Wii in 2009 - The official Thread! (wii's best year?)

Great Thread thx.

Im most hyped about Arc Rise Fantasia.

The TMNT game is crap for me I have no interest in playing a ficghting game with turtles...

Ubi should copy DOA with a new ip and dump this underwhelming TMNT game in the Garbage...

Why so much hate? Damn...the game is being made by ex Team Ninja and SSBB staff and yet you're not even giving it a chance

Sin and Punishment 2 doesn't really look like it captures anything of what made the music and art of the original game so great. :-( Very sad!

No offnse Taxman, but do you have any proof? Anyone can walk in and say they've been working with some game studio on a project they can't talk about.

Rumors of Ubisoft releasing a Wii-exclusive "Anno" strategy/economy/citybuilding game on Wii after the Australian ratings board has listed it apparently are true. The German USK classification board also lists the new "Anno" game for Wii.

Anno - Create a new world / Anno - Erschaffe eine neue Welt

I wonder why Ubisoft is publishing the game after the awesome DS version has been published by Disney.

errr... Ubisoft did publish Anno on DS. At least in Europe.

.

People clamoring for Shantae better be buying LIT on wiiware. Not only is it a great game, every sale helps their next Wii effort.

Get buying!

So does this mean that the Wii Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is back on track to be released this year ? Yay !

I've looked through this thread and had trouble finding any fighting games (I know, it's because there aren't many coming out), but does anyone have info on fighting games for Wii that I might have missed?

I just got a Wii stick, so I hope there are more fighters on the way.

Really doubt it's releasing this year. Especially in America.
But at least we got a new gameplay video about it so it's not like it's cancelled like previously rumoured, right ?

There's the King of Fighters Collection that's already out, and a Samurai Showdown collection is coming.

Outside of that there's Tatsunoku vs Capcom if you have homebrew.

Virtual Console has a bunch.

The Sin and Punishment music wasn't that memorable, the character design was awesome, in 2 not so much :'(

Only one track of S&P was decent.

Considering all we've seen of the main character is his back, I'm calling bollocks. Every other element of the game (ruffians, vehicles, level design) wouldn't look out of place in the N64 game.

Besides, it was already confirmed that the original character designer was on board.

Anyone played Robocalypse for DS? Was it any good? Just asking, because Vogster is currently working on Robocalypse 2 for Wii. Don't know if that will be 2009, though - might be a 2010 title. Development started in the second half of 2008 as far as I can tell.

But he looks fat compared to Saki :lol
I miss the extreme slim look of the original.

I understand your skepticism, but there's nothing more I can say without getting sued. Sorry.

Yeah the sharp edges play alot to the charm, but it would probably look really stupid now.

Hopefully the character designer finds a nice mix (I would like for it to look exactly like the character art of S&P)

However, it looks as though Red Steel 2 is in a presentable state right now, as the "Next Month" page in Issue #34 of British Nintendo magazine NGamer promises to feature a first look at Red Steel 2 and "MotionPlus swordsmanship" in the May 2009 issue, which will hit news stands on Wednesday March 25th.

Ubisoft have slated Red Steel 2 for a Q4 2009 release, which gives you plenty of time to catch on the highly-anticipated sequel's flawed yet admirable predecessor.

From N-3ur0pe...

Don't know if anyone's seen this yet...motion+ Yaaaaay.

They're just the publisher, same for No More Heroes.

The whole soundtrack of S&P is some of the best videogame music ever. Half of the experience is the music. All real fans of the game agree on this. It has this 80's synth, casual energy that very few composers seem to master this day. In fact it reminds me somewhat of old C64 music.

It's a very different style. The colourscheme, the design, etc. It's much more mid 90's techno. There wouldn't be anything wrong with that per se, if it wasn't so seemingly derivative and uninspiredly done.
Besides, it was already confirmed that the original character designer was on board.
That means nothing. Talent can go away. Look at NiGHTS 2 and Michael Jackson for example.

I swear, the 'real/true fan' arguments don't further your point at all - they just make you (and everyone else who uses the term) sound stupid.

I loved Sin and punishment on VC, It was my very first download from the service, very enjoyable game.
The music was trash though.

I hope the squeal have at least decent music.

By real fan I mean people who enjoyed the spirit of the game. Enjoying all aspects of a game means you have a more "full" emotional resonance with the people who made it.
And fact is within it's genre and style, the music in S&P was AWESOME!
If you only like metal or indie that's just though luck for you, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the music in the game.
Why do you think they included a seperate player for the ingame music as a bonus? The team that made it, definetly didn't think of the soundtrack as filler "trash".

So you're already desmissing s&p2 for that trailer alone???
Heck, they even bring the original main members to do this game.....

I'm sorry, elevator porn music is not my thing.

All I see different in the trailer is the colour palette, which is more vibrant, and a lesser amount of sharp edges in the character models.

I still think we should see at least one drawn design before claiming it has taken a turn for the worse.

:lol Always it's this. Either porn music or elevatormusic. But you combined them, Kudos to you!
That comparison is like comparing a Chagall painting with a childrens drawing, John Williams with Bach or Tezuka with Disney.
Sure, they share some of the same means and overall "language" but they are different in almost all respects in both "message" and quality.
By the by, some porn music is not half bad. ;-)
As I said the S&P music has a lot in common with 80's fusion, C64 music and other original non techno/house electronic music.
It's you who don't have the background to recognize the quality. Or as I think is more plausible, you subconsciously or involuntarily recognise the quality, but you won't admit it to yourself.

More vibrant? On the contrary.
S&P has a sketchy, "lose", smudgy style that is pretty unique, this on the other hand looks very clear and clean.

I still think we should see at least one drawn design before claiming it has taken a turn for the worse.

You can tell a lot about a movie or a game by a single screenshot. A short trailer tells you a even more. It tells you about the overall intention and mindset behind the game.
