When you bought your current gen systems did you get a bundle?

I got my xbox from ciruit city forced into a bundle with pgr3, nfl fever and an extra controller. picked up doa 3 and halo by my choice in addition for about 600 including tax

2 games and another controller is not bad. wtf is with todays bundles making you buy even more.

how much did you pay and what bundles did you get?

Don't get a bundle if you don't want to, no one's "forcing you". Plenty of chains out there sell consoles at launch without bundles. I didn't buy bundles for any of my systems.

No bundle for me.

Well, unless you consider the PSP Value Pack a bundle or the X360 Premium pack a bundle. But I just buy the hardware and software seperately.

You wash your mouth out.

Seriously, though, if a bundle lets you get games/peripherals you actually want and save money, then go for it. Otherwise don't. It's as simple as that, surely?

Only system I can remember buying in a bundle is the GBA SP, which came with a Spyro game from the only shop in town that still had them in stock. Ended up paying about ÂŁ10 for the game, which seemed like a decent enough deal to me.

Well I bought the GT3 PS2 pack way back when, but that was an official Sony bundle. Can you imagine what launch PS2 bundles must've looked like? :lol

Sort of, I guess...got my GameCube with a $29.99 Metroid Prime deal, possibly the best purchase I've made this generation.

Eh, I fell for the PS2 hype and ordered a bundle through Amazon. Got Madden 2001, dynasty warriors (3?) and Summoner. Cost me like $530.

Bought my cube in store - no bundle.

Recieved an Xbox bundle for xmas with an extra controller, NFL Fever,Halo and DOA3-plus six months of EGM. I believe that was through Amazon as well and cost like $550.

I was sucker, but not anymore. I'll probably wait till each new system hits $199 or so and pick from a plethera of great games. :)

I've always refused to buy bundles. I usually don't get systems at launch either though. I wouldn't mind buying one if I got to choose the games/accessories, but if something's forced on me I don't want, fuck 'em.

The PS2 was the only one I got with no bundle (waited overnight at Best Buy). Even when they bundled them it really did not bother me because I was buying the 3 games and extra controller anyway.

What kind of dumbass buys a new console with no games anyway?

I remember when I tried to buy a PS2, January 2001...
it was sold out everywhere... And when I found a shop in NYC that had it, they wanted me to buy 10 games or DVDS to be able to buy a PS2 !HA!

I lol'd

it took me another 4 years to actually buy one.

yea mine came with one of these

No, but I have a 360 bundle preordered. I went to EB today to see if I could preorder there and they told me I was SOL till after New Years :lol

I still think I'll be able to pick one up in a store on launch day though.

Only system I ever bought at launch was the Dreamcast...no bundle...got it with Sonic Adventure and Soul Calibur, all three items were pre-ordered at EB.

I've never bought a bundle.

The only way I would buy a bundle is if it would actually save me money for things I would buy anyway. But usually it's a bunch of 3rd party crap or stuff I don't want, so eff 'em. Never had a problem getting a system on launch day either. :) Just have to know where to go. (hint: not EB or Gamestop)

The only bundle I've ever done was a PS2 bundle through EBgames.com (at launch). It wasn't too bad because I was able to pick any 2 games I wanted and wasn't forced to add any peripherals, pre-selected games, mag subscription or bullshit store warranty type crap. But I won't ever do any future bundles unless EVERYTHING being offered was what I intended to buy at that time anyways (ala the PS2 bundle I did :))

With all three of them.

PS2 with The Bouncer, Onimusha 1, and an extra controller. Was around 500 bucks with tax and shipping.

GC with an extra controller, Memory Card 251, and Mario Sunshine.

Xbox with JSRF/Sega GT 2002, which I still think is the best deal ever.

Bundles be evil. Not only do the games advertised suck, even if they don't, I can guarantee it most likely won't be my cup of tea.

The day ____ bundles Atlus/etc RPGs with their system is the day I buy one. :P

Bundle with choice is good. Or bundle with games you wanted/gonna buy anyways. Me personally, I like to rent games so never get bundles unless its a cool package like a crystal xbox.

I don't mind bundles that come with games that I want - but it's better to have some choice in the matter.

Take for instance the 360, I don't mind the bundle itself - I'm just not happy with the games it comes with.

I'd rather have Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Call of Duty 2, and Condemned: Criminal Origins as my choices.

Launch PS2, I had to get Street Fighter EX3 and Ridge Racer V. RRV thankfully was rather excellent, and for some reason, most of the non-hardcore people that happen to come over and want some fighter to play like SFEX3. I really have no idea why.

And that's probably the first and last time I'll ever get a system bundle at launch.

Always got my consoles and launch and I never... ever bought or will buy a bundle.

The only thing bundles do is try to force you to buy things (accesories/games) you aren't interested in. No one buys a system with no games, but they at least buy the system with the games they want.

I got my GBA, GCN, and NDS on day one without bundles. Got my PS2 a year or two after launch. No bundles, but no big deal.

I guess technically I got my PSP as a bundle, but I was going to buy 5 games on launch anyway, so being forced to buy 3 wasn't much of a hassle, particularly since I could choose my games, and wasn't stuck with a forced pack.

I bought my PSP bundled at a Toys 'R' Us. But it wasn't a forced bundle - I could have bought the system by itself if I wanted to, and almost did. After looking over the deal I decided I wanted it. The package came with 3 games, all my choice; a nice starter kit; and a 1-year warranty, which I thought was a must.

I've never bought anything in a bundle except for the free pack-ins of the Golden Days of Gaming (Mario/Duck Hunt/Track and Field, Sonic, Super Mario World).

Does the 2 free bundled games when you buy the Xbox count?
Nah. The thread is about those lame bundles that are done by the retailers themselves. Retailers usually don't make much off of the consoles by themselves, due to extremely small profit margins. So they force bundles on consumers to make the moola off of software and accessories.

Well, then I had the most awesome bundle ever, it was at a Kaybee Toystore and my parents got me a PS2 bundled with the incredible game called 'nothing' for $330!! A PS2 bundled with 'nothing' for $330!!

I dont think I'd ever pay full retail for a newly released console (count me out of xbox360 until 1 or 2 price drops and RE5 or something), let alone some insane bundle, I dont even have that amount in the bank.

I always try to get shit second-hand, on special or on a good deal. Only exception is my gamecube because it was initially already cheaper and SSBM was coming out. Other than that, I got my PS2 on special (memory card, remote + game) for like 179$ 2 years back. I got my Xbox on the PGR2+Crinsom Skies bundle, still packaged, off some dude who won it for 200$, I think, that was a year ago.

All worthy purchases, but paying the equivalent of a GCN+PS2+XBOX for an XBox360? nah, talk to me in 2-3 years, or until something comes out that i really want.

I guess PS3's got me a bit more excited for now.

I bought the Sega Xbox bundle at Costco a year or so after launch and I don't regret it. I know that the bundle I got is different, in that Costco wasn't shoving anything I didn't want down my throat.

I got the system, an extra controller S and Jet Set Radio Future -- all for retail or a little below.

nope no bundles here

unless you count the Xbox coming with JSRF and Sega GT but I really dont count that in the bundle sense thats being talked about here

IMHO bundles are bullshit well least the ones for the 360 are, theyve gotten way out of hand

see I could understand and would buy a bundle that was like ok you get the system, a game of your choice, and a memory card (for systems that dont have HDD if they have a HDD then forget it)

then I would be ok with a bundle

but some of the shit for the X360 come on, forcing specific games, and a ton of accessories that I would never buy fuck that noise

I especially hate the forced specific games thing, I will decide what games are worth my purchase not fucking eb, gamestop, best buy or anyone else

The PSP Value pack is the closest I've gotten.. I've never purchased a store-forced bundle... and hopefully never will.
