What!? Wolverine founded the X-Men? Marvel announces 'The First X-Men' by Adams/Gage.

Have they ever explained what caused Mutants to appear? If it is evolution why would it all happen around the same time?

atomic energy I think. they are the children of the atom. I think they even mention this in First Class. I think the x-gene was always there but the addition of nuclear particles into the atmosphere activated it prematurely.

So what is the excuse for Wolverine? Mystic? Or more importantly Apocolypse?

The potential for being a mutant is always in the human dna. And they cropped up from time to time in history. But they didn't really get numerous until the 50s with atomic weapons testing.

Does it matter? If they ever did they'll just retcon it and Wolverine will be the cause of al mutants.

I got to say, this kinda thing is a bit crazy.

It's not like Marvel ever made it so the only reason Cap could handle the serum was because Wolverine gave a pep talk, they just met.

Given the amount of times they play with Wolverine having something to do with creating the X Men I more weirded by the negative reaction here. I don't remember seeing everyone pissed because Spidey got a new book with DD and Punisher or the other 30 billion things he will be in this year.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. As mucha s I love Wolverine he is very much something that works well when he is bounced off of someone else, and I don't care for long living mutants so I kinda skip the origin shit most of the time.

I guess I was hoping it would be a cool and believable reason, but I guess we can't have nice things

There can never be nice things in comics. More correctly, the nice things are always trampled by the next guy, who doesn't get or care what made it nice in the first place.

Give it time. Some shitty writer hasn't pitched it yet.

This is why I stopped reading comics again.

Edit- ugh, sorry, just pissed at stories like this, delving into the past and fucking around with things.

Awful idea, but... Christos Gage is a good writer.

Something about the Celestials i think. Apparently they go around screwing with the dna of creatures on various planets just to be dicks.

This is my favorite part:
There will also be some of Magneto killing Nazis.
Just the way it's nonchalantly mentioned, so good.

That's what you take from this? People aren't hating Wolverine. They are hating his overuse/misuse here.

*hugs*

I would agree if it was something that was actaully new, this isn't. As I mentioned the only thing here is how boring the attempt to work Wolverine in to early X Men is.

I want to mention again that I don't like the way bolding is used in comics. It looks more like a way to highlight nouns and ideas rather than to convey inflection or tone. When the text makes it obvious that it's supposed to be read and not "heard in your head", it kind of breaks the immersion.

Eh guess I just disagree.

Don't really see anything wrong, and so long as I get a few scenes that are awesome and another excuse to have Mag be a bit younger and a badass I will take it.

Eh buy what you like. This would have been fine as a What If?

As canon it's one of the worst bit of creative bankruptcy ever.

I remember similar things beind said about Wolverine leading his own team of X Men and them having the balls to have him be the one to resetup the school and be the Prince.

Granted I have little faith that this will end nearly as well, but still I want to hope that it does.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

That Wolverine leading a team of X Men and starting the school was bullshit and creativly bankrupt and in no way should be what the character was used for.

Not that you said it, I saw it plenty and frankly I think WaTXM proved the naysayers wrong so I want to give this a shot. I just don't like Solo Wolverine so I hope he isn't focused on to much.

I don't see this as remotely the same. Like I said buy what you like. But don't pretend that people don't have a place in saying this is ridiculous.

What I have learned from this is that Sabertooth was actually a founding member of both the X-men and the Avenger before either team really existed.

I don't see this as remotely the same.

For story purposes? Of course not, having Wolverine be the kick start for X Men is dumb at face value no matter what.

That said, if it's done with half the skill or charm of WaTXM then they could make the boring and over used idea work. Lord knows if they keep trying they might actually make one decent storyline out of the idea.

Also I never claimed it wasn't okay for people to bitch.

The fact is at this point some people would bitch no matter what the book was simply because Wolverine was involved.

Well they are already merging 616 and Ultimate with Spidermen so they might as well open the floodgates. Not too mention adding Miles Morales in Spiderman Season 1, which is considered cannon as well.
