Why don't they just remove all vehicles from Iraq's hotspots?

Everyday when I turn on the news or open up my browser (homepage: bbc news) I see/read about a new car bombing in Iraq claiming 3+ innocent lives. It's sickening because these bombings have become so consistent it no longer "really" feels like news.

Wouldn't placing some sort of ban on vehicles in all the major public hot-spots in Iraq help solve some of this? I understand people would need to get to say 'downtown', sure, but they could set up some sort of local transportation with the busses being checked by security at certain checkpoints, and only have registered drivers be the ones driving these busses.

The only vehicles allowed in major public areas would be these carpooling busses and American tanks.

Although it's sad to say even if the military tried this idea, the carbombers would just come up with something else. :(

Do you have any idea how large downtown Baghdad is and how many people move through the city each day? That's like removing all cars from the streets of New York and relying entirely on the subway and busses.

Then of course, people will just carry bombs, gas, guns, etc. into public places... or onto the busses (see UK bombings).

That's makes about as much sense as a 3 dollar bill. Here's an idea why don't we ban explosives?
Or we ban PEOPLE! People can't kill people if there aren't any people.
