I like Love Hina and I like most of Leiji Matsumoto's work, but I don't really watch anime. I loved Interstella 5555; still watch it at least once a week.

Wow, someone thats actually seen Argentosoma. How is it? I've read reviews, but they all seem iffy, and no one, and I mean no one, has watched it. And I completely forgot that I was going to buy X the Series.

I liked it a lot, it is a mix of Macross Plus and EVA. Story involves lots of back stabbing and plot twist but has a good payoff in the end (not one of them mind fuck endings like in EVA or Rahxephon).

I was not going into the show with much expectations (got the series as a gift) but I ended up really enjoying it. If you like the elite fighting force vs. big alien style anime you will get a kick out of Argentosoma.

4. Nadesico

Anybody else seen Nadesico?

I just checked it out on ANN's encyclopedia and the entire series is available in a DVD boxset. It's very tempting. I don't know about the whole "making fun of anime" thing. Somehow I'm scared it'll "spoil' the serious stuff.. :p

oh And Deep Discount DVD has it for 53 dollars while EVERYBODY else has it for 71-80 dollars.. do these people steal their anime DVDs before selling them? :)

Nadesico was alright, nothing amazing, and not bad either. But I think it loses some of its attraction once a few of the "mysteries" are revealed. The characters and jokes are cliché at times too, and the ending felt kind of silly and forced.

There are lots of faults in Nadesico, like it gets kinda stupid at times. But i still like it, it has some charm :D
The serise itself isn't too serious which i like, though the movie is more serious and has less comedy than the actual series. Now if only i could read japanese then i'd read the novels. I want to read the novels for the sekai no series as well... Give me a sekai no senki III damnit

Yeah, I laughed quite a lot during the first half of Nadesico. Second half and movie was above average. It's in my 2nd tier list along with Satoshi Kon movies, Slayers, UY, One Piece, etc.

I really liked Nadesico for the most part. Although, IMO the movie was much better than the series.

Favorite anime moves:

Nadesico Prince of Darkness
Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Series:
Slayers(all 3 seasons)
Trigun
Wild Arms

Another question :p

How's Azumanga Daioh? It's listed as shouji in the ANN encyclopedia.. and it's about highschool girls.. in highschool. And yet everybody is crazy about it. -__-

That's because it has an odd, clever and thoughtful tone to it, in a very funny way. And it takes a huge step away from all those generic, ecchi crappy series with big-breasted high-school girls. And it rocks.

Blackace

if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
Azumanga Daioh

Robotech....

Kiki's, Scent of Chihiro, Mononoke hime...

Argentosoma was just too irritating for my tastes. They have this awesome revenge story to tell, and instead it gets bogged down with Frankenstein analogies and a terrible ending. I'll spare you other comments and just direct you to my review instead.

Cowboy Bebop <---Fuck the elitist.
Scrapped Princess
Trigun
Macross Plus
Porco Rosso <---Can't wait for the english voiced DVD release later this year.
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
The Ultimate Teacher <---Anyone else see this? Funny as hell.
