Eww, that doesn't look good at all...
Oh god.....
What has the lack of news done to us? *Sob*
Sooo... anyone else see Pachter's claims that Activision demanded a trad controller from Nintendo otherwise they wouldn't bring Call of Duty to the system?

So I saw a factsheet (not sure how recent) saying the Wii U will have 2 USB ports and no ethernet port. Is that correct?
I'm huge fan of Nintendo, but they're really screwing themselves if they do that. Wired > Wifi and if I have to buy an ethernet adapter, I won't be able to plug two wired controllers into the system.
The Wii didn't have an ethernet port. I don't feel like 6 years later, when even less people are on wired connections, Nintendo would go backwards to offer a wired connection port-- more reliable or not.
I doubt that. With the already lack of air space for current wirelessness, I can see wired connections booming in a year or two.

Yeah I am going to be disappointed lol.
If they want it to have a viable online, they'll offer a wired connection. I live in Arkansas and if you're not inside a major city (pretty much just Little Rock), you're probably getting low single digit download speed and maximum of 1-2 Mb/s upload. In theory that SHOULD be fast enough to run most games, but when you factor in wireless interference, instability of signal, distance to servers, etc., online gaming is far from optimal.
Just bizarre that they'd cater to CRT users with the Wii but not cater to wired internet users. HDTVs is something everyone everywhere CAN enjoy while stable fast internet is not.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you clarify what you mean on lack of air space? Isn't that what dual band routers are for? Put the microwave and the fridge and the dog collar on one and put the computer, and some the other major wireless electronics on the other?

Extremely disappointed. I don't think people should get their hopes up at all for the mythical fall conference. They'll more then likely go over what they presented at E3 but try to better manage the presentation. Though I doubt that. We'll likely get operating system information and a tiny bit on the account system as we get near launch and that's it. However I'm prepared to not even get that. I still don't believe they'll launch with the Wii U eShop being ready.

Why do all of be characters in Zombi U have shaved heads?
I have one of those. That's why I asked about the 2 USB ports + no Ethernet.
Let's say I want to play a fighting game (stick requires a wired connection) online (wired so I don't have to worry about lag spikes from interference), what if I need another USB port for something? Charging a controller? Keyboard maybe? Maybe I'm online with a buddy playing the new 2v2 fighting game that requires two sticks. Then I'm out of ports. And there is uncertainty with lag on USB hubs. I mean hell the first gen 360s had more than 2 USB ports and an ethernet port.

Gearbox CCO: Borderlands 2 Inventory & Artwork Would Be "Fantastic" On Wii U
Gearbox believes that Borderlands 2 would be a "fantastic" fit for the Wii U, though publisher 2K will apparently be taking a "wait and see" approach when it comes to potentially porting the FPSRPG over to Nintendo's new console.
"We really like the Wii U," Gearbox co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Brian Martel told us after a Borderlands 2 hands-on preview session last week. "I think it's a really cool platform. I like what they're doing - obviously with the touchscreen - and it will be interesting to see what Microsoft do with their approach to that idea. It's one of those problems of the Wii: the only people who have ever made a lot of money on the Wii is Nintendo."
"So we're really excited to bring Aliens: Colonial Marines to it. And we're going to do a wait and see approach, our publisher 2K is going to see whether they're going to go with that."
Should Gearbox and 2K decide to give a Borderlands 2 Wii U port a green light, however, Martel believes that some of its features would be perfectly suited to the platform.
"If Borderlands 2 was on the Wii U, the thing I would be most excited about is inventory management: it would be amazing on that, it would just be fantastic. And I think the artwork would look really good, with the way they can deal with the resolutions and textures, I think it's a really good console."
Gearbox, and Brian Martel specifically, have been praising the Wii U's potential over the last few months. We remain cautiously optimistic ahead of its Christmas launch.
Oh hey guys!
Finally got my account activated! Probably for the better considering how E3 went.. I think I helped a bit in over-hyping it.. sorry for that. We had quite fun leading up to it though!

25.6 GB/s @ 1.6 GHz DDR3 is not a big enough improvement over from X360's 21.6 GB/s @ 1.4 GHz (700x2) GDDR3 specially considering this is a Nintendo platform (and it has to last for 5 or more years). And considering this generation was bandwidth starved. It's implementing a bottleneck that plagued this gen. And it's not just about the CPU being overfed, this is the RAM serving GPU bandwidth.
You've said 1.6 GHz DDR3 (and there's DDR3 @ 2.5 GHz so they could even go higher, as eccentric as Nintendo is about RAM), so why not the same solution that was used for X360? 2x1.6=3.2 GHz would effectively double it to 51.2 GB/s and wouldn't cost much more to implement. It's cheap, but this is a games console so going with 1066 MHz DDR3 or similar low end solutions would make no sense (even if it technically already beats X360's 700 MHz solution).
1600 MHz could be fine if it was dual channel 2x1 GB=3.2 GHz. 1600 MHz total RAM speed on the other hand... not so much when last gen was sitting at 1.4 GHz and it suffered bottlenecking for it. It's a bad tradeoff.
Now we're depending on the CPU speed, I believe Nintendo wouldn't let total RAM speed outset the CPU, so if it's 2.8 GHz then I bet RAM will be at most totaling 2.8 GHz itself; hampering bandwidth a little.Oh, I doubt it's GDDR5, but I also doubt it's 25.6 GB/s bandwidth; it's too low.
Ugh. Looks like Aliens is a "test" game. We know how well that went on the Wii...
"Wait and see approach" = don't expect game. Standard Western 3rd party publisher response. It's empty.
Why are you guys being so negative?, Nintendo has to prove to them that third party's will sell well on a Nintendo system, if those games sell well we will get more third party support, don't start jumping to conclusions.

2K Taking A "Wait And See" Approach
Get used to seeing this, kids.

Starting off the system with a bunch of test games that will result in more games if they do well sits terribly with me as a consumer. It's not my problem to try and make sure 3rd parties support the thing.
Edit: Speaking of which you can bet that bullshit Mass Effect 3 support is going to decide a lot of future EA Wii U support.
