Why is there not many "furries" in video games these days?

Mean while the weebs....

Old thread, I know, but… publishers simply realized that the big money is to be made from a much older audience than the one this market used to cater to in the mascot wars era. Also children grow out of that kind of stuff much earlier these days. The big reason Sonic has been a joke for a long time is that he's pretty much the "how do you do, fellow kids?" guy of the video games world.

Well, abit of off topic, but I remember movie "SOLO", and the media were touting the Lando is a pansexual or whatnot.
Not knowing what it meant - I looked up. Turns out, in that universe, Lando is attracted to any spieces (?)
Then what if the alien have a lot of fur and looks like that cat dude in Skyrim? Does that mean Lando is a potential furry too?

Yes, Lando is canonically a furry.

Go watch Empire Strikes Back, the tension between him and Chewbacca is real.

Yeah, kids are busy in Fortnite or CoD lobbies these days. That's what their friends are playing. But the Sonic movie has brought that particular franchise back to kids in a big way - my nephews are really into Sonic.

To the thread topic in general, I think furry characters are "of a time", that time being the late 80s into the early 90s when that's what was present in a lot of kids entertainment. Trends like that come and go. And it's not like that particular fandom isn't still being catered to in some fashion - it's definitely a periphery demographic for Pokemon, where (from Lucario's reveal on) there's at least one new 'mon per generation that's aimed at them.
