What Would Be Considered Losing Your Virginity?

My best friend and I were having a conversation before about losing your virginity. See a few nights ago I was hanging around a few of my extremely Catholic friends who were talking about losing your virginity. According to them, losing your virginity is getting oral from a girl.

My best friend and I agreed that you don't lose your virginity after you get a blow job. However, we started to wonder, what do other people consider losing their virginity, for each type of sexual orientation. For instance, what would a homosexual girl consider losing their virginity? Or a homosexual man?

It's kind of an interesting topic because there's so many forms of sex.

Penis in vagina. Accept no substitutes.

You's a freak if your first penetration is anal (unless you're gay, obviously).

A guy sticking his penis in a pussy, or an ass.

and for a girl to receive a penis.

Oral for lesbian girls/gay guys who don't do anal.

I as a straight guy don't see oral as sex but as oral but that's just me.

i for one lost my virginity to asuka from evangelion when i printed out a sheet of paper with her and made love to it

i rolled it of course

i took the paper cuts on my manhood to be her virginal blood

For me having a sexual encounter is a reason enough for losing your virginity. Of course, penetration and everything is pretty much better but let's face it. If you have had a sexual encounter with someone, that lead to orgasms, you're pretty much aren't a virgin in the mindset anymore.

And yes, this is because I find the term 'technical virgin' such bullshit.

Yeah this is what intrigues me. As a lesbian, what would be considered sex? Scissoring? Oral?

oral pretty much but only one party will be feeling pleasure (sure the other chick will be horny as fuck but still..)

perhaps laying side by side rubbing each others pussys ?

then again two guys giving each other handjobs ain't sex.

Its a trick question to answer.

So lesbians don't have sex.

Lickouts,rubbing each other's pussys.

that's lesbian sex.

Penetration. Intercourse. Sticking your dick into some kind of hole. Oral doesn't count. You're friends don't know what the fuck they're taking about.

pretty much this. Reaching orgasm with someone else would make you a not virgin.

See this is when I start to think that sex is about pleasure. As much as sex is a form of reproduction, it's also a form of pleasure. Especially for a gay couple. So I guess any type of sexual pleasure could be considered a form of intercourse.

pretty much man, two naked people in a bed getting upto all sorts of fun basically.

Virginity is an outdated concept rooted in only dicks taking it.

I know plenty girls who have only done it with other girls.

I guess. The virginity that we talk about is biased to only one form of sexuality and disregarding every other form. When we talk about losing virginity now, it's more about passing a sexual milestone, so for a more ignorant and religious couple, losing your virginity could be getting a blowjob. Or in a gay couple's situation it could mean getting head, scissoring, etc.

Stereotypical heterosexual: I consider 'penis in vagina' the best form of sex. Everything else is just horseplay.

The problem with that, is how should we classify sex in this modern age, anyway? I would think anything that gives you an orgasm from receiving any form of pleasure from someone else, would be sex.

Virginity is another topic, though, an as Devo said, it's just a term rooted in old traditions and culture.

Right, but the concept is inherently flawed because people can't agree on the markers and settle for the old traditional heteronormative thought process that you only lose your virginity via dick penetration. It's expanded to include homosexual male sex in recent years but it's still quite skewed towards the idea that a penis needs to be involved.

The way I see it, based on the way virginity was defined in the past, if you have male/female vaginal sex (perhaps breaking the hymen), neither of you are virgins.

However, I believe the definition of virginity is a personal, intimate, and often religious thing. Nobody (hopefully) would say they're a virgin if they'd had male/female vaginal sex, but if two girls or guys fooled around, or someone was given oral or fingered, then whether they are virgins or not is up to how they feel, and I'd completely understand and accept it.

Of course, that's not to mean those who are virgins are inexperienced or haven't "been around the block."

In the past the male wouldn't even necessarily be considered a virgin, virginity is only asked/expected of the maiden upon copulation after a marriage ceremony.

that's pretty much summed up the entire debate, i'm hetro and think like that.

I'v achieved an orgasm with a bunch of dudes before, many gay people will see that as me having sex, but i see it as jerking of with my buddies.

complex shit.

Yeah. My friend and I started to ask ourselves if lesbians could really "lose their virginity." At the time I said that they really couldn't, but now you start to realize losing your virginity does not have to include a penis.

For instance, in our conversation I stated that some type of oral or strap-on would be considered some type of lesbian sex. However, it really doesn't as long as you find yourself having an orgasm or experiencing some type of sexual pleasure, anything could be considered losing your virginity.

Historically has to do with sex for reproductive purposes...and normally reserved for the female.

It's generally a word given too much importance... contextually I'd say it simply could mean you either have or haven't had a significant sexual experience with another person.

This will always be the answer.

So let's sum it all up: it's when two people do take it as far as they can take it sexually.

For a straight man: penetrating.

For a straight woman: distinction between front and backside virginity. She can still technically claim "virginity" if she has the frontside.

For a gay man: penetrating or being penetrated.

For a gay woman: Oral, dildo or whatever.
