Capcom wise: Dante, Arthur, Bionic Commando. Marvel: Spiderwoman, Luke Cage, Quasar, Deadpool, Red Hulk, Sentry as the boss.
The king would turn all into true believers. The only thing i really want from this other than a large roster is less irrelevant characters. No silver samurai and marrow in place of potential fantastic 4 or avengers membersBleepey said:
I know, opinions and all, but I have never heard a more false statement. That being said, I would like to see Carnage in 3. His attacks would be crazy. I also hope the Eddie Brock Venom is in it, even as an alternate costume.Unicorn said:Carnage is one I'd like to see not just be a repaint. He's soooo much cooler than Venom.
I could see them using Amnesia Stupidhead from Lost Planet or Sheva.Grecco said:I wonder if Capcom will use some newer guys. The Rocket dude from Dark Void for instance...
Well it is pretty possible if they stick to 2D sprites, but for some reason I don't think that will happen. ): I really hate 2.5D and 3D for my fighters for some reason.Rush2thestart said:Hopefully this is on all three platforms. Hell, I'd even take a DS/PSP version.
I'm sorry, but no. Any member of the Fantastic Four or, say, Nightcrawler would be a lot more "fan servicey" than having Silver Samurai or Marrow.Sir Ilpalazzo said:"Irrelevant" characters are what keep the rosters of fanservice games like these interesting. For real. A balance of obscure & popular characters are what makes a roster interesting. If it was only all well known characters, that would be incredibly boring.Sir Ilpalazzo said:"Irrelevant" characters are what keep the rosters of fanservice games like these interesting. But why? I don't understand why people favour 2D sprites over 3D models? Is it the aesthetic? Is it nostalgia? Is it the fear of graphical issues?SonicMegaDrive said:I'm interested in this game if it goes the 2D sprite route.
lyre said:Abel from SF4 plz, so he'll be found in at least one good game.
Also, this needs Marvel Zombies.
The series cannot have enough variations of Wolverine.

Plus, how can characters get more of a following if they never get any exposure?

2D sprites would take a massive amount of time IMO, and result in a vastly smaller selection of characters, that's why I favour 2.5D.

not if they reuse old sprites. I would be fine with that.Pai Pai Master said:If you guys want 2D have fun with your 10-character roster.
We'll probably only get about 15 anyways.
-DarKaoZ- said:And you don't think making all those characters from scratch to 3D models will not take long to do? :lol
In my case I don't care if they reuse all those sprites again, the game still looks good, they just need to add to the actual MvsC2 roster and people will be happy. If they go with new 2D sprites or 3D models we are talking of what? 20 to 30 characters MAX and I'm exaggerating a bit there.

Come on, the HD sprites in BB where beautiful with the semi 3D-backgrounds and right styling it would hold up for far longer than the ugly-ass SFIV.ezekial45 said:Put me in the 3D crowd. The sprites have run WAY beyond it's course and it's gonna be laughable if they rear they're ugly heads again. I like the sprites just as much as you guys, but they're too old now. We, and Capcom, have to let me go.
They are fantastic looking, but they've become a niche unfortunately.InfiniteNine said:Come on, the HD sprites in BB where beautiful with the semi 3D-backgrounds and right styling it would hold up for far longer than the ugly-ass SFIV.
For one, those sprites were brand new. The sprites in MvC2 are more than 10 years old and they're not getting any prettier.InfiniteNine said:Come on, the HD sprites in BB where beautiful with the semi 3D-backgrounds and right styling it would hold up for far longer than the ugly-ass SFIV.
Yes it won't. Making the models will not take long when you factor in how much easier animations are to make.-DarKaoZ- said:And you don't think making all those characters from scratch to 3D models will not take long to do? :lol

Regulus Tera said:I'd expect mid-twenties. TatsuCap had 26, while vanilla SFIV had 25.
BB looks great in stills. Shame about the animation though.InfiniteNine said:Come on, the HD sprites in BB where beautiful with the semi 3D-backgrounds and right styling it would hold up for far longer than the ugly-ass SFIV.

The Take Out Bandit said:It's because SF3 still looks amazing, SF4 not so much.
This video just puts a fine point on it.
Capcoms subcontracted polygonal fighters may be competent fighters; but they'll never be pretty fighters.
That's not to say that some day 3D technology will advance to the point where developers may be more visually expressive and amazing, coming close to adequately mimicking 2D sprite work. If anything SF4 is a fun beta test headed in that direction; but it's got a long way to go before it's gorgeous like SF3.
Hopefully they'll hammer it out by SF6, if they don't just wise up and go back to sprites.
Capcom mistakenly assumed interest was lost in fighters in the West because of sprites. No. Interest was lost because there was no way to play against a wide variety of people with arcades dying, no online play, and titles with limited play choice releasing at $50 against other titles that catered more to Western tastes and gaming styles.
It's like choosing painting painting over sculpture. I don't prefer one over the other, but I wouldn't want either to go away.

probably a few weirdos, but most people just realize how unrealistic that is.
the amount of artists they would need that are good at doing the work required probably doesn't exist, and even if they did, the amount of money it would cost to pay them all would greatly outweigh the sales potential of the game.
those same few people will probably say "well don't make the game then!" but i think i'd suffer thru a 3D MVC3 over none at all.
