Who Are Your Top Favorite Developers of All Time?

Self explanatory title, I hope! As usual, how many developers you choose, and whether or not you want to rank them numerically, is up to you.

I'll stick with a top ten ranking, 'cause it's a psychologically satisfying number and I like lists.

10. Crytek
9. Nintendo
8. Team Silent
7. Team Ico
6. Rockstar Games
5. Naughty Dog
4. Valve
3. Looking Glass Studios
2. Rare
1. Irrational Games/Ghost Story Games

Remedy and CD Projekt are the two best boys. Visceral's a best boy too, but he was murdered by EA.

1. Bungie/343
2. Bethesda Game Studios
3. Irrational Games
4. Remedy
5. Bioware (before they turned to shit)
6. UbiSoft Montreal
7. Arkane
8. Eidos Montreal
9. CDPR
10.Moon Studios

1- Nintendo
(quite a large margin to the second place)
2- Capcom
3- Rare
4- Konami
5- From
6- Platinum
7- Atlus
8- Falcom
9- Squaresoft
10- id software

3. Nintendo
Even though I feel weird putting them cause I have no idea which studios are which.
2. Sony Japan
So many great, and varied games come out of there.
1. Squaresoft
The greatest RPG maker of all-time.

Honorable mentions - Capcom, CDPR, Insomniac, Bungie, and Bioware

Dishonorable mention - Naughty Dog

Used to be one of my favorite developers. They are now completely tarnished. Christophe Balestra left at the right time.

7. Platinum Games
8. Square Enix
9. Nintendo
10. Intelligent Systems
11. Saga
12. Capcom
13. Sucker Punch
14. Naughty Dog

Good question. See I'm not going include studios like CD Project Red/Bend/Access Games as although the have the ability to become that, one amazing game recently dosnt justify a spot on this list (two does though guys so keep going).

Number 1 by a wide margin; Naughty Dog.

Bluepoint.
Tango Gameworks.
Irrational Games (RIP)
Neather Realm Studios (despite WB)

From Software
Naughty Dog
iD
Rockstar
Retro
Bungie
Bethesda
Valve
Capcom
Nintendo
Obsidian

Not really in order, some devs that may be added to the list later based on future games...

SANDLOT
CDPR
Arkane
Bend

Probably forgetting stuff

Currently? Definitely not ND or R* anymore. Seems like they're losing what made them special and going down THAT path.
I'd say Nintendo and Valve still

Only 2 mentions of SEGA - probably the second most influential stable of developers after Nintendo - so far. Kind of disheartening.

1. SEGA (including AM2, Sonic Team, Smilebit, Creative Assembly, etc);
2. Capcom (Mega Man, RE, SF, etc);
3. Nintendo;
4. Square-Enix;
5. Namco (particularly Project Aces);
6. Atlus (now part of SEGA);
7. Rockstar North/San Diego;
8. Platinum Games;
9. Ubisoft Quebec (Far Cry!)
10. Japan Studio (Sony)

Since I was/am an arcade junkie and then a bit of PC/console gamer...
  1. Capcom
  2. SEGA
  3. Konami
  4. Namco
  5. SNK
  6. Midway
  7. RockStar
  8. RockSteady
  9. Crytek
  10. id Software

1. Id Software
2. Westwood Studios
3. Bungie (Halo Era)
4. Rare (Classic)
5. Retro Studios
6. Lucas Arts
7. Nintendo
8.From Software
9. Sega
10. Konami
11. Capcom

Monolith
Atlus
Squaresoft
Naughty Dog
Insomniac
Silicon Knights
Retro Studios
Sucker Punch
CDPR
ICO
Zipper Interactive
Sony Santa Monica

I'm sure I'm missing quite a bit.

1- Naughty Dog: if you told me a game is made by Naughty Dog, i would buy it without thinking anything else. Their name is a seal quality.
2- Fumito Ueda/ GenDesign: Even if his last game wasn't perfect, Ueda's games are unique and avant-garde.
3- thatgamecompany: Their games convey beautiful emotions without needing violence.
4- Sony Santa Monica
5- Nintendo EPD
6- Rockstar Games
7- Insomniac Games
8- Netherrealm Studios
9- CD Projekt Red
10- Square Enix

Only the first 3 are in order the others aren't. While all of these companies are still alive kicking and doing well, I really do miss them in their earlier days. Maybe it was because I was younger, but it feels like they use to put a lot of heart and charm into their games, now it feels so sterile and clinical
1.Capcom
2.SNK
3.SquarEnix
4.FromSoftware
5.Namco
6.Konami(older)
7. Turn 10
8.Polyphony Digital
9.Nintendo
10.Bethesda

I'll just mention 3 but I'll give reasons.

1. From Software: Ever since Demon Souls they've been releasing my favorite games from both this and last gen.
Great gameplay, level design and art direction, great approach to DLC and in a gen where it feels like a lot of big devs really slowed down their output and just focused on sequels, FROM had 3 major releases, 2 of which were new IPs with a 4th release on the way that's also a new IP.

2. Squaresoft.
The golden age of JRPG. For a while they got everything right, fun gameplay, awesome presentation in unique worlds with enjoyable stories and memorable characters. I don't generally fall for nostalgia and in many ways I think modern games are better than ever.... but damn they don't make JRPG's like this anymore

3.Platinum.
I like over the top japanese actions games, and Platinum is like "over the top japanese action games: the studio".
They've had some disappointments in recent years but overall I still think they are great and I'm always looking forward to their next project. Also the whole "all their games are Bayonetta with a different skin" shit some people always bring up is bullshit.

1. Naughty Dog. From Crash days on PS1, to Jak series on PS2, Uncharted and Last of Us beyond. I'll buy anything they put out, period.
2. Rockstar North. Every game they release is an event. Best open world game designers of all time.
2. Santa Monica Studios. Will also buy anything they put out, seal of quality. God of War is the perfect mixture of story + action gameplay. Both equally important.

1. Nintendo
2. Bungie (during their Microsoft days)
3. Konami
4. Squaresoft
5. Rare
6. Capcom
7. Namco
8. Sega
9. Zipper Interactive

Interplay. Specifically when Tim Cain was there. Fallout was amazing.

Bethesda. Because Todd Howard and his sweet little lies. Seriously though. Skyrim.

Bungie. They made Halo and it was amazing once upon a time. It's a shame what's happened to them since then.

(Old) BioWare. Because everything they touched turned to gold. Now it turns to shit. I miss Greg and Ray. Those guys were great.

Giants. They make Farming Simulator and it's awesome.
