I hope it uses the TVC engine and the TVC characters artstyle over SF4's ugly ones
Also want TVC-like soundtrack over that jazzy shit.

Actually, that's insulting to good PS2 games.
Not really, It shares a lot of similarities with MvC1 (probably the closest comparison, people call it a cross between MvC1 and Guilty Gear). Also borrows some mechanics from MvC2.hitsugi said:You can claim TVC is balanced all you'd like, but that is a completely different game from MVC series... so, that's pointless.
That wasn't the sentiment when it was announced for arcade. Wonder what happened from then and now.jett said:TvC does not look "great".

TvC looks great.
Zophar said:Art demands aside, it takes up significant amounts of VRAM to keep in memory HD sprites and all of their frames. It's one reason why BlazBlue has such choppy animation compared to, say, SFIII or any 2.5D game. Couple that with the expectation to have up to 6 characters on the screen at any time and you're basically asking for the impossible.
On the subject or actually drawing the sprites, even the games you're touting by ASW and SNK have rosters that are uncharacteristically small for what is expected of fighting games these days. Here, we're talking about Marvel VS Capcom 3, the sequel to the game with the single largest roster ever seen in a legitimate fighting game. The art workload would be astronomical and I doubt Capcom is ponying up the cash to justify it.
The Take Out Bandit said:Every *new* fighting game is going to be lacking in the character count because they're all series / franchise reboots. Capcom, SNK, ASW can't coast on sprite recycling to inflate rosters.
If the popular party line is to be believed, SF4 is currently the high watermark for fighting games (despite its shit netcode), and that gives us a 19 character standard.
BB: 12 characters
SF4: 19 characters, ignoring arcade release here which was even more limited.
KoF12: 22 characters
"New" old fighting games are going to be at a loss because everything needs to be re-drawn or 3D models made.
So having said that, perhaps Bad Taste in Fighting Games GAF should wait until Capcom craps out several more fighters and licensed games to have the library of character models for recycling in MvC3.
I still want DC vs. Marvel. I could care less about Marvel characters beating up on characters that are nowhere near their power levels.
I'd take Tatsunoko Vs. Toho even!![]()
I'm intrigued by the though of Youmu beating up a Samurai Pizza Cat.The Take Out Bandit said:I'd take Tatsunoko Vs. Toho even!![]()

Foxy Fox 39 said:Whether the game is using the same engine has no bearing on the fact that this thread is about MVC3 not TvC2. And anyway the TvC engine ≠ TvC (I'm sure Capcom - if they are in fact using the same engine - would tweak it to be more representative of MvC)
The fact that people are saying they want this game to be like TvC confounds and irritates me. TvC came out somewhat recently - play that people or wait for its proper sequel.
I wish people would stop crashing this thread with talks about mutating our (i.e. fans of MvC) long awaited sequel.
I own TvC just to let you know.

Shame only FIVE of them were *new*. >
Ono says a lot of things though.Briarios said:Ono in an interview last year implied that any MvC3 game would have around 50 or so characters. Just sayin' ...
Gen, Rose, Sakura, Fei Long, Cammy, and Dan aren't new.V_Arnold said:Well, you still cant count properly
Gen, Rose, Sakura, Fei Long, Cammy, Gouken, Seth, Dan -> 8 difference. Not 5, not 7. Even with Seth counting out, it is 7 plus. But whatever.
50 characters is still pretty good considering there are so many useless characters in the game that should be replaced by more prominent/famous/better characters from BOTH universes.Briarios said:Ono in an interview last year implied that any MvC3 game would have around 50 or so characters. Why are you calling out Felicia...Sure Donovan, Demitri and Talbain would be better, but she is better than Anakaris.Dahbomb said:50 characters is still pretty good considering there are so many useless characters in the game that should be replaced by more prominent/famous/better characters from BOTH universes.
I mean seriously WTF @ Shuma Gorath, a 2nd Wolverine, Felicia, Servebot, Marrow, Amingo etc.

He's talking about Abel, Seth, Fuerte, Viper, Rufus, and Gouken, all of which debuted in IV.
But yeah, he still can't count.

I'm almost convinced. Just stretch that random, bad looking close-up of Morrigan a bit more.jett said:http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2008/351/953921_20081217_screen029.jpg
It's kind of like how the newer Iga Castlevanias still use sprites from a 1993 PC Engine game.Green Scar said:Shush, not my fault I didn't know.

Anakarsis sucks too and you are right those 3 would've been WAY better especially Jon Talbain.ShinAmano said:Why are you calling out Felicia...Sure Donovan, Demitri and Talbain would be better, but she is better than Anakaris.
