Wii Screen Shot Thread (56k no)

Hajime no Ippo Revolution

This IS NOT Punch-Out!! Still, it looks cool as hell. I can imagine myself working out while playing this game. Maybe fastening some weights to my hand or wrist or something.

WoW, that's a whole lot of Super monkey ball screens, game looks awesome, i might pick it up.

Panther, u must have done a lot of work posting those here, thanks.

First of all, appologies for posting so many pictures in a row with no room (or time) to comment on them. Also, sorry for the doubles that may have appeared previously in this thread, but that is the nature of finding screens. Alot of the new ones were sitting (numerically) between two old ones.

Now lets talk about Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. At this point I'm betting that we've seen the entire freaking game (sorry about that, too), but holy hell, the game looks bright, crisp, and mega-wow on the color palettes chosen. My favorite levels are the snow levels, but something is quite striking about the shot on the moon with the alien.

All that being said, I'm not sure that I'll purchase this game, but it sure looks like it would be a smash hit at a party, if not for the solo-adventuring types. Rental for sure.

Oh. My. God. SMB looks amazing. This was my most anticipated launch title regardless, but I'm looking forwards to it even more now.

Graphically, it looks fantastic. It looks like there are a billion minigames in there, and the arcade mode looks mindblowing.

hey panther. this is me totally humping your leg from gratitude for all these monkey ball screens.

YOU CAN'T HAVE TOO MANY SCREENS OF MONKEY BALL.

:) Thanks brother. And get off my leg.

Speaking of humping, I had a thought. I always wondered if that big monkey that has been a part of the series since the original (bigger but slower?) gets pretty close to a Donkey Kong infringement. And then I thought - "hey, what if they included Nintendo IPs in this?" AND THEN I thought..if Donkey Kong had his own version of this game, would that then be Super Donkey Balls?

Just wondering.

(more screens as they become available)

i've already got Super Donkey Balls on my Wii
:D

I'm beginning to wish they had spent the time including an extra 50 levels, instead of all those mini games. Some of them looked totally unplayable.

That, sir, is the question of the hour. Honestly, I think that having mini-games is actually a strategy that Nintendo has come up with for 3rd parties. Basically, every one of those mini-games is really a testing ground for a bigger concept. What works, what doesn't, what can be refined, what can be changed, what could stand alone as a concept?

Totally serious here. Everyone needs to give these mini-game fests a shot, if only to see what the future of the Wii might look like if an especially good concept (Snowboarding is going to be ****ing nails, I promise) gets legs and can stand on its own.

As for the Monkeyball concept itself, the whole you're-a-ball-balancing-on-a-platform-and-we'll-emulate-that-on-the-WiiMote...I dunno. No doubt it will work, but you want to do 50 levels of that? I'm not so sure.

Again, it comes down to how well the WiiMote experience is and whether it is something that people will want to play for hours on end, or if its more of a quick play session type of thing, and which games work best for both purposes.

Interesting directions that the Wii could be taken, no doubt.

is it just me or did they downgrade the graphic style of monkey ball fropm past episodes.??

just looks like someone threw together a ton of pastels trying to emulate florida back in the 80's or something. :(

It's just you, Monkey Ball 3 looks undeniably better than the old ones. Take a look at screenshots of them and then 3, it's cellshaded but definately better looking

Banana Blitz gets more appealing each day.

Has anyone posted these Kororinpa videos? Looks pretty good, though I don't know what the hell the guy is trying to do in the last vid.

I wouldn't say they've been "downgraded", just made a bit more simplistic. I get a baby toy vibe from it.

Certainly visually unappealing as far as I'm concerned.

God dammit Hudson, bring me your blatant but awesome-looking Monkey Ball ripoff, not this Bomberman Act Zero bull****.

Hmmm, both Rayman 4 and SMBBB hold a ton of promise. But I can't say I feel the urge to buy two mini-game collections. Nintendo's own Wii Play and Wario Ware Smooth Moves will only add to the chaos.

This thread caused the chaos that is the double post sin. While towers of Monkey Balls load below my reply little did I know what await me.

I just want to be the first person to go on record by stating that by "simplifying" the DQ series for the Wii, Square Enix is making a huge mistake.
The same thing could have been said about Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, and look how that turned out.

ahhh , maybe that's it. cell shaded? yet still it seems very laking to me in visuals.
not that visuals in this case effect gameplay to much but i loved the texture on the targets in past monkey ball and it's gone now.

simplistic would be a nicer way indeed of saying it.

In what way? The visuals do not seem to be significantly more detailed or complex. It basically comes down to style preference. I also prefer the older SMB titles (which had very striking colors and designs). The pastel color scheme chosen doesn't appeal.

Sonic, on the other hand, looks great.

Zelda, Mario, Metriod, Sonic, and Super Monkey Ball all looks pretty damn good graphics-wise. Don't know if I could say the same for gameplay on all of those games (mainly Super Monkey Ball). Man, I can't wait to play Zelda!

Red Steel and Madden look pretty good both graphics and gameplay-wise. Not as good as the ones I listed above, but better then average.

Project HAMMER doesn't impress me at all...neither does Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam.

For reference, here's some screenshots of the original Monkey Ball (these were actually cherrypicked for high quality, not low, granted GC screenshots are notorious for bad quality):

Cleaner textures... check
More complex character models... check
Improved level geometry... check
Better particle effects... check
Games in rear view mirror prettier than they appear... check.

IS THIS A GC/Wii COMPARISON THREAD? NO
IS THIS A Wii/PS3 COMPARISON THREAD? NO

THIS IS A Wii SCREEN SHOT THREAD.

GTFO WITH THAT SHIT

I still like the old style of Monkey Ball a lot better, graphics and sounds wise. But I've gotten used to the new style and can live with it. I'm more worried how it will play.

Holy crap I must've had some thick rose-colored glasses on when I was reminiscing on Monkey Ball 1. I remembered sprawling detailed landscapes. WTF. Oh well, Jet Force Gemini still looks awesome in my memory, and no one can take that from me.

I played Jet Force yesterday actually - framerate is BAD but everything else is actually holding up well.

In my opinion though, 1080 Snowboarding is holding up the best out of all N64 games.

Anyway, is it just me or are those new Sonic screens pretty low quality? Textures look a bit smeary. The game looks way better in motion in my opinion.

Sonic actually looks quite fun.

So, who is the developer? That fact that the game looks playable makes me assume it's external from Sega.

YOU CAN'T HAVE TOO MANY SCREENS OF MONKEY BALL.

Obviously this thread is stong evidence in support of that statement.

If I recall correctly Sonic Team JPN are the ones making Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Do we know whether we have to unlock the mini-games or if they are just there? Perhaps it's just me, but I hated having to unlock them in the other two episodes. Unlocking 50 minigames would be a royal PITA.

No doubt, but I'm pretty sure it will be similar to Rayman RR. As in, the mini-games will be presented in a linear format that you complete over time to ultimately achieve a goal (like free the monkey princess or something).

I would assume that once one has played a mini-game that it would then become accessible from the main menu. Let me look this one up and confirm.
