol (it's done with the arrow keys).
- It's a game that runs on Wii and DS but has nasty lagging / frame rate issues on some modern PCs that can run the sequel without issues.

No, I used a controller just fine with it too.

Also, I played it on a 5770 when I got it with no issues. I had to disable AA to get a constant 60FPS, but no biggie.
 
Saints Row 2: Got hit by a nasty bug in Win7, fixed in Win8
Dark Souls: Runs well, rending code from the 90's aside (also weird K/M controls)
GTAIV (and SA, VC, 3) Poorly optimized, but at least the K/M controls don't stink

Let's talk about actual bad ports:
Sonic Generations/First Sonic Kart: WAY WAY WAY not optimized, weird keyboard crap
Resident Evil 4: what is a mouse
The entire Mega Man DOS series
Licensed games that use PS2 as the base platform for the PC port
The Lion King: driver issues made this port infamous at release
Gears of War: couldn't be played for a period of time due to the key being expired, saves going missing for no reason
 
I seem to remember The Force Unleashed being terrible. It ran like horseshit and took like 20 gigs or so of hard drive space for some reason. But I'm sure there's worse than this.

You kidding? In Vice City, mouse speed only affects the horizontal speed, not the vertical.
 
@cyberheater, DyslexicAlucard: I can set it to 640x480, low textures, no shadows, no motion blur, no anything - and I experience the same issues. On a PC that runs Transformed without issues. When I mentioned it here on GAF and on Steam several people said they experienced the same problems. I really don't know what could be the cause :(

Oh, and I admittedly don't play with a 360 controller.
 
Surprised so many had trouble with GTA4, i never had many issues with it apart from GFWL being a dick.

RE4 gets my vote, that was woeful. And yeah Force Unleashed was awful too.
 
GTA 4, closely followed by SR2. Both turds of the highest magnitude and neither should have been released in the state they were. Thankfully SR3 ran perfectly for me (although I think I remember peeps with ATI cards having issues) and I really hope Rockstar make a good GTA5 port.

I'm surprised to see Dark Souls here. Even without the godly day 1 DSfix, the game is 100% playable, and in fact, has a better frame rate than the console versions. The port was as barebones as a port can get, but it didn't crash or force people to use any kind of mod or fix to play and enjoy.
 
King Kong was a port of the PS2 version. It looked like ass compared to the 360 version.
FFXI is a poly-for-poly, texel-for-texel PS2 port that also has no lighting improvements of any kind. You also have to force AF and MSAA flat-out isn't possible.

I just played and beat this on sunday and had none of your issues, ran perfectly.

+1 for Saints Row 2, the pc game I had the most problems with to date, with 350+ games and counting.

Am I remembering correctly that there was no way to exit the game? I vaguely recall a PC port without any exit option in the menu.

I stopped playing it, because the port sucks so much undead ass. I can run a lot of games at 1080p with most, if not all, settings at Ultra. Dead Island only runs playable at 720p. Doesn't matter what settings i reduce to medium/low, at 1080p i get around 20 fps.

If i had known beforehand, i would have gotten a console version.
 
Yeah, my PC is kinda old, but it's quite a bit more powerful than PS360, and that's reflected clearly in most games.
GTAIV runs like shit, far worse than my 360 copy. It's completely unplayable.

Dark Souls and Bully, which I see have already been mentioned.

They are both really crappy ports, and Dark Souls is a real shame because you need a mod to make it run good.

You need a mod to make Dark Souls LOOK good. It runs just fine, and quite a bit better than the console versions in most problem areas.
 
Worst I can think of (that I actually played) was Street Fighter II. I thought it was hilarious that my uncle even had it, but I played it and was immediately like "Ewwwww"

I never had any problems with GTA IV except for a crash every once in a long while.

Saints Row 2 takes the cake for me. Unplayable, unsupported, and practically unforgivable. That was actually CDProjekt's fault, wasn't it?

Oh wow, I remember that one. Back when I got Spiderman 2 on my original Xbox, I convinced a friend of mine who only played on PC to get it, not knowing then that the games differed significantly from platform to platform. He was pretty irritated for a few weeks.

Weird to look back on that now in a world were, aside from performance, games are identical across everything.
