So far Star Ocean is my favorite for completly owning me

As far as I've played Star Ocean (10-15 hours) the story seems... scattered. Will it improve?

Hahah, Final Fantasy XI is an epic game by all means, Rorachashes. Deep customization, modifications, skill-ups, economy, etc. The world is huge. Before I quit, I had a RNG45/NIN22 (heh, with emperor's hairpin, winged boots, and the best of everything else...dual Hawker's Knives, too ).
