What's it with mums not wanting their sons to put on too much muscle?

Anecdotal observation of course. Only just started lifting weights and I have possessed the often termed 'noob gains' and already I'm being hit with the don't get to muscly schlock. I've noticed friends make the same complaints and it is often noted in fitness boards.

So what is the deal. A little muscle and suddenly the fear of you becoming that bodybuilding guy kicks in?

This is a fun thread of course, I'm not actually complaining.

Put on a little muscle, then you start putting on more cause you like that little you have and want more.

Now you're that guy who schedules his life around the gym.

Muscles are a sign of power, which is basically sex. Moms don't want that.

Grow those goddamn muscles, fellas.

moms feel very strongly about their kids being attractive, they're probably just asserting that they don't think their sons are pretty

you are ugly basicaly

What's the deal with incest porn. There are actually a few porn stars that I think look like my sister and I can't even climax to that shit.

How old are you? Maybe your mom's taste in men coincide with the era in which she was at peak sexual thirst. And that just reflects how she views modern women still perceive attractiveness of men.

In the 70's, a lot of men were lanky.

Also, anyone who warns you not to put on too much muscle doesn't fucking have any. Muscle takes work. You don't slip and fall into a puddle of mass.

Increased testosterone makes people do crazy shit
See NFL, MMA, etc

Better than than all the weird CEI videos and shit on the sites nowadays. Like I want to see some guy's dick in a plastic lock with a lady talking shit about how little it is or whatever.

You'll hear the same comment from wives and GFs. It's a comment based on ignorance. It takes years of dedication to build up enough mass to a point where the women saying this will find you unattractive. Most men that hit up the gym to bulk up will never get that big.

Next time you hear that just nod your head and smile.

Mom's comment on how their children look in general; it's probably entirely anecdotal that you've noticed a pervelance of comments about not having too much muscle.

The people whose Mom's tell them their muscles are hot probably are curled up in the fetal position in the shower and not commenting on the Misc.

zyzz looks disgusting according to my mom
Most women would agree. The bodybuilder look isn't that preferred.

Athletic bodies tend to score higher in female desirability surveys. So think MMA fighter or swimmer.

That said you should pursue your physique goals for yourself not for others.

Whats your moms opinion about this?

Mothers see their children as their babies. A big muscle-man is about as far opposite as you can get from a baby. She wants you to be her child forever.

Man, this thing has baffled me since I heard it for the first out of like hundreds of times by people IRL. Like Arnold just picked up a barbell one day, and three months later, he had his Atlas figure.

These people have no respect for just how much work, dedication, consistency, and drive goes into bodybuilding. It takes years of hard work to even look appreciably bulky with a shirt on.

She doesn't want to have to buy and cook you twice the food and your probably being a lot more selective about what you eat now too... bulking up ain't cheap.
