Good idea, thanks D-e-f-! I'll give it a shot and let y'all know if I hear anything.

Good luck! They're very open to community feedback so maybe they'll patch in a switch to turn that blinking off.

edit: when you post on Miiverse, do it on a post by their official Mii maybe.

Okay, I just emailed them. I'll paste the email below in case anyone's curious what I wrote. I'll let you all know what they say if I hear back from them.

Subject: Inquiry about Edge

Hi Two Tribes,

My name is Max Criden and I am a huge fan of your games. My wife and I are currently working our way through Toki Tori 2+ and Toki Tori. We really love both games and they are a delightful change from many other games out there. Mario just came out and we're loving that, but we still have to get our Toki Tori fix so we're about to play another level. Anyway, I'm writing to you because of a concern regarding Edge. I purchased Edge a few days ago on the Wii U eShop and was psyched to play it with my wife.

I should provide a little background here. My wife and I are both plagued with near-daily chronic migraines. There are several things that exacerbate these migraines. For example, I have a lot of food triggers for my migraines and so I can't eat soy, which rules out most Asian foods. It's a real bummer, I'd love to have some sushi but my migraines are bad enough as it is without making them worse. We also can't play 3DS games in 3D or watch 3D movies. My wife has also had grand mal (aka tonic-clonic) seizures in the past so strobe lights and rapidly blinking lights are a trigger for our migraines and to be strictly avoided for her seizures. Anyway, you can probably guess where I'm going with this. We booted up Edge earlier today and had to turn it off after less than two minutes of gameplay. The constant blinking of the cube you play as renders the game unplayable for us. We'd really like to play the game and I was wondering whether there was any option or ability to stop the cube from blinking as you play. I've barely played the game at all so I'm not sure if blinking lights are an ongoing part of the game in any other capacity, but I thought I should reach out to you and inquire about this as we're eager to play the game if possible.

Thanks very much for your time.

Best,

Max Criden

From an Interview with Teku Studios, the developers of Candle:
We're taking advantage of Wii U's unique features, and that means Off-TV support as well as touch input. We're adapting our interfaces to be controlled through the touchscreen (inventory, menus...), and we're thinking of more subtle uses like blowing at the microphone to turn off Teku's candle.

For now, PC and WiiU versions are virtually the same. We've just reduced some of our post-processing effects (bloom, depth of field...) in order to keep the game running smooth. At this point, both PC and WiiU versions run at 1080p60fps with just some minor tweaks here and there.

...we love Nintendo consoles so it was natural for us to aim for their next console. It is a very friendly platform and it's made for indie gaming. Nintendo has made things super easy to us, they helped us through the entire application process and we've received the DevKits for free, so we can't say a bad thing about them.

...development is very easy. We are developing Candle with Unity 4, wich allows simultaneous PC/WiiU deployment, and so the port process only took us a couple of weeks. We only had to adapt a bunch of our DirectX shaders to WiiU's environment, but we had them up and running in a matteru of days. The game is running well on both platforms so now we are doing a simultaneous development.

Lobodestroyo update | NeoGAF Thread

Lefthanded Games Studio, LLC. is now an official Nintendo indie developer! We got the call from Nintendo yesterday and are now ready to roll with Wii-U!

Due to NDA’s we just signed with Nintendo we can’t go into too much depth but we now have accurate costs for the necessary dev hardware to port Lobodestroyo to the Wii-U console.

We have restructured the costs and expenses as a team, and taking into account the massive interest from the Nintendo community on this game we have decided to lower the Wii-U goal. In fact we are going to abolish the stretch goal entirely and absorb the cost into our initial goal. So long and short of it:

Wii-U is now included in the goal total!!

Lobodestroyo will come to Wii-U if we reach our initial asking goal. The Wii-U stretch goal has been removed and the subsequent stretches adjusted to reflect this change!

I feel bad for not keeping up to date with the graphics for this thread. I'll have more time to make them over my Christmas break, but is there anyone else who'd like to take it over? I could send the .PSD template if someone's willing to work on it.

If not, I think what I might do is alter the template to not include the animation. It looks nice, but it takes way too long to make and isn't really that good of an indicator of the gameplay since it's so small.

So, anyone know if December is going to bring any eShop games? Only thing that sounds like a sure bet atm is that other Two Tribes game. I see Pac Man Museum listed on Wikipedia but I'm not sure if that's actually delayed or not. Oh, and did How To Survive just get canned entirely?

Since you'd put so much work into it, I didn't wanna say so, but the layout is a little too graphics-intensive. It wouldn't load on the Wii U browser, even, and that's the first time I've had an issue with that app.

I think visually, something like the Wii Games thread is effective. It would be less work too, as I imagine making all those animations for each game profile must be quite intensive.

Yeah, I know. :\

Originally I had been planning to use gifs of actual videos instead of just a small slideshow of gameplay images, but I underestimated both how much work it would be to record the video and make the animations, and how large this thread would end up being.

I wanted to include animations because I remember people asking in another thread with a similar idea (I think it was one for regular Wii U games?) for animations to be included with the banner for each game.

My exams will be finished in a week or so, which means I should be able to make a new simpler template (and perhaps even a more easily editable version so someone else can take over if need be).

I hope it's not another Dungeons & Dragons situation where the Wii U gets the game so late that no one has any interest by the time it comes out. Someone needs to reach out to 505 Games to find out what's going on there. Possible that Nintendo didn't approve the Wii U version yet...

A lot of cool stuff coming out, looking at the OP and this thread; Blood of the Werewolf, Child of Light, Pier Solar HD, Oddworld, Shantae, Mighty No. 9, The Girl and the Robot and Pac-Man Museum. More than plenty for me. :3

Anyone played Dungeons & Dragons? How is it on Wii U?

Ok....ok....I'm losing it! Have they totally changed the wii u eshop??? Please I feel blind, I could have sworn there was a menu for for example 'full titles', right now I can only see highlights, spotlight, application...

Lets say I want to see what full game titles are available, how on earth do I find that bloody menu?

Always say what region you're from because the shop layout is very different between regions.

I believe South Africa is counted towards EU region

hit search, mark "disc/download" (and whatever else you want to see) and hit "search with these filters" without adding a title and it displays all downloadable retail games (plus whatever else you marked). it's weird that they took out the general section at the bottom of the shop page.

Well, I bought EDGE, Puddle and Kung Fu Rabbit on impulse since they were all on sale (8 bucks for all three games!) I haven't started playing them yet, but they'll be nice to try out in between the releases of the big stuff.

KFR for one is totally awesome. I'm really looking forward to playing more of it, well worth the purchase.

I saw a News entry on the eShop for new game/s this week this morning, as well as the maintenance message. But only the maintenance one remains. This is the EU shop.

Did anyone else notice this?

Per Nintendo Life,

CastleStorm Gets Closer to Storming the Wii U eShop

he good news is that the title appears to be finally approaching release, with the studio posting on its own forums to link to the official Nintendo game page, which is showing December as the target window. Zen Studio's Community Manager said that the release date wasn't pinned down, but that it "should be ready to rock soon".

This game has attracted praise for its releases on other platforms, as it offers a mashup of real-time strategy, tower defence and 2D brawling. Its features will include a story mode, castle editor, co-op and online multiplayer; the releases on other platforms have also had additional DLC, so we'll also be interested in seeing whether that content will be on the Wii U day one or at a later date.

To repost what I said in the Dex thread.

Dex is now less than $500 away from it's Wii U goal with a little under two days to go. They will definitely hit!

Can't wait to play this on Wii U. If Human Revolution is any indication, it's the perfect platform.

Just pledged a pound. Might up it for a game code (time for unwise financial decisions, yay!).

Guy is really young. While none of his games look amazing, we should applaud him for starting somewhere. He's basically doing everything himself and I believe his games are launching at $2.

Aren't these like three people? Maestro used to pride themselves for having a guy who worked at Retro (audio/music stuff) in their midst. They have like 3-5 games announced right now and each and every image and preview they show of any of them looks like a weekend project. This isn't something you release for money, really. It's not even about graphics, it's simply that none of it looks even remotely like a fun game to play.

The office they have is basically a compound for indie devs. I think he's the sole employee of Maestro, with different people popping in and out of different projects from time to time.

And I think it was NST, not Retro?

The Super Metroid/Metroid Fusion rip-offs are so blatant in this one. They also really need some serious art and animation improvements. Looks terrible so far. Sometimes you really should wait before showing off your game.

Yeah I thought the same thing.

Then I thought "how come the WiiU have a lot of Metroidvania games on the way but no real Metroid?"

It's sad...
