What's the absolute worst game you paid money for in the 7th generation?

Rhythmn Heaven Wii. This is the kind of game I'd expect to download to my phone for $1 and then delete after seeing how boring it was.

Okay, so I rolled my eyes at all AAA 90+ Metacritic game posts, but this one I'll bite. Do you like/have you played any other rhythm games at all?

A coop Aliens game straight from the makers of the awesome Borderlands series?

Sign me up!!

Wow what a turd it turned out to be. Such a disappointment. :(

I've certainly had a lot of disappointments and played through a bunch of mediocrity throughout the gen, but when it comes to being straight up bad I think I have to give the dishonour to the recent Rise of the Triad release. Thankfully I didn't pay too much for it as it only set me back about $3, but those were a few hours I wish I could get back.

Terrible game. Not only did the console versions look awful, the scripting, pathfinding, mission structure, saving/quicksaving, team and enemy AI, everything was subpar at best. Multiplayer was completely broken.

I enjoyed Elite Beat Agents. I bought RH because it was $5, and traded in for more than I paid, so there was no risk in trying it out.

This was the generation when I got smart about purchasing games.

I'm gonna have to go with Gears 3 and Telltale's The Walking Dead. Both games were really formulaic, predictable and a total chore to play. Had to force myself to finish them.

A bit of a tough one, I don't generally buy bad games. But if I had to pick one, I'd say Resident Evil 5, not necessarily a bad game, but rather disappointing after RE4. Also, the braindead AI caused me to put the game away for months after I failed a mission several times b/c Sheva thought it'd be a good idea to pick up mines I set down for the chainsaw guy >.<

As far as full price day one(ish) purchases:

Granted I like playing it now, but only to break it. Never have been able to finish the whole damn thing, though.

This x100 times this.
It's funny a bunch of other games people have been listing I've enjoyed like Dragon Age 2 or FFXIII but this Sonic? My God what a piece of shit.

Metroid: Other M or Too Human. Other people have gone over Metroid in-depth, while Too Human is jus hilariously bad. The story is bad, the controls are bad, the level "design" is horrendous, I can't think of a single good thing to say about it other than that it's kids entertaining how poorly-made it is.

Reading everyone's responses I think we can all agree there are two feelings:

1: I can't believe I spent 8, 5, or 10 bucks on this. I could have grabbed a meal instead

2: I paid $60 bucks for this! I like it!!! I really do! *grits teeth*
Love it!

These two feelings cover almost every entry into this thread.
Pouring one out for y'all and the lost Jackson's.

Elebits, Epic Mickey, Little Big Planet PSP, Yoshi Touch and Go, and Resistance Retribution have to be the worst games I bought last gen, all at full retail price.

I don't really buy bad games or games on a whim. I guess Final Fantasy XIII. I was such a massive fan of the series before that. So boring.

I hated Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma with a passion. I completed both of them, but I will never touch games of that type again.

Cant say I enjoyed God of War that much either but I didnt think it was bad per se, just didnt enjoy it.

MGS4_European_Cover.jpg

This was actually my first time playing a Metal Gear Solid game. Holy crap, what a piece of shit. It was actually my first PS3 game after making the 360 --> PS3 switch. I heard about all of these vaunted PS3 exclusives, and MGS4 was my first taste. Bad, bad decision.

Ground Zeroes gameplay and level design looks much better, so I may try the series again when Phantom Pain releases.

Why would you go right into MGS4 without playing any of the other games? Bad, bad decision alright. MGS4 is meant to tie up loose ends. And by no means a piece of shit game, you have flawed taste.

Final Fantasy XIII, I also dont get the hate for dead space 3, its the closest adaptation to the movie The Thing we will get this generation.

If we're talking full price: Brink or Borderlands.

Brink was average-ish gameplay wise, but once I beat both campaign things in two sittings and my friend told me there was no multiplayer modes, and that you're expected to just constantly replaying the story missions I said "nope" and haven't played it since.

Borderlands cause the gunplay was awful, the humor was unfunny, the powers for each character were boring, and the "gorillian guns" was actually handful of guns with random colors and random attachments.

I think i did a fairly good job of avoiding paying good money on total stinkers this gen for the most part.

FFXIII, and Tomb Raider were rentals so I was only out a couple of bucks on those.

No More Heroes 2 was a birthday gift so I didn't spend anything on it.

Infinite Undiscovery was pretty bad but I got used so it was 20$

Full price the only thing I can think of is Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Total waste of 50$ and a Friday night.

hahahahahahah wat

a game that has as its core a fundamental design choice to be mind bunglingly tedious for the sake of pushing you towards microtransactions. everything wrong with gaming right now.
on top of everything it had laughingly bad writing and not the proper atmosphere

Why would you go right into MGS4 without playing any of the other games? Bad, bad decision alright. MGS4 is meant to tie up loose ends.

You can't play MGS4 without having played the other ones (and quite recently too). People seem to be forgetting that a lot.
