box_158679-hd.jpg

Let's see...

Finishing my BFBC2 achievements/ kicking ass with 360 GAF

Finishing FFXIII.

Then...

RDR
Alan Wake
Dragon Age
2nd ME2 runthrough
Brutal Legend.

Fuck that's enough gaming for a summer, and I still need to pick up Splinter Cell and Alpha Protocol at least.

Red Dead Redemption (SP gameplay - just started)
Assassin's Creed 2 (SP gameplay)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (MP gameplay)
The Witcher (over 80 hours in and close to finishing Act 3 - continuous PC playthrough)
Harvest Moon DS (continuous playthrough)

Been playing SMG2 these past few days. Luckily the save file is transferable, because I'm traveling. The game is pure <3

So I've been on a bit of a "kind of crappy open world game" kick this week, and played a bunch of:
spider-man-web-of-shadows-20080724111349370_640w.jpg

which really isn't that good of a game, and thank God the next Spider-Man game isn't open world because hopefully it won't suck this time. Then I went back and played some of:
wheelman.jpg

and to be honest, in spite of being kind of janky and annoying in spots, the Wheelman is actually pretty fun. Then I realized that I'm an idiot and I could be playing games I actually like, so I started playing:
split-second-04.jpg_626.jpg

and will probably go back to

And now comes the huge decision for this weekend: Mario Galaxy or Alan Wake...

Captain Commando is getting rough at the third stage. First boss was pretty easy to learn, you just blast him with rockets. Second boss seemed invincible until I learned to stay in close. But the boss of the Ninja House seems like he'll pull a body slash out of nowhere.

Lost Planet 2 co-op is more fun than I'd expect given some of the things I've heard about it. We'll see if the checkpoint pacing really is shitty. Love how Lost Planet feels, with the stun times all over the place. Only playing co-op, so progress is slow.

I finally hit 10k in Crazy Taxi. I have no clue why it took me a decade to go from S to Awesome. I'm still kinda scratching my head over the customer placement and what determines what customers will want rides. Finally settled on a character, too. Gena. Gotta get 20k!

I told some friends about ahl_5am and we all installed Action Half-Life. I guess the map has had some kinda boom lately, since I can actually find things about it online that weren't written by me. We got further than I had ever seen, finally figuring out 7am, but we didn't reach the end. As far as I can tell, there aren't any guides or anything that cover the end, and I'm kinda frustrated that I can't tell if there is an ending.

Decided to start Super Mario Galaxy two or so days ago. Very cute, very flashy, and definitely not as insulting as NSMB DS. I like it.

Red Dead Redemption is good, but I do get kinda burnt out plowing through the missions. Really get tired of all the conversations you can't skip during missions. The horseback chatter, I guess. The non-mission stuff you see while roaming around is largely great, though, and the end result is kind of the opposite of other Rockstar games I've played because of that.

360:

Alan Wake - On the 3rd episode and planning to finish it this weekend.
Super Street Fighter IV - Playing endless battles with 3 more friends - so much fun!
Splinter Cell: Conviction - On the last level on Realistic and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.
Lost Planet 2 - Today hopefully we will start playing in 4 player co-op, I can't wait!

PS3:

Shatter - Plays great, looks really nice and sounds awesome - I love it.

I'm halfway through the final dungeon in 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Booted up both Day of Defeat: Source and Team Fortress 2 for the first time ever.
Played Yakuza 3 for a few minutes.
Going through my old Atari ST games and played some Airball.

3 out of 4 games for GOTY is out this month. its ridiculous

- Alan Wake (true sequel to Resident evil 4)
- Red dead (rockstars best game this gen)
- Galaxy2
- Mass Effect 2

Been playing some Red Dead, no one does Worlds like Rockstar. I love Grand Theft Auto but when they branch out some really great stuff happens - wish they would just continue to make original games like Bully and Red Dead (eh, first one doesn't REALLY count - does it?)

Alan wake is not only game of the year but has taken the crown of game of the generation.

If anyone is planning on picking this up, don't ruin the experience and play amidst a bunch of friends or anything of that sort.

Play at night, turn off the lights, grab a coffee, and you better have that 5.1 surround sound. This game is absolutely amazing

Well, in no particular order of what WILL be played, at least a little of, during the weekend.

Red Dead Redemption
Alan Wake
Split/Second
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Backbreaker demo

Finally got to this last week, but didn't end up finishing until Tuesday due to ACen. Currently on chapter 18 on my second playthrough (Hard). Going to give online a try after my Crushing run.

Red Dead Redemption: 5 hours in. Loving it so far.
Lost Planet 2: MP seems terrible, will try SP.
Alan Wake: Beat chapter 1, seems pretty neat.
Mario Galaxy 2: Just got it, will pop it in tonight.
New Super Mario Bros Wii: Try to play MP with bro.

there is only one goty so far, just like last year

Bayonetta this year, nothing is even close so far

Demon's Souls last year, again nothing was close.

of course i'm biased towards gameplay, and awesome games..

wow! - like you read my mind, dude! :) ...

tho, considering i actually played bayo last year, i'd say resonance of fate, followed by rdr (which i'll be riding thru this weekend)...

The GOTY released back on the 16th of March however right now I'm on:

Red Dead Redemption
Prince of Persia: TFS
3D Dot Game Heroes
a little Darksiders

Little bit of Red Dead Redemption although I'm disappointed at just how GTA the game is instead of being it's own entity. The setting, graphics and soundtrack are great but the gameplay, mission and world structure are lifted almost wholesale from GTAIV and I've already played that game to death. I really hope RDR is not GoTY material because there's not alot of originality or freshness.

Trauma Team is very good. I'm not as far in as I'd like to be but kudos to Atlas for another cool experience.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 yeah baby! Char + Hyaku Shiki = mad fun.

Just started Alan Wake yesterday and Red Dead Redemption arrived today.

From what I hear about RDR being so amazing, Alan Wake may go on the back burner simply due to a lack of time.

The only 2010 releases I've finished are Mass Effect 2 and Conviction. I kind of finished Heavy Rain. As in "I'm done spending time on this game" rather than completing the story. ME2 is my GoTY front runner. I still have a pretty tall stack of shame going back to 2009.

I also have Deadly Premonition sitting there, all shiny, calling out to me. I want to play it just to see the side stuff that was passed over in the Giant Bomb endurance runs.

Beat it, but still much to do (card, recipes, treasures). Good game, though I liked both Paper Mario games better, despite platformers being my favorite genre.

Started playing again. On Normal, beat the game with the required 22 rings, now going again to find all red treasures and remaining rings.

I like it but it's wearing out its welcome rather quickly. Just started chapter 4 and I was ready for it to end roughly halfway through 3.

Final Fantasy XIII (which is my GOTY so far): Still discovering more areas in Chapter 11. I'm at the place where I can move on and finish the game, but I want to keep doing missions now.

Dragon Quest VIII: Making my way through the Black Citadel.

Chrono Trigger: Just arrived at the Fiendlord's Keep.
