The games on Xbone are just better at launch. Bigger lineup and more diverse. If there's anything I don't like about Xbone its that they won't be able to launch in my territory till 2014.

The 360 also had a very promising launch that had me very tempted with great games like Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero seemed like a very promising title at the time. Not to mention Project Gotham Racing 4 and Condemned. That was a very promising start and shortly after great jRPGs started being announced like Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean the Last Hope and Blue Dragon.
But after the first few years of the console the number of these exclusives greatly reduced and some of their previously exclusive games started making their way to the Playstation 3. After the Kinect Microsoft significantly reduced development of any exclusive titles that didn't have Forza, Fable, Halo or Gears of War in them and focused their efforts on bringing more software to the Kinect at the expense of most other types of games.
I hope their Xbox One launch titles are a good indication of the future, but this might also just be a repetition of the past.
I hate that thinking. MS tried to f over every single gamer, and their path to success is to hope that the mainstream never finds out?

Meh, Xbox one will do fine, but I do expect Sony to outsell them in the long run just like this gen. America is one market, Sony leads in other Markets that matter as well. I hope Sony wins this gen as I cannot stand MS and havent been able to since Vista. They lost me to Apple the year Vista dropped. They lost me on 360 when the Ps3 dropped. It was tough the first years of the Ps3 but I preferred the controller much more then the 360. Sadly I still have to support them for PC gaming, which I hate doing, but alas I have to shut up and take it.

Source? I have to disagree, although brand loyalty is probably a factor, I'd think to the mainstream game-buyer, price is a big factor. I think a low price is one of the things that made Wii the success it was.
Obviously there are many, many factors, but I'd think claiming that emotion is more important than price is a baseless claim.

Xbox 360 launched with some good exclusives. Then as the gen went on they closed the studios down.

I LOVE when these companies compete against each other for our money the thing i don't like is people who are loyal to brands, I was all into nintendo/sega/dreamcast and back then it was just cool to have all the system and the badass games that your buddies can come over and play..things have gotten really weird since then but im happy X1 is getting some love now..can't wait till the focus is back on the games completely again once the console stuff settles.

They are appearing much more competent recently. The reasons I'm still supporting the PS4 are:
Mandatory Kinect doesn't bother me.
- Better APU - It's not just about multiplats. Choosing powerful hardware is a signal to me that Sony is still interested in me as a "core" gamer. I reward that with my purchase. The Xbox seems designed solely to age well in terms of BoM cost.
- Price - Pretty cut and dry. None of the current exclusives are worth $100 more to me.
- Policies - While they've reneged on a lot of their more odious propositions, I still feel a need to stay committed to the PS4 because their changes seem flippant and strictly appeasing in nature. The fact they proposed those ideas in the first place shows that their priority was the business model, not making the customer happy with the idea that that will translate into sales if done right. Just like a relationship. You may do something horrible to me, and I may even forgive you for it, but it's going to take me a lot longer to let it go and trust you won't do it again.
Mandatory Kinect doesn't bother me.

The price comparison is relative to this specific situation. I don't think poster meant it applies to every gen. $100 more when you are the successor to the highest selling console ever at the time and come out almost two years before the competition. Fine. That's not even close to the situation today.

Funnily enough, I don't own either of those games.
My 360 library is as diverse as any in my rather big collection of consoles. I'm still amazed that this myth of 360 games gets perpetuated. In the end, the end consumer doesn't care whether a 3rd or 1st party makes the game, they just want the games they want. Hence why the 360 has such a ridiculous attach rate. People buy the games they want to buy.
There's plenty of variety on the 360, especially when you take Arcade into account.
I expect the One will be the same. I have a friend now already complaining that he'll have to buy a One because there's so many games coming out just in the first year and he WON'T be buying CoD.

Sony has a bigger launch lineup and more diverse range of games than Xbox one where as Microsoft has a couple more retail exclusives. Games are games no matter how big or small they are. Microsoft still has some work to do considering their console is not as strong as Sony's and is more expensive. I wonder how Microsoft will handle japan this time around?

XBO a) isn't cheaper, it's more expensive, b) comes later than PS4 in general, c) will be worse in multiplatform due to slower / more complex hardware.

Yes, it's happening here too. Sony has been doing too many rights vs MSFT's wrong. I believe it's been this way for the last few years at least. MSFT hasn't been the best since around 07-08 or whenever Kinect became their focus.

They didn't try and "fuck gamers over" it wasn't a scam or well coordinated grift. In their arrogance they tried to sell gamers a product gamers didn't want and failed miserably. That's really all it comes down to. All this talk of MS "forcing gamers", "scamming gamers", or "fucking gamers" like there was no freedom of choice involved is all hyperbolic bull shit. There was plenty of choice involved here and a 2:1 PS4 to X1 preorder ratio bares that out.

Eurogamers comments read a lot like GAFs as well. Its just too bad because in PS4 threads there is more substantive topical discussions about the OP, which are fun to read, and involve more mature discussion. Why do MS fans need to whisper? Is it MSs fault the internet is full of Sony trolls? I would stick to polygon more if info and rumors were aggregated as as well as GAF on a text only interface.

I recall reading a similar comment from (specifically) Bgamer90 while I was at work but couldn't really comment at the time. Something to the effect of "so now indies are important because these games are coming to PS4". If I could find the post I would be he knows what he typed.
Indies have always mattered and it's more apparent now than ever before. When Shadow Complex hit even my one friend who hardly turns on his 360 bought it and loved it. Indies matter and create things like Octodad, Below, Rime, Return to Rapture, and countless other games which are coming to PS4.
This mocking or half assed dismissal of great indies on PS4 is not even worth your energy. These people will be put in their place if need be.
I recall commenting in another thread about Brother - A Tale of Two Sons and Minecraft. Both of those games are only on XBLA right now. Both are amazing games within their own restraints.
If you want to get into a serious debate about games then you better be ready to discredit the avalanche of amazing indie games coming to PS4. We can cross that bridge.
Even me with my SLI 670 3930k rig is anticipating more indies on PC/Vita/PS3/PS4/Xbone more than actual retail games. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

While true (I know you didn't reply to me) - there is no escaping Microsoft's vision of the future. They want to shape it instead of letting the consumer lead the way. This is typical of them and we should maintain a watchful eye.
We need "a" box to compete with Sony - it doesn't have to be an MS box, though. They've hatched so many half-assed ideas and pulled the plug when consumers didn't bend to their will that I could care less about them anymore. I would rather a forward, consumer focused company push up against Sony than MS. If Valve released a box to compete directly in the console realm it would be amazing to watch. The current "whoops, OK, fine - we'll take it back after we said it wasn't possible" isn't consumer focused - its correcting mistakes in post. Not designing with the consumer in mind. Big difference.
Reactionary isn't the way to blaze trails in the console space. Being proactive and forward thinking is.

I admit that I got caught up in some discussion in my last post but my first comment was to the point. As you can see others have decided to take it in another direction but some of those comments need to be called out.
You're absolutely right though. This is a more positive oriented article despite my own trepidation's over the last several months of MSFT's banter and reversals.
