When a DJ does an Essential Mix on RadioOne...

Is there any chance of the set being released on a CD or anything? Sasha did a set on RadioOne in May, and all I can find is a mildly acceptable MP3 recording. I'd prefer a direct-audio copy, if possible. Does BBC sell these?

i wish they did. There are so many classics i would love to have.

unfortunately, your mp3 is probably the only way to keep that set.

i would, however love to be proven wrong

Probably too many licensing concerns to be worth their while.

If anyone does do it though, it will probably be Strange Fruit - they do a lot of BBC radio session and live concert releases.

Well that sucks. This Sasha set is amazing, and the quality is good, but it has that radio sound to it. Ah well.

It has that radio sound to it because most DJs will use FM compression when mastering their sets before sending them to radio.

See most notably: Armin Van Buuren

Now, if only iTunes let you make bookmarkable MP3 files. The damn thing lets you rip an entire audio CD into one file, yet it doesn't let you create bookmarks. The only way around it, from what I can tell, is to somehow make your MP3s into a Podcast or use some ugly shareware.

I think I'm just going to use Audition or something to seperate the tracks.

i've seen a few sets on Winamp Radio stations, but i can't remember who was DJing. More than likely they're just home recorded.
