What's the best way to hook up a Dreamcast?

Back when I had my original system, I had an official VGA cable from Sega which I hooked up to my PC monitor over VGA. It was a wonderful setup

Now that I'm rebuilding my Dreamcast collection, I am curious if there is a best/modern way to connect the Dreamcast?

I have HDMI capture cards, HDMI screens, and one JVC analog monitor.

I have seen the Hyperkind and Pound HDMI cable adapters, I haven't used them.

shove it up your butt

Pound HDMI is solid solution. My mate has it setup and I was quite impressed.

There's an HDMI mod that's probably the easiest way to do hook up a Dreamcast these days. If you wanna keep it more "authentic", though, get something from BeharBros, which I swear is not a no-no site:

I think the best one is still the TORO, which gives you VGA and SCART out options, for games that don't play nicely with the VGA box.

Or you could get the Akura, and just do HDMI.

Either way, those guys have what you need.

Edit: Actually, the post above has good advice, too.

Edit Edit: Well, it was good advice about shoving up your butt.

The best way to hook up a Sega Dreamcast is via the DCDigital HDMI mod (formerly DCHDMI):

Allows digital 1080p output (960p + black bars) and digital audio instead of analog.

Digital Foundry Article/Video Here:

The easiest method is to purchase one of the many VGA to HDMI converters, such as the one from Pound.

The best way to play any console that was made pre-HDTV era is on an old CRTV. It may not sound so modern, but compare the CRT quality to modern day emulation for older consoles. It's undeniable that 6th Gen consoles come through much clearer on an older CRTV.

honestly I just use the composite cables the system came with. It looks great on HD TVs surprisingly. Tried the same with the PSX and it was a nightmare of course. If I cared more I would get a digital converter but it looks classic to me.

The HDMI mod is very nice. Actually, a few analog consoles uses some form of it, so it's basically the new standard to new TVs.
Dude I'm so used to political stuff that I read "What's the best way to hook up a Democrat?"

I used VGA till I upgraded to a 4K tv that doesn't have an input. Bought a vga to hdmi box. Too much clutter. Now I just use the pound hdmi cable.

My Dreamcast setup:
Scart cable into the OSSC. I still cant believe how good it looks on a modern HDTV.

The new Dreamcast scart cables from RetroAccess or RGC have a 15KHz/576i and 31KHz/480p switch - so you can bootup the previously unplayable thru VGA stuff like Treasure's masterpiece Bangai-O with glorious HD sharpness.

The bbs akura is probably the best quality 'no fuss' option. And if you want a true HD image go for the dchdmi but that involves internal modification. Also bear in mind that games that are not vga compatible will not work with either. But if you're on a budget even the cheap HD cables are fine.
