Wii U Games 2013

I guess the whole fear is that those markets might not exist any more.

I would counter that they do exist and that it's the archaic business model that's holding everyone back at this point. ($60 games). If Nintendo had at least attempted to innovate on the business side of things the way they have on the hardware and software side, I'm not sure money would be as big of an issue.

I guess I am saying this over and over these days, but Nintendo's franchises lend themselves beautifully to f2p. Do it, Nintendo. Do it, and do it well.

i'm certain nintendo know full well that (at least some of) their IPs would be a beautiful fit for f2p and that they could make a boatload of money off it but i'm quite glad they're weary of it as i dont think a week goes by when we dont hear of yet another ios f2p several thousand quid horror story

I love the charging cradle, but can't use it since I have the controller with a case. So, I just leave it conected to the cable all the time.

One thing I've noticed is the wave of indie games that are coming to Wii U, mostly thanks to their Kickstarter goals. Anyone has a list of them? Is like there are 2-3 games announced per week. Of course most won't come untill late this year or 2014, but at least is cool.

Here's a partial list:

- Zen Pinball 2
- Toki Tori 2
- 1,001 Spikes
- Cloudberry Kingdom
- Pokemon Scramble U
- Mutant Mudds Deluxe
- Pier Solar
- Oliver & Spike
- Cryamore
- Armillo
- Anima: Gate's of Memory
- Two Brothers
- Gianna Sisters
- Project Y2K
- The 90's Arcade Racer
- Biker Bash
- Super Ubi Land
- Fade Into Darkness
- Cosmic Highway
- Karateka - updated (this game is not coming out for Wii U)
- Marvel Pinball
- CastleStorm
- Spin The Bottle
- UnEpic
- Scramkitty
- A World of Keflings
- 8-Bit Boy
- Dusty Raging Fist
- Unofficially announced racing project from Shin'en (might be FAST League Racing 2)
- Renegade Kid project (likely e-Shop-related but not confirmed, announcement coming at PAX EAST)

Third parties made loads of money off Wii.

For many publishers, the intent with Wii was to relegate as a console for younger children and/or the "casual audience". That is not the intention Nintendo has with their consoles, as they sell their consoles for everyone, and therefore seek to open new markets. Did Sony and MS try to do that with their consoles initially? Not really. They were fighting for the same market.

Nintendo helped grow the game industry by looking for new markets. They now introduced a controller with a rich color screen & they have NFC is coming, to once again attempt to open new markets by giving developers the opportunity to find new ways to create games. For publishers and developers to bail out so early on the WiiU only means they are not interested in growing new markets because, like with the Wii, they dont understand them.

Low budget shovelware games made money. Nothing else. And this isn't Wii. Games aren't going to com over when they're selling like shit.

They won't be announcing their Wii U game at PAX, unfortunately. I also believe it was confirmed as eShop-only.

resident evil 4 was shovelware? can i have some of what you are smoking please

the fact is there were quite a few non shovelware third party games that sold decent and made plenty of money

Low budget shovel ware makes money on any system.
Then again, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
So there is an audience for many of the games that come out
regardless of how you personally rate them.

Neither was the Gamecube, explain the lack of third party support

Seriously?

The reason Wii U isn't getting games is because Nintendo has been in a hole for almost two decades without being the go to console for third party games. They've done nothing to even match the competitive advantages their console competitors have over them, much less offer an advantage of their own to draw in consumers who have long played on a Sony or Microsoft platform. It's even more difficult now, because XBox Live is a huge competitive advantage where no one is going to move to another platform because of all the friends and contacts they've built up on the service over the years.

Publicly traded companies care about one thing: money. Putting their games on Nintendo platforms doesn't make money. If it was profitable for them they would do it, but they don't, and it's completely logical why. You're very ignorant if you think it's some kind of voodoo magic that 'somehow' keeps Nintendo in check.

I had my rants blaming Nintendo trust me you don't want to hear how stupid I think they have been bolding one line out of my post to call me ignorant does not help me learn anything new here. But yes I agree Nintendo policies went a long way into creating the business decisions that lock them out of major 3rd party support. They are far from alone in creating the problem the Wii U has though pointing at them is just the easy solution with publishers who just screw fans over because they can get away with it on a Nintendo platform. Mass Effect Trilogy Rayman Legends says hi

Look into stuff like Uncharted, Ratchet, Tokyo Jungle, Wipeout HD, Demon's Souls, Siren, Sly Cooper, Shadow of the Colossus, Infamous, etc. And since you were Nintendo only, non-Sony stuff like Dark Souls, Bayonetta, Red Dead Redemption, Vanquish, Metal Gear Solid (whole franchise), Resonance of Fate, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dishonored, Ninja Gaiden, etc.

Just because you don't like GoW and CoD doesn't mean there's nothing for you. Saying or thinking PS360 is all dudebro shit isn't different to trolls saying Nintendo consoles are all kiddy shit. There's a ton of great stuff to be played.

totally agree on that list of games that I could have experience I could go to wikipedia and list 100 more I might have loved does not change my circumstances or the reasons why I missed out.

I am 39 I bet I could list 70 NES classics from 3rd Parties you missed out on that I played.

this not a fanboy measuring contest I can't change how my life turned or how I experienced this hobby we are all different we all get different things out of it.

I bolded the ones I am really jelly about hope the PS4 can offer classics in some form

speaking of which there are still a huge number of games on Nintendo platforms I missed out on. I have no Idea why people are excited about Toki Tori 2 for example

You said it right there, if it's not the trend people will attack it (right now the trend is PS4, than Xbox 720, than it will be fine to say your getting a Wii U).

There is also the people who attack a system they don't have, and to talk bad about a system feature or problem they heard someone else say but don't actually have the proof to confirm it themselves.

Sometimes I regret going on hardware gaming forums (not talking about GAF specifically but other forums) because some people like to talk down the hype of a console.

Cosign this statement. I browse gaf less and less as the years go on for this very reason. I couldn't even read a Tomb Raider thread without people shitting it up saying how much the game sucked, before it even came out. The same goes for Wii U threads. I don't know the age of the people on this site, but the level of maturity is horribly low and some of these cats are way too personally invested in this shit.

Pretty much now I go use GAF as a news aggregate. I see what stories are being talked about, click the link, but don't really participate in the discussion anymore.

Even the Wii U Satisfaction thread had people shitting it up with idiots who don't own a Wii U telling others they're stupid for buying one.

Is Pokémon Rumble U coming out on the EU eShop? And are the figures coming out outside of Japan?

Nothing has been announced yet. I'd wait a few months before questioning the release. While the main games seem to have gone for a worldwide launch, the spin-offs are stll being staggered

OP is missing this:

Talking about spin offs, why do you believe that the WiiWare MD games didn't see a release on the West? I really hope that Rumbke U will come here... :(

Well, I don't think it deserves its own thread - yet - but a piece of info about the Wii U Project CARS version:

“We always prefer to aim for 30fps generally in order to keep gameplay-specific features like having more cars on track or better weather effects etc.

“So that’s standard across all consoles, and we’re more likely to utilize the native 720p support of the Wii U for launch especially since our physics and rendering systems demand a lot of processing power in order to deliver a truly next-gen experience.

“All you need to know is that when you get the game, it’ll look and feel amazing and you’ll want to show it off to your friends.”

The important information here, at least form me, being: the game is still coming... ^^

Ah ah lol, someone thought it was worth a thread. Yeah, I mean, feed the consoles warriorz...

Looks like Lego Batman 2 U has a release date of 5/21/13 for the North America.

I sure hope they fix the camera options for this game, maybe even have dual play "a la" sonic, where one player plays on the TV, the other one on the Gamepad.
I played this game on Wii and PC this week-end and had forgotten how bad the dynamic camera is ... thankfully it was gone in Lego Lord of the rings (at least on PC).

Crosses fingers

EDIT: well I checked the BB link and it looks like it's not been improved:
"Enlist the help of a friend, and stop vile villains together using drop-in/-out co-op gameplay with dynamic split-screen action"

That'll be a pass for me then ... shame
