Wii Screen Shot Thread (56k no)

I personally think that NiGHTS looks like a fucking muddy-ass mess. Horrible color scheme, horrible textures, little-to-no clarity on anything. Sega should be embarrassed. I'm sure it will be fun, but jesus.
Their a huge improvment over the original screens though.

Please Sega, delay this game.

Haha, remember when some people thought that first footage was in-game?

Some of the models look blocky but it doesn't look too shabby IMO. This is one of those games, though, that makes me wish the Wii had a bit more horsepower (to make it feel more "epic" with more stuff onscreen, destruction, etc).

The sheer variety of environments in Super Mario Galaxy is staggering...I mean, we've seen every type of setting we could imagine...and couldn't! The game is poised to be a masterpiece of contemporary interactive entertainment.

The great thing is, almost every element in view screams play design. There's good art in Galaxy, of course, but the thing you notice first is a plethora of details that read clearly as "different things you can do". This is in stark contrast to high-profile PS3 or 360 games, where the first things you notice are, "Wow, that looks really beautiful!"

I like both approaches when done well, but the best Nintendo offers really differentiates them from all competition--and not just on other machines. It's why many third-party Wii games look so unimpressive in screenshots: they don't look as full of potential, more like halfway attempts at immersion.

Disater looks good for a sandbox game. (looks better then the last gens GTA) but I wouldn't mind a graphical update for the trees and cars.

This screen alone makes me think this game is more than it appears. A marlboro is in a chocobo game? SERIOUSLY?! Is this one of those games that looks like its for kids but it secretly fucking rules and these kids have no idea what sweet gems they hold in their hands? A FUCKING MARLBORO!

It's oneechanbara revolution. I'm not sure why there's a thread about this

Can you clarify the second sentence please? There is another thread about this (and I missed it), or you're not sure why there isn't a thread about this, or you're not sure why I'm posting these screens (in a screenie thread)?

Just wondering why there is a general screenshot thread. I guess for convenience but it's just so random. I can't even see some of the earlier ones because they are gone.

...you new around here?

Can anybody help explain please...

The existence of this thread is questionable to me, that's all. That's all I was saying.

But don't stop, I'll just move along.

I don't suppose you've noticed that its 80 pages long and it started last year before the Wii launched, right?

I'll explain, even though I'm not sure what you find questionable. It's exactly what it fuckin looks like: It's a thread where people that are interested can get updates on new screens for the Wii. Clear enough for ya?

Thanks for the update!
Ugh, those Medal of Honor textures... I am missing the correct words to describe my thoughts. Though, "disgusting" would probably fit quite well.
As tight and near-pixel perfect the controls might be (according to reviews), the PSP-level textures destroy this game for me. I know this is a PSP port but I have hoped for some visual upgrade. Doesn´t look like it. :(

Basic agreement. Of course, I'm of the school that thinks the reticule should be removed entirely (and a more forgiving auto-lock) and these games turned into Area 51 redux. I'm weaksauce though.

I got a whole 'nother month of updates to go so bear with me. Please everyone keep posting your opinions on these screens. Let those fuckers know what you think about some of this shit. And yes, they're reading this.

:)

sorry if the previous post came out a bit rude.

Its ok, you have been maintaining this thread for ages then some guy comes along and questions why this thread and all your work should exist.

I would be a little pissed as well.

Those MoH:H2 screenshots look like they were retouched. Mainly for the antialiasing.

No kidding. In real life it'll probably be a jagged mess.

What Olympic sport are they playing that Sonic has shot 20 feet straight into the air? Is trampoline jumping going to be added at Beijing?

Oh, and the gentleman who questioned the idea of posting game screenshots on a videogame forum at least got one thing right, the game is Oneechanbara R(evolution). It's a pun, you see: oneechan is a familiar appellation for "little sister", and chambara (the collapse to n is grammatical) is "swordplay".

Family Ski

In this one, you hold both the wiimote and nunchuck like they were the poles in your hands. To go faster, you tilt them outwards and tuck them near your ribs just like you were skiing. Who knows, it could actually be fun?

I think it's a great thread. A lot of screens I would otherwise never see if it weren't for this.
The thread is a good idea if it is actually used, all the time there are screenshot threads posted for games so it would be better to have one thread. It would lower the amount of trolling as well, for each system. I just meant why have this thread when people keep posting things in other threads.. every time one pops up it just is all one liners.

I'm going to Google "Wii Screenshot" <-- clicky.

You've said your piece but you clearly don't get it. This isn't just for the main games, this is for all the little stuff as well. Games that never get the light of day in a forum like this. Games like FURU FURU PARK. Games like ZACK & WIKI that were completely off the radar until screens started surfacing.

If you can't imagine why having one place to go to for all the latest screens is a good idea, you need to check your pulse. Last time I'm justifying it here for you. Next time I'm asking for a ban.

As far as this potentially stopping other screenie threads from poppin' up. If that were to happen I would end this thread immediately. Those threads are part of the lifeblood of this forum, and part of the reason I joined in the first place. It is the absolute first place the majority of us non-industry types get their first impression of almost every game. This just happens to be a place that random people can discover and peruse and say, holy shit, I've never heard of VICTORIOUS BOXERS!

Enough with the explanations. You don't like it, fine. You can find your own way out.

The art style and engine are really top-knotch; super super sharp (videos I've seen look like good 360/PS3 graphics). Cell-shading really brings out the best in the Wii, especially in the hands of a capable team.
