Where Ya Curly Mustaches At?! Marvel vs Capcom 3 Hype Thread of Scoops!

I fear that a new Marvel vs game with a small line up could end up underperforming due to comparisons with MvsC2.

What would you rather have a game with 10-12 characters as balanced as they can get it or 40+ characters with little attempt to balance it?

If there truly is a Deadpool movie in the works, I don't know if I trust them to resist using the Ryan Reynolds Douchebag version if it's even remotely near the movie or dvd releases.

We can hope.

Deadpool movie is long ways off. And it's been said multiple times that the Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie is not the same Deadpool we'll be seeing in the Deadpool movie.

There's a lot of Deadpool in that comment.

Probably from the Tatsunoko team, seems about the right timing.

Looking forward to hearing more ... or anything, lol
eighting did a great job with TvC; my favorite vs. game by far (well, excluding cvs2)

are we sure Henaki's post isn't an early april fool's joke?

This is how I think the cast will be. I don't expect Capcom to have all the characters returning from MvC2. I am guessing they will re-use TvC engine, which means all the Capcom characters form TvC will most likely return. I expect Capcom to introduce recent fan favourite IPs, e.g Dante from DMC. I also think Capcom will use less Street Fighter characters, the only reason they used so many before was because they could re-use SF Alpha sprites. For Marvel characters, I expect them to use the most popular ones from MvC2, and ones that have been popular recently (e.g in films)

Ryu
Ken
Chun Li
Alex
Morrigan
Viewtiful Joe
Batsu - Rival Schools
Mega Man
Roll
Zero
Soki - Onimusha
PTX-40A - Lost Planet
Frank West - Dead rising
Super Joe - Bionic Commando
Phoenix Wright
Wesker - Residen Evil
Monster - Monster Hunter
Dante - Devil May Cry
Strider
Ryu - Breath of Fire
Captain Commando
Ghouls N Ghosts main character
Powerstone character
Okami
Saki Omokane - Quiz Nanairo Dreams

Spiderman
Venom
Dr Octopus
Wolverine
Cyclops
Gambit
Storm
Cable
sentinal
Magneto
Juggernaut
Mr Fantastic
Dr Doom
Ghost Rider
Blade
The Punisher
Incredible Hulk
Daredevil
Thor
Elektra
Doctor strange
Captain America
Silver Surfer
Iron Man
Deadpool

I'm pumped for this if it's true. I don't really have an opinion either way as to if it should be more like MvC1, MvC2 or TvC since I never got anywhere near competitive in any of them, but I love these games. Just the fact that it exists would be enough for me, really.

I honestly thought this would never happen, yet I really think about it often - even recently...

And I believe it, seeing as how Marvel themselves went all out with the MvC2 revival with the countdown, new art and promotion for the game - you don't do all that for nothing.

Can't wait for proper confirmation, as broken as it is, it's my favorite 2D fighter period, followed by Super Turbo then 3rd Strike...

I for one would like to take a time out to thank Mr Wizard of SRK! Thanks Mr. Wizard, for giving legitimacy to otherwise random rumors!

Remember back when people were posting photoshops of new characters? Man that was fun! But then someone got banned for posting a real photo amid the photoshops! If we hadn't known any better, we might have had to wait an entire week to find out Hakan had wierd hair! But thanks to Mr. Wizard, we get to know things far in advance of when we're supposed to!

Please keep up the good work Mr. Wizard!

Does this mean it's true or false?

I won't complain as long as Cyclops, B.B.Hood, Guile, Charlie, Psylocke, and Morrigan are in.

I'd say they would be, they're all pretty popular characters both in their respective series and in Vs. If it came down to the wire I'd imagine Charlie or Guile would have to go, but not both.

I know one of the sub-bosses already guys. One of the mechs from Cyberbots! I wish, heh.

But for real, I want Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Mr Sinister. Actually, I just want a Spider-Man universe game.

Miles Edgeworth- He would attack with his soul crushing confidence and foreshortened Objection attacks. Like M. Bison but with a law degree.

Kut-Ku or Plesioth from Monster Hunter. Button mashing cheap, weird Hitbox. No way to tell how much health he has left. You can do more damage if you hit him in the head.

Yeah and sprites from just about every fighting game they released during this period

We'll see. I'm definitely interested. Would like to see this and a Power Stone 3 (that's more like PS1 than PS2)

if it's not 2d, it won't be as fast as MVC2 (or any of the other marvel vs games).. and MVC2's big thing was it's speed which led to other obscene antics and the only cap on how good you could really be was set by your own limitations in terms of how fast and accurate your execution was.

granted, I don't want to demolish things with Magneto again (as fun as it is), and just like when MVC2 came out - we all said "wow, chun li and wolverine got fucked here" and moved on.. I'm not saying I need MVC2-X or something. I just want the game to be fast and fluid.

I would be disappointed if this ended up on the Tatsunoko engine.. but I wouldn't put it passed them, either.

speed is king. do some kind of HD 2d fighter, Capcom. Thanks.

Oh please be true. MvC2 is only the best Capcom fighter.

I hope they use the SF4 engine since it's the best looking fighting game this gen and make the game completely crazy and batshit insane, who cares about balance :D

I just don't want to see this game underperform and kill the series right after its revival. MvsC2 was broken, but it still was successful, after all.

Will not be disappointed as long as spider-man is in. venom and green goblin would be lovely bonuses.

would you guys prefer three fighters per team like in MvC2 or just 2 like in TvC? Personally, I'd like it to just be two, but I would like it if you could choose what their assist action is like in MvC2.

I just want less effing X-Men. MvC2 has waaaay too many of them, and it's missing classics like Mystique, Beast, Nightcrawler and Jean Grey.

I think that this will depend on how much say Marvel gets in the roster. When MvC 1&2 came out, the X-men were Marvel's biggest franchise. Today, the Avengers line sells much more and will be featured in a big movie in 2011. If Marvel get their way you'll almost certainly see many Avengers, particualrly Luke Cage and Spider-Woman, and probably Hawkeye (I know Clint Barton is currently Ronin, but I bet that by the time this game comes out he'll be back rocking the purple mask), all of whom Marvel is pushing really hard.

Even within the X-men, the popularity of characters has changed. I bet they'll have Emma Frost or X-23, as well as Deadpool.

Also, if Marvel has their way, I guarantee we'll see Red Hulk in the roster.

The Avengers movie is due in 2012 and Hawkeye is back already in May. ;p

It wouldn't be Marvel if it didn't have broke stuff in it.

I think it's more clear cut than that. There was an X-Men game, and a general Marvel Super Heroes. So there were characters from the X-Men than say the Avengers.

Would prefer a Capcom vs SNK 3, which I think would be easier to pull off intellectual property wise. More grooves and characters from the recent sequels would be awesome.

MvC2 is based on the 90s cartoon, which means there would be nothing new there or they'll end up pissing everyone off if they go with all new stuff that has happened in the comics.

In before Adult 616 Spider-man & Young Ultimate Spider-man?

I don't really know what to think about that, perhaps a little bit of both sides would be best?

Edit: Spider-Woman really needs to be here, she's the only marvel female character I actually enjoy reading about. :/

I'd rather see a "brand new" roster, switch a few old characters out with some newer ones. From both the Capcom and Marvel side. Iron Fist would fit FANTASTICALLY with a fighting game.

Also, if it's 2.5D, which it more than likely will, I hope it has alternate costumes.

This shit again? I thought we were done with this stupid assumption years ago.

The game can be as fast as the developers want. I mean, all it takes is less frames per second on animations, and that decision has NOTHING TO DO WITH 2D OR 3D. Seriously, its not that hard a concept.

Plus dont other companies have rights to certain characters, or is there something I'm missing?

Marvel was smart... they licensed characters for specific TYPES of games.

EA had the rights for a fighting game, but after the train wreck of Marvel Nemesis, they reverted back to Marvel.

So it's very possible the characters could be used by Capcom for fighting game use only

wow you're mad.

let me know when you're proven right, ok? it hasn't been done yet, and the first 3d "Vs game" attempt feels clunky as hell.

Gonna back up Raging Spaniard on this one. Really, its not a matter of whether or not it's 3D. Its how Capcom decides to make it. Do they want the animations to be fast or slow? And even if your assertion was somehow legitimate, we only have 2 points of comparison is the 2.5D area (TvC and SF4). Both of which can be 'fast'.

Aside from some of the other Marvel characters mentioned, I think it'd be cool to see The Hood in. His cloak along with the guns would make for some interesting gameplay.

A character that could mimic their opponent's fighting style/moves to use against them would be pretty cool, too. Fantomex, Mr. X, or Taskmaster would be nice in that case but all three of those are wishful thinking.

he's right, though. i'd say the burden of proof is on you, because what you're saying makes no logical sense, regardless of the fact that no one has happened to make a game as an example that you're wrong. as someone else said, the pool of 2.5D fighters is not a large one. game and animation speed has nothing to do with sprites or polygons.

by 3d you guys mean 3d graphics like SFIV not 3d fighter like tekken right?

cos i dont really see why you have to use sprites to make it fast, its just a design choice on their part

hope this is a big full release not a smaller DD game, something like TvsC for ps360 would be amazing, so long as they don't put that stupid okami ball in it.

impossible for me to prove developers are incapable of doing what they haven't done thus far.

truly, if it is possible to make a game just like marvel but 3d.. I'd be all in favor of it. the current games I've seen are what make me the disbeliever. perhaps I'm just a naysayer who is stuck in 2d glory days that just wants capcom to do an HD 2d fighting game.
