Wii U Games 2013

I do wonder if Deus Ex was quietly canceled. Haven't heard anything regarding in a long time. Didn't Square Enix cancel a number of projects at various studios recently? The game was never going to sell well, no matter the version. So Square Enix could have eaten the money already spent and then ended it to save what they could or divert any budget towards something else that would naturally sell a lot better and maybe make a profit.

They JUST announced it going multiplat during E3. Why would they then cancel it after doing so much work on it? The game is done. It probably would've been out were it not for the multiplat release.

Square just sucks when it comes to release dates.

My Wii U froze on me when going to the main menu (it was stuck on that loading icon and I had to unplug it).

I was running tests of the resolution and cable setting to work it with my Hauppauge. The firmware is I believe at 1.0.2U, I hadn't updated it since I don't have Internet yet (still waiting).

Should I exchange it, or at least wait until I install all updates and if it starts fucking up (some have had issues after these), then just exchange it or go to Nintnedo's local repair shop? The latter is easier due to everything will be fixed them for certain. It's a bit of a bus ride.

What does Wii U GAF recommend?

Update firmware. Freezing is a common thing on the old FW. No reason to send it in unless something drastically worse happens.

That's what I thought, So I'll update it, and if it freezes again, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

It might very well freeze again, just like every console. That's a normal thing that can happen. If it happens every day or something like that, then you should ring up customer service.

Freezes happen when a command misses it's mark right? Why? Just a simple... "human" error?

I don't know when they happen^^

It's just been a relatively common thing that became far less common since the big April update (don't think I've had a single freeze since then and I had a few before that, mostly related to calling up Miiverse).

*in gentleman's hat and monocle* Hmm hmm, yes, quite interesting indeed, thank you old chap! :)

Thanks for the assurance. :)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut - FEMA Camp Walkthrough

that should settle it

Can anyone tell me how rayman legends controls with the wiimote? I'm debating between the Wii U version & PS3. If I can use the gamepad, and my wife can use the original wii classic controller then I'll go for the Wii U version. Otherwise, I don't want us to have to play this game w/ nunchucks.

Not sure, I know the Wii U pro controller works so that is a maybe. The free app runs great on the Wii U btw.

if it's anything like Rayman Origins in the Wii, it controls just fine.

Yeah I play the app with the Gamepad and love it. But my wife & I played through all of Origins together, and want to do the same for Legends. Unfortunately I don't have a Pro Controller. If that's the only option, then I guess I'll go PS3.

It seems Lost World is getting a "deadly six" edition for the Wii U version, in the UK at least, although I don't know why they wouldn't bring it elsewhere.

You don't need a nunchuck. On Wiimote, B is to run, 1 punch and 2 jump. Works surprisingly well.

It'd be a shame to give up the Gamepad play in a co-op situation with you and your partner, that's a lot of fun.

I don't think the demo had Wiimote support but Origins had tight and resposive controls. I guess Legends will handle the same.
If you're open to suggestions, get the Wii U version anyway. I've heard bad things about all the touch (Murphy) levels from the PS360 version. Those levels were made with a touchscreen in mind so using buttons will be tiresome.

You use the B button (trigger) to run? How is that not super awkward when hold the remote sideways?

If we say the Wii U, PS4 and Xbone launches in Nov 2013, the Wii U in my opinion blows the other two consoles out of the water in terms of games. imho

The games look really good and I can't wait.

So you're saying it basically controls like NSMB? If that's the case then I'm down.

Just to be completely sure I'm not spreading wrong information:

D-Pad - move
Hold B Button - sprint
A Button - become a bubble
Press A Button Twice - leave the game
Plus Button - pause menu
Button 1 - hit
Hold Button 1 - power attack
Hold Button 1 on Moskito Levels inhale
Button 2 - jump
Hold Button 2 - fly/join game anytime
Button 2 on Moskito Levels fire
Hold Button 2 on Moskito Levels autofire

Sorry. It's been a long time since the last time I played the game.
Edit: why don't you wanna play it with the Nunchuk combo? it is pretty comfortable and the button layout is easy to learn.

Thanks. Neither one of us likes using an analog stick for 2d platformers. The 'B' button for running is less than ideal. Do you know if RL supports the Wii Classic controller? If so, could we play with one person on Gamepad; another on classic?

Delightfully, full local multiplayer for up to five players is an option — we used the GamePad for Murphy and a Wii Classic Controller —

Supported controllers:
GamePad
Wii U Pro Controller
Wii Remote
Wii RemoteRemote + Nunchuk
Classic Controller,
Classic Controller Pro.

As you can see, options are not an issue so you're more than ready to go :P

Thanks so much! Not to beat a dead horse, but will whoever is playing on the Gamepad ONLY be able to control Murphy? Or are they controller a regular character most of the time, then Murphy in certain instances? Thanks again, and I'm sorry if these questions are nitpicky.

Dungeons & Dragons is still coming to Wii U eshop. Capcom said in July that t was planned for release in August, but that they couldn't guarantee it. Capcom said it ran into some "unexpected dev issues," so the title has been delayed a bit.

A 80% of the game you'll be playing with your regular character (Rayman, Globox, Barbara etc)
But the other 20% you'll have to use Murphy for specific levels. Some of those levels will be 100% Murphy based and others are shared with your regular character and Murphy.

This video will give you an idea of what to expect
Notice they're using Rayman the first half of the first level but then, the mechanic changes and now you control Murphy and try to help AI Barbara

Yeah I know this is what it does in single player. I just wasn't sure if the gamepad player would still get to control a regular platforming character in co-op, or if they were relegated to playing Murphy 100% of the time.

Not sure where else to put this but I've got a basic Wii U, and just picked up Nintendoland finally, my god these tutorials. It was 10-15 minutes before I could even start playing games, unless I missed the 'skip' button.

Thankfully you can skip the ones for individual games.

Don't worry, Nintendoland is pretty good about only showing tutorials once then unlocking increasingly hardcore content as you play and replay the games. There are actually some fair secrets in some of the games left to the player to figure out.

I think I may choose Wii U just because I like the lighter tone of their games. However, I'll eventually be forced to get another console for sports games tho.

Like I said, it's a good thing the game specific tutorials are skippable, but starting the game for the first time was a pain in the ass. Especially when you've got three people sitting there ready to play.

I know it's a bit tangental but would it better to play Wii U on a 720p television since most Wii U games render in native 720p. Would a 720p set also be better for Wii games since they are 480p. Was there any consensus on what looked better: Wii games on an original Wii with component cables or Wii games on a Wii U through HDMI?

One more thing. If I buy Wii VC games on my Wii U in Wii mode and I transferred the stuff on my original Wii to Wii U, does all the stuff I bought and my save files get erased and overwritten. Or are the two combined?

I think for the 720p television idea, aren't there some televisions where you can decrease the resolution? I think there are some that do it automatically if I am not mistaken about them existing.

Go 720p.

There are barely any 1080p Wii U games (only a handful known ATM), and Wii games look more better on Wii U.

Sadly there are only an EXTREME few native 1280x720 HDTVs, you'll have to settle with a 1366x768 (who the hell made these standard?!), and try to get one that allows overscan adjustment, since Wii U doesn't take it into account but Wii mode does.

It's not terrible and I got a good 32" Philips set for $200 after price matching, but the lack of an overscan is the only nag.

1. Techically speaking, yes, Wii games would looks better in a 720p screen vs a 1080p one.
The difference for Wii U games would be minimal though.
2. Wii games definitely look better through HDMI. They look crisper, colors are more natural since the signal is uncompressed. Not a big difference of course but still worth it.
3. Why would you buy the same games twice if you already know you'll transfer over the Wii VC games? Anyway, since both are literally the same thing, I think there's a pop up warning saying you already have the game. Asking you if you want to overwrite it (not sure about this one tho)

Damn that made me hype lol, honestly this is the type of stuff nintendo needs to turn into commercials for the west.

Ye I think so too. Marketing was piss poor. That video has me hype tho.

I have too many games to buy for the Wii U before the year is out. I have the money but just not the time.
