Who got a 5090-5080? post in this thread

I wouldnt use a PC like this, temps would be great but the dust buildup would be crazy
I have a gross frankenstien test bench pc that is basically all of the guts splayed all over my work bench and I just swap in parts for testing.

I 100% agree with you here...I have no idea who could use one of these and keep the dust build up to a manageable level.

yeah plenty of cards in canada. 5090 not so much but there are at least 1 or 2 cards in each town almost.

the rest are everywhere.

thank god this horror is over. i am sick of scum people listing 4080s for 1500$ Canadian used. or 4090 for 3k.

what a bunch of sad losers..

glad I have an 5090 FE. working like a charm.

You got FE?? dayum

You don't live in Quebec then?

Nope. Ottawa.

but I only got the FE because someone wanted an Astral i had and was willing to pay the msrp difference.

it was my first choice card due to its price and size ( sometimes i like to switch to mini itx builds ). so i was super lucky in that regard.

There's a shit ton of them today when looking at canada computers. All in store not online which imo is better and more anti-scalper.

Seems the craze is mostly over or winding down a lot it seems.
Yep, been seeing stock in Microcenter (in-person) often through the week since I check their once in a while to see. And now Amazon seems to be offering cards to Prime members as well.

They aren't even close to MSRP of course, talking $1400+ and $950+ for 5070Ti, but at least stock situation is getting better.

Interestingly enough, 9070XT seems in shorter supply. And of course 5090 is nowhere to be seen.

Edit: I managed to get both 5080 and 9070XT a while back. 5080 was almost at MSRP and 9070XT at MSRP. So I got lucky basically.

So you had a TUF and Astral and now FE. You are crazier then me lol

I never said I am a normal person lol.

I like to upgrade and switch parts for better if I find a good deal lol.

I was happy with the Astral to be honest, but an FE is my go card ever since the 3090 then 4090, and now 5090.

I mean how can I refuse almost 1300$ difference in cash back and an FE card in exchange for the Astral lol.

I checked my options today since there was a lot of stock at canada computers and decided to make the jump before this tariffs insanity makes these GPU prices look like a bargain...

Picked a 1,199$ CAD 5070 Ti Gigabyte windforce OC which fits in my case like a glove for SFF, so one good thing I'll keep my beloved meshilicious case. For 3440x1440p resolution, I felt 5080 was too much probably and on a 5800X3D. In canada 5080 are 45% more expensive for... +15% difference? I picked a better bang for the buck for my build.

I went from 3080 Ti to this, mind blowing so far.

I started Cyberpunk 2077 overdrive of course...

Congrats. 5070ti was something I also was interested in as it has 16 gigs and multi frame gen . But I game at 4k 240 . Not even the 5090 is enough sometimes.

Still I would have picked up a 5070ti at that time if I found one cheap. All my options were tuf 5070ti back then and it was same price as 5080 msrp . I felt like an idiot if I bought a 5070ti for 5080 price.

Then looked at 5080 and it was more expensive than 4090 used market before it boomed. That pissed me off too because I had a 4090 and sold it in a build so it would have looked like I sold the 4090 for a 5080 and paid more for less. Didn't click with me so ended up with a 5090 heh

its a great card and the price sounds fair based on Canadian $.

One thing though, tariffs shouldn't apply to you guys up North. Either way though, have fun with the card.

The only reason I got a 5080 was because all the 5070Ti I could find were $950+ and I lucked out to get a 5080 almost for MSRP from Microcenter.

Guy at canada computers told me they received mountains of 5070 Ti and 5080. Almost nothing for 5090. But supply got a huge boost for their store and they have a ton of them in the back, not just the units on the shelves.

Yea, close enough to MSRP and the card is amazing so far. Undervolt 900mV, 2800 MHz, +1500MHz on core clock, in the 57°C range in an SFF case. Don't see the point of buying +$300 for slightly thicker coolers when the SFF baseline performs like that. And its silent! More so than my 3080 Ti. No coil whine, thank the gods

Also checked and I've got all the ROPS 🙏

Wouldn't be so sure about that. I feel greedy companies will just take whatever the price hike in USA from tariffs and put the exchange rate.

FML. I ordered my 5070 Ti on 16th April and the return window is 14 days. Of course they announce the Doom GPU bundle today. At least I got it at MSRP price.

It's the premium edition so a ~100€ value. Pretty good deal now that the 5070 Tis are available at MSRP or below in Europe. Brings prices to below 800€ for a Zotac/Inno3D model if you're interested in the game.

you can call them and they will give you a key.

I am seeing these 5090s on ebay for $3300 to $4600 are you people really spending that kind of dosh for a few benchmarks?

As I doubt there is a game in existence that requires that.
What's the point?

Also lets look at the history of top line gpus (here is a sampling of mostly nvidia cards )

What happened when top the line in 1999/2000 was a voodoo5 5500 for $299,
Geforce 3 ti 500 was $349 in 2001
the Radeon 9800pro in 2004 was $399/499 respectively.
GeForce 8800gtx was 6 years later was $599 (with the ultra released later for $829 and critized by everyone).
The 9800gtx was only $329 and the 9800gx2 cost $599 and that was 2 cards together on one similar to the voodoo5.
The Geforce Titan was the first gpu to hit the 1k mark at a release price of $999. Yet this card was not a gaming card officially.
The 1080gtx was also $599 10 years later. And is probably the best cost/performance card since the 8800gtx. The Ti Version was $699.

The 2080 upped the price to $699 and the TI was 999 and everyone lost it but it didn't stop nVid$a as they were greedy fs who sold to scalpers and miners in mass and left gamers to fend for scraps.
This upped the prices considerably during covid.

The 3090ti at launch was $1999 but like the new 5090 and 5080s these prices aren't the real prices.
They are much higher as nvidia trickles them out to the scalpers. Have fun.

I am out of the market as I play at 1080p so a xx60 (3060ti w/ 5700x maxes everything except maybe oblivion remastered, and even that I can get a good 60fps by turning down raytracing to balanced) card is good enough for me, and i prefer a quieter and less power costing desktop anyway. I just can't see paying over 1k let alone the 3-4k people pay for 5090 cards.

Do you guys really pay this? You all realize paying these prices keeps these cards up there in price right?
Honestly if you already have a high end 3xxx card or 4xxx card, why upgrade now?

I know these prices aren't ever going down without a crash or intel ripping nvidia/amd a new one. (Come on intel, do it!) but damn its way to expensive.

Finally got mine yesterday. The store close to where I live finally had few that were not high end. The stock got updated during the store was closed and in the morning there was a line outside.

Had a pre-built 5080 system in my shopping cart and was about to check out, but then reality struck, and I realized that I have a bathroom that needs to be renovated and can be done for the same price. Ugh, sucks being responsible.
The fact that remoldelling a bathroom can cost the same as graphics card in 2025 is insane. Think about that for a second.

Also I would never do spend that much. So much other things are more important. Especially when you are a home owner and married. Yes i know some of you here are 6 figures , good for you. Some of us here are trying to survive on 80k combined family income with a mortgage and saving for emergencies, cars, and a new roof which will be over 20k at least : (

I got a pny 5070 for $550 from bestbuy. I'm not too familiar with brands and their reputation as far as components go, but I'm really excited to put my PC together once I get all the parts. Gonna play kbm games and games that looked really shitty on console at high settings and 4k60! Like Doom (2016)

i prefer a quieter
The high power cards can actually give you a quiet PC, since they might not have to run at full blast at all times. And my 4090 Suprim X is very likely the quietest graphics card I've owned, has a silent bios which deliver incredibly well.
965nacp.jpeg

Did a quick check and it turns out the 5090 Suprim SOC is even quieter, 28.4dB. I believe 30dB is what's considered as "whisper quiet".
Combine it with a good case, some nice Noctua case fans barely going over 20dB, an Arctic Liquid Freezer aio water cooler. And tune down the fan curves. You'll barely hear it.

its way to expensive
Agreed. But that has been the case for as long as I've been playing on dedicated gaming PCs, so I can't relate to it ever being reasonable in cost. From my point of view $1000 or $3500 is just two variations of too expensive. But I think the lower end cards are too expensive as well, and they always come with some downside, either they're loud or have too little VRAM or push me into playing the settings menu game too much.

For reference I also think a PS5 Pro is too expensive. And Switch 2. And a good TV. And a good screen. And controllers. And games.

But what can you do? Complain on the internet? Vote with your wallet? I don't think it works tbh, been doing that for things in the past but it has only lead to me missing out on things and having a bad mood.

There's no point in paying more other than extended warranty, any RTX 5090 will perform the same due to AIB limits. Get the cards that fit into your case, are available and have the best cooling solutions

One month ago, I switched from my non-Ti 1080 to a 5080 that I got close to MSRP — and it honestly feels like I've opened my eyes to something completely new.

Do you guys think stock will be easier to get later this fall?

...it's never going to get better is it? Sigh

Stock is fine in Europe for the non FE.

Prices are around the 3000-3600 Euro, down from the 5000 a month ago.
Down from 5000 Euro?
And I thought Sweden was among the worst places for graphics cards. Never seen anything above 37000SEK (3400€), but also never seen any prices going down. The pricing on PC parts in general is absurd, has been for a long time now.
