What we know about Legend of Zelda Wii prior to E3 2010

I can tell Nintendo's staff has really been galvanized by you. I can tell they feel like you did what they hadn't yet," Iwata said in a conversation with Monster Hunter Tri game director Kaname Fujioka and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. "Looking at the graphics objectively, I feel like the game's visuals are one of the representative examples of what can ultimately be done with Wii. I think it [Monster Hunter Tri] has placed the Zelda team under a considerable amount of pressure.

So....this gives me the impression that the game will use the more traditional graphical style (TP, OOT, MM) as opposed to WW. Obviously I could be wrong, I just find it strange that they'd mention MH3's graphics if the new Zelda's style wasn't similar.

Anyone have a link to this quote? Maybe some more context?

Dual release For Wii and "Next Wii" a la Twilight Princess...I hope
As long as it doesn't result in the game getting unneccessarily delayed then released later for the console it was originally intended for.

Let's also made dungeons 2 dimensional mazes and completely remove the tight integration items have with them. I've heard that idea countless times and while it might initially sound like a good idea, when you go back and see the dungeons in the first Zelda compared to TP, it's not possible
What are you talking about? I was only thinking of the overworld being really open-world like in the original. The dungeons can still have the same brilliance that Twilight Princess had.

The most impressive things graphically in Monster Hunter Tri were the Monster animations - so graceful, life like and beautiful especially for Lagiacirus (sp?). Also the night sky with the shooting stars were pretty nice.

I can just imagine what the bosses in Zelda Wii will look like.

More important to me is whether he's left or right handed. That's a game breaker for me.

You know he'll be right-handed. If they make him left-handed, then that means they're starting to cater to the minority and thus could possibly mean a WiiHD announcement. Oh fuuuu-

LEFTY PLEASE!

Mine was as well. That comparison pic really sells the theory to me.
Heh? I'm not a Zelda nut and this is actually the first time I saw that artwork, but at the instant I saw the quotes "notice he's not holding a sword" and "artwork is important for the story" all it took was a glance to realize that the girl is the sword. You know, metal face, "edge-y" features and that large diamond.

Clever, but very predicable. Anthropomorphic weapons were featured in some quite popular anime/manga lately. I bet she'll shapeshift into other weapons/items as well (bow, hook, etc).

I much rather have a small overworld packed with a lot of content (secret passages, characters, more interaction with environment etc.) than a vast overworld with less content. I hope it doesn't strive for realism. I like to play video games that are "gamey" because the game can be more imaginative.

So is this gonna be THE THREAD when it's announced? Or can we still expect 20 "LEGEND OF ZELDA OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED" threads on E3 day?

It's E3, dude. But at least the excess threads will probably be locked quickly.

I just hope they give Princess Zelda a nice big part to play. Spirit Tracks was a step in the right direction.

if the art style will be similar to MH3, that will be great. lets just hope it runs better than <H3 (no to few load times)

If it's releasing this year, and not 2012, then there's no chance of that.

Yeah, Nintendo wouldn't release a handheld and console in the same year. Wii 2 is still at least a year and a half off, if not more.

Go back and play TP. I completely agree that the beginning sucks (I tried to replay it recently, couldn't bare to do it) but after the first dungeon the game just picks up and doesn't slow down.
I'll go back and play it sometime soon. Going to finish SMG2 first and then go back and see if I find SMG1 any better than the first time I tried to play it and again, couldn't force myself to play past like 40%

It should also be noted that this game has a different director and that Aonuma is setting with Miyamoto in the producer role IIRC.

Yeah I thought you were referring to what most people who say it should be like the original say, that you should just be able to go through dungeons in any order

I'm replaying Twilight Princess now and one thing that I really would love to see it's a more mature story. The adult link in the picture gives me hope on that. I think that the Zelda Universe can safely take some risky routes, it's not like it should always be "defeat Ganondorf, save Zelda".

Leave that to Mario games.

This is good news from my perspective. Infuse some new energy into the series while having the masters watch over you.

I guess this is a bad installment to ask for a way to do a swordless quest again, huh?
Eh, I still like Archery more than Swordfighting.

Shit, I like Frisbee more than Swordfighting too. Actually Swordfighting is overrated.

I just want a change to the formula.

Im saying get rid of the dungeons but the idea of getting three pieces of a magical item than 5/6 of another item has to be changed.

Holy crap if Aonuma looks old in that picture.

I'm worried about the left handed option, but lets wait and see. I can't believe no one has asked about that in interviews.

example please

Link needs to have a big scar and he needs to say "GANOOOOOOOOOON!" every time he enters a dungeon. he should also bellow the name of the boss instead of having it displayed on screen.

"GOHMA! I've come to destroy you!"

I heard Kratos when I read this.

Playing a Zelda game as Kratos would be so amazing :lol

gee i wonder where it will fall in the TIMELINE (which we should really talk about)

It seems to deal with the creation of the Master Sword, so, before Ocarina.

More importantly, will Ganondorf be in there?

I bet this Zelda is going to be Vitality Sensor's killer app. Not sure how tho. And evidence that the Girl is the Master Sword is pretty solid.
