Do you bitter critters still think PS5 is cemented as PlayStation's worst generation?

Yes true. PC handhelds and the Switch aren't competing with PlayStation the same way the Xbox, Sega's consoles, and even N64 were. Even the Switch was competing more with the PS4 than the PS5. And didn't Sony just admit that they don't see Switch/Nintendo as a competitor?
Xbox, Sega's consoles and N64 were direct competition because they offered pretty much the same and were fighting for the same target user.

Switch or PC handhelds or desktop/laptop PCs aren't direct competition. Because even if there's an relatively small overlap and competition, their offerings are pretty different and their target users are pretty different.

Cool so we're using authority fallacy now
No, I'm just saying I researched a lot about it and know what I'm talking about, so I have a more informed opinion than the random player who didn't make that research. This is a fact, not a fallacy.

Lol. Says who?
It's a fact that every year we get many thousands of games released for PS + Switch + Steam + mobile + etc, you can check it in their stores or oficial numbers.

Many old popular systems only got a few thousand games not per year, but instead in their whole lifetime. Some less popular or really, really old systems got only a few dozen games or a few hundreds.

Regarding the average quality yes. In the very old time not only most of the games were already crap that even then nobody cared about or knew about them. Many games that we considered them good or very good weren't really that good, but we perceived them as so when compared to the other stuff we had and was even worse.

I don't know how anyone can disagree with this. Creativity is dead because it incurs more risk. It's a reflection on the high game development costs today.
People can disagree if researchs to be properly informed about it.

Even if there are companies like Sony or Ubisoft who from time to time does innovative stuff, regarding traditional big games from big traditional big companies in traditional big platforms yes, they normally bet on what already works. Specially as every generation the AAA game budgets keep increasing and the stores keep getting more saturated.

Most of the real innovation normally isn't there, but instead in small projects, often from small or new teams, and often using new/emerging platforms, technologies, business models, etc.

Things you normally reject because they are new and different.

I'd say probably yes, simply based on the fact that the first 2+ years were heavily watered down because of a giant pandemic. The gen has since been behind…it will get rolling in about a year, just in time for the next gen to come out. So, yes simply because two+ years are missing from it.

Sorry guys, but if you think the first 5 years of PS5 are worse than the first 5 years of PS3, you're delusional.

The only thing that the comparable period of PS3 has in terms of advantage is probably volume, which is hardly praiseworthy when in that gen games generally took considerably less time to make, and didn't have to contend with a global pandemic and forced shift to remote working.

PS3 had exclusives

PS3 had exclusives

Most of which are long forgotten because they weren't exactly great in their day, and have not been reevaluated as lost masterpieces.

The press were basically calling Playstation done at the equivalent point, and then the PSN hack happened...

Honestly had Xbox not comprehensively shat the bed from 2010 onwards, they might have actually gone under.

Or maybe even one game from Naughty Dog this gen. Got spoiled with three last gen.

They have what they hope to be their biggest game ever coming but everyone hates it because they seem a bald girl in the none gameplay trailer.

Then there is a second game from them coming , Naughty Dog switch gears every generation though they went from 3D platformers to Dude Raider then a emotional rollercoaster story driven zombie apocalypse game , you never know what you will get from Naughty Dog in a generation transition, how do you know you will be happy with whatever path they take this time?

That Resident Evil Requiem game looks like it could be just as good as The Last Of Us why do you need Naughty Dog to enjoy your console? My favorite Naughty Dog games was Crash Bandicoot but Naughty Dog no longer making Crash games didn't affect my enjoyment of PS2 , PS3 , PS4 or PS5 .

That ugly 007 game could possibly be as good as Uncharted 4 😂 ok I'll stop here 😭 . My point being we are forum dwellers we know who make the games & care about that stuff but the masses don't care who the games come from if it's a hit it's a hit.
Mod of War Mod of War EviLore EviLore can one of you guys add a poll to end up this discussion once for all?
Why would a poll matter when most of you are always wrong when it comes to consumer products?

Xbox Series X was going to kill PS5 if it was up to the forum & Switch was going to be a failure until it wasn't 😂

What's the problem you can't back up anything but want to be able to press a button to say someone else is wrong? Lol

Did I say I needed ND in order to enjoy my console? No...I didn't. You might as well be talking to yourself here.

I am a weird case. I'm old, been around since the advent of computers. I've owned pretty much every mainstream console ever at some point. Each generation I used to tend towards getting each console eventually.

I have skipped the Xboxs after the 360 as the overlap with PC was huge, and the games they were producing weren't really my taste.

I keep a spreadsheet of all my games. This might be the last gen of Playstation for me. I think this picture explains why.

Before anyone asks, the played column isn't accurate, I thought I would be fastidious and record them but realized I don't care enough to keep that up-to-date :)

Dude created a thread to bitch about a poll and ..... bumped his own thread after a week.

Desperately need for confirmation bias if I ever saw one.

Really is. And none of it makes sense. I get a response like I did just from saying I'd like to see more Naughty Dog games and I'm left shaking my head in disbelief. What the fuck is this thread?

We already had a poll. It showed PS5 the "winner," far and away. onQ got annoyed in that thread, saying that people's opinions were wrong because sales numbers were really good for PS5. He did not have much success with that line of argument there, so now he is carrying his objection over to this new thread.

But we already had a poll. In fact, there was a second poll posted a few weeks after the first, and the mods took it down, presumably because that territory had already been covered.

so because some first party acclaimed ps5 games came out on pc 2 years later it no longer has games? Is that the logic people are using here? I don't get how Horizon 2, Returnal, spidey 2, god of war rag, GT7, Ratchet, ds2, stellar blade, demons souls, and we can go on with the list war is a bad first party output compared to the ps1 and 2 which barely had first party games and were carried by 3rd parties. Also not everyone has. A 1.5K+ gaming pc that can run these better versions of these games on pc. But alas it's the worst generation. But also the first you can play ps1-2-3-4-5 and p games through a sub service and only on said console.

Makes sense if you transitioned to a premium high spec pc experience. Hey you are a lesson for Sony, but idk if they are going to stop dropping their first party on pc 2 years after release on PS as they are seeing success on that platform. Just crazy how releasing the games years later on pc invalidates the fact they are coming out on PS.

I think most who are expressing dissatisfaction here are disappointed with the overall output of first party games rather than the fact that they come out on PC. I'm not going to do list war stuff, but my opinion is PS3 and PS4 were much better generation for Sony first party studios. For me, that's the bread and butter of a console, or used to be. Also should be said that PS5 being the "worst generation" doesn't mean it is necessarily bad. Just that prior generations were a lot better. And that makes waiting for the PC version that much easier.

This is completely subjective though. I'm not going to try to tell you that you are wrong. If you think this gen is great then that's all that matters.

OP you have cited one exclusive game, the rest is on pc. replacing your cheap pc by a ps5 to play fortnite and the likes is not greatest playstation gen ever.

On ps3 and ps4 those consoles had tens of exclusive that stay that way for years, if not decade. all of them brought something interesting. another fortnite or cod clone does nothing to me.

I can play most games released in this thing in my PC which utterly destroys it in every possible way, saving the cash to actually purchase more games in steam rather than having another huge paperweight at home. The Switch at least as a ton of fantastic exclusive games that justify its existence, worth having it around. If it serves for anything, I have owned PS2, PSP, PS3 and PS4 alongside other consoles at the time, all of them were great.
