Why don't we have Question Time in the United States? Wouldn't this be something that would benefit everyone involved? Congress would more readily have the ear of the Executive, better get the opinions of the people out, and also let the Executive know exactly where s/he stands with the people as a whole.

I mean... I can't see one reason why the US has yet to implement a public forum for discourse, on a regular basis, like Question Time. Plus, it'd make sure that the people in charge of executing the laws of this country with the power that the Presidency are in full awareness of the problems that are going on in the country in particular.

edit: plus by having a lively exchange there's no way it wouldn't help to support public awareness of the country's political goings-ons.

I dunno, I've gone to at least 5 town hall meetings sponsored by Cynthina McKinney and while watching C-Span have seen most of my issues brought up before Congress. Check with your local senator or representative. One of the reasons congress has so many breaks is so that they can meet with people in their districts.

basically I'm wondering, though, am I an idiot for thinking this is a good idea that should be adapted by our own government?
