Who got a 5090-5080? post in this thread

Thanks! Ordered from a huge electronics retailer in scandinavia called "Elgiganten".
Got the MSI Gaming Trio version.
Congrats. But I have never seen a backorder getting canceled unless you buying more than one ( happened to me with my Best Buy 5090 ). I ordered 2 and the second one got canceled earlier this week.
If you are not in the first patch of orders, you are in second or so. But they don't cancel orders out of the blue because they are not getting enough stock unless the whole SKU got canceled which is not the case with 5090 cards

Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but quite a few folks here in scandinavia have experienced cancellation of their 5090 cards the past weeks (folks who managed to get a order in at release).
And the reason was because they didn't get enough cards and would probably never get more stock. Sounds crazy for sure.
They will probably get more stock, but maybe it's a few months until they get more, and they probably don't know how many etc.
I feel really bad for those affected. It's not like they can just go buy somewhere else atm.

There's definitely something not right, and I'm sure we'll find whatever the issue is (probably cables is my guess). He's very well respected himself though, and isn't primarily a Youtuber - he's the CeO of Thermal Grizzly and runs HWBot. He's also been well known in overclocking for over 15 years so does know what he's doing to be fair.
I agree. Debauer is not incapable of making a mistake, but either way but if he finds an issue I'd be concerned. My 4090 has held up fine with the original 12VHPWR cable but I'd definitely worry that a 5090 would push it over the edge.

Do you guys power limit your 5090's? I've never done that on any previous cards, but thinking it would maybe be a good idea to set power limit to 90% in afterburner for this beast..

Debauer made a video showing how adjusting the power limit on a 5090 gives very little performance "penalty" while saving quite a bit power draw.

5090 FE has been going in and out of stock at Best Buy like crazy this morning. Haven't managed to grab one for myself yet though.

I'm playing around with the curve editor as show in post #372. They seem better than just limiting power% like der8auer was doing.

5080, and very happy. It's such an upgrade over my launch 3080 10GB. As I run 2k monitors it's the perfect size, yes it means I should have really picked up a 4080 Super. But their around the same price that these RRP for anyway now, so worked out in the end.

Boy you dumb paying that much for a Astral.

Just came in to dump this as above and leave, fucking fantastic lol.

Was the same when I got my PS5 Pro, not an issue for me when I'm using it, maybe il regret it when the founders edition is going for less and can overclock another 10-15% out of it, but i doubt that, people said the same thing about the 4080 Supers.

Want to take a dig at my £700 motherboard next?

WTF, there are so many sold eBay listings for 4090s at $2,500+

I haven't even tried to get a 5090 but I may start if people are really selling these for that much.

The one launch I decided not to pay much attention to turned out to be the most profitable.

Tell me you didn't watch a single review a look at performance numbers for the 5080 without actually telling me you didn't.

The 5080 isn't remotely close to the 4090 in terms of performance.

I mean it's not every game but they seem to be going pretty much the same in many of the games I care about if you OC the 5080 (i did) the headroom for that on the Astral and Suprim for that are really good too.

So I can see someone who casually watches tech videos will see stuff like this happening and think "their neck and neck" obviously for most 4k the 4090 with its additional VRAM will mostly always win by a good 3-7%

I think it looks good, grats

eh, these things are drop in the bucket for some of us, its a toy budget. a $7-800 price difference doesn't matter when money stops being an issue in your life.

The problem's not the $700, it's that it was on a 5080--and the most comically overpriced 5080 model in existence. The dude 2 posts above him literally just paid almost the same price for a 5090. If you're looking to grossly overpay, at least do it on a 5090.

My 5090 is coming tomorrow. Not exactly happy with the price. The last time I'm selling my previous card before actually holding the new one.

Well....took a chance on amazon and bought a 5090.
Searched Amazon just for giggles and there it was. An Inno3D X3 iChill 5090. Listed couple of hours back with one in stock. The MSRP for 5090s in my country is 220k (~2500USD). This was listed for 249k (~2870USD). The price seemed too good to be true as most other retailers in the country had other 5090s listed from 330k to 450k. The seller was also new. So contacted amazon and confirmed that there was a 7 day refund policy on this. So placed the order with delivery date of 22nd Feb (Saturday).

Basically took a gamble and now I am scared. Will this go through or turn out to be my first scam experience on Amazon? Stay tuned lol. Pray for me GAF!

Keep us up to date on if it's real and not just some bricks, good luck dude, make sure you pair it with an ATX 3.1 power supply to minimise the chance of this burning out cable BS.

Does the seller name read like chinese translated word.

Thanks. Yeah I do have a very recently purchased NZXT 3.1 1000w gold power supply. Hopefully it's good enough.

Haha no the name was normal but it is indeed suspicious. At least it was Prime delivery and Amazon fulfilled. And amazon confirmed that its fully refundable within 7 days of delivery. So who knows. It's a gamble. Let's see what happens :p

In my country there are some stores selling 5080. The 5080 here is around US$1600-2000. Didn't even asked about the 5090.

Major update- Turned out to be a scam indeed! Received salt and a couple of books inside a 3090 box. Called Amazon and they said theyve launched an investigation and to connect with them after 4 days. Shitting bricks and all. If anyone has any tips on how to deal with this process or any experience with this, please let me know.

No expereience, but amazon usually will refund you in such cases.
just make sure to keep screenshots, evidences in case you need to get your bank to reverse charges.

Got a ASUS PRIME RTX 5080 at MSRP for whatever reason and I'm very happy with it so far, upgrading from the 3080!

Best way to get one at the moment is to just buy a pre-built PC. Not necessarily bad, but always more in costs. I'll pass for now with trying. My RTX 3070 is still good enough for most games and I still run 1080p for that being the maximum my monitor can handle.

I just upgraded to a 4070 today (my prior system being a 2070) sooo I think I'm content for a few years

Though when i was at best buy i overheard the workers talking about they just got the premade desktops with 5080's.

The cheapest 5070ti I can find is 150$ over msrp but at least it's not msi ventus but some inspire oc plus shit.
Cheapest 5080 I see available is 250$ over msrp and it's msi ventus crap.

That 5070ti is kinda making me refresh the page to see if it's still available because fomo but that 5080 is not worth it probably with that price.
I am keeping it together though. These prices are too idiotic in poland.

BTW the msrp prices in Poland are(directly from nvidia):
5070ti 1000$
5080 1300$
Lol

What's really interesting, is that 5080 is 1300$ msrp on nvidia polish store website.
The same place I've bought 700$ msrp 3080 for.. 700$.
So it's not tax. It's not Vat. What is it then?! Why is nvidia selling their msrp card for 300$ more up front? Not that the FE was obtainable but the principle alone is strange.
When nvidia announced 3080 at 700$, I was able to normally try and get one. But their 1000$ 5080 msrp is just not real.

Oh and I found some 5090 in stock lol

And yes. that's in a normal, polish store and that's 5000$.

I recognised those x-kom online store prices right away, owner of that company is owner of current richest polish soccer club fighting hard for national championship, give that rich fuck a break, he has whole soccer team to feed and he needs major cash injection for his new soccer players :P

-10% deal on msi pl store btw.
You can get 5070ti inspire (worse than ventus) now for only 1050$ lol (don't do it)

After some investigation, amazon picked back the 'item' in a couple of days and has initiated full refund. Hasn't come to my CC back yet but looks like they didn't give me much headache about this.

Also, they didn't ask me for screenshot/video or any such thing. They said they have x-ray machines at their centers to track what was inside the box and when it was swapped etc. They took only 2 hours to investigate and approve return pickup.

Amazon returns are trash now. Ordered a pair of boots shortly after Christmas. Didn't fit. Had to wait 4 weeks to get my gift card balance refunded. Ended up buying the size I needed with cash and using the gift card for regular daily essentials. Just last month, ordered some Beats for my daughter's birthday. Accidentally ordered two pairs. Started the return process and was met with the same shit. Ended up keeping them to give to one of my other kids for their incoming bday. What happened? Amazon use to send out replacements before I even shipped the thing back. The idea was they'd charge my account if I didn't send it back within 30 days. WTF happened to that?
