Wii U Games 2013

Okay, I guess it was just that ad that only showed Nintendo consoles. I wonder which system it usually does the best on.

The first two episodes, did better on Wii by far. Giants is still on the top10 charts among Europe for Wii
Now, with the decline of the Wii and the struggles of the Wii U, I think that it could do best on Xbox360 (considering that also Disney Infinity was doing good on it, together with the Wii version once again)

I finally reached the 3rd division in FIFA 13!

I love this, so much. It's my favorite off TV Wii U game. The rendering on the GamePad is crisp, superb. There's zero latency, it really makes a difference. And online is smooth as butter.

FIFA fans, whatever the newer version you have, you owe it to yourself to buy this game for cheap and play it off TV. It's a drug, but one of the best you'll find.

Division 3 :-)

I may double dip for NBA2k13 and Fifa 13 as silly as that may sound just for the off tv. Real cheap too. I am really having trouble going upstairs to play in my living room. And moving my PS3 is not an option because I want off tv, it is really great having that option.

I am holding off for my next purchase to see how everything goes, but will probably get a PC or steambox. But for now that money will go towards a lot of Wii U games I really want, 1st and 3rd party.

Quoting for the new page as I need more opinions (and I can't open a thread *sighs*).

So I'll maybe buy a Wii U by the end of the year, but I'm still unsure about the console because I already have a 3DS, Nintendo problems, I already played lots of Wii games, etc. I just came here to ask if these games are still active online and if it is good enough (I consider online mode good to play the games for a longer time, but is not essential to me):

- Sonic Racing Transformed
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- Need For Speed Most Wanted
- Monster Hunter 3G

And I would like an opinion of Pikmin 3 compared to Pikmin 2, as if I'm going to find it very different, etc.

Oh, and I played a demo unit yesterday and I didn't like the sticks placement, it was very awkward for me, though the gamepad is very comfortable and light. Rayman Legends looked good and Mario U looked as bright and clean as I expected but my hype somehow deflated by playing that first Mario level. Maybe I'm burned out of the New series because I played NSMB2 last year and the game wasn't very good, add that this Mario plays the same, I didn't like the squirrel suit and I don't have anyone to play with, then I don't really know if the WiiU could be good to me (also consider that it will be a 5 year console compared to the more powerful ones that will run for more time just like PS360 right now).
I love Nintendo games and the games look so good but I'm unsure of this console. Mario 3D World looks so fun and it includes 4 very different playable characters and the level design seems to be very good (way better than 3D land, which was already good but lacked in many ways), I have never played Wind Waker (loved the 20 minute demo in Zelda Collector's Edition), The Wonderful 101 seems innovative and fun, Game & Wario looks cool and that 9-Volt minigame could be addictive, Mario Kart 8 is going to be a big thing for me but doesn't look very different from 7 gameplay wise, Smash looks very good but I could get the 3DS version, Sonic Lost World doesn't seem to be my thing, I'm not very hyped for X and Donkey Kong doesn't do much different things compared to Returns. What do you think guys?

I've been very happy with my launch purchase and, as it sounds like you're a Nintendo fan, I would say it's a decent time to buy, unless you're also considering the new xbox or ps4. Can't say much regarding online, but I think at least sonic and monster Hunter are relatively active.

Personally Pikmin 3 has been one of my favorite games of the last few years. Packed with content and much more tense than the second one. I really think the wii u will hit its stride in games next year, and unless you're super interested in 3rd party offerings, will be great as a stand alone system. I've used mine a lot especially for parties. Especially Nintendo land, warioware, and nsmb.

Get it! I bought one at launch, at though the few months were a bit rocky, there's been high-quality software released every month since July. I'm much much happier with Wii U now than I was a few months back.

Also, you're forgetting about all the upcoming and existing e-shop indie releases. Nintendo have done a fantastic job at bringing indie games on board to Wii U. Exciting stuff!

I am loving mine and it has been and is going to be my main system for now. The library just went from no games to I cannot keep up.

Biggest feature for me is the gamepad. AC3 with the TV screen HUD less was really immersive. Also it added so much to the ZombiU experience

BUT please consider:

-Don´t expect lots of 3rd party support, although I think Nintendo will have a turn around in the holiday. I am getting another system but for now I will just see how it all plays out, not needing it and I want to enjoy the Wii U lineup.
-Off TV is a major selling point for many, even more now with Wii support. For me, Indie games will be bought on the Wii U for this reason alone.
-Check the available and coming soon games and build a list of games you want. If you have at least 5-6 I think it is justified
-W101 and Bayo 2, enough said!!

Stick placement might feel a little strange at first but you'll get used to it quickly. It now feels perfect for me. New Super Mario Bros. U is the best 2D Mario I have played (haven't played NSMB2 so can't comment on that). Squirrel suit plays a minor role. It's fun as single player. In addition to Story mode you have Challenges which can get very... well challenging. There's a good number of challenges too. New Super Luigi U is a DLC that features all new levels and changes up the formula nicely.

Nintendo games have been strong on the system and the future seems no different. From already released games New Super Mario Bros. U (+New Super Luigi U), Nintendo Land (don't make the mistake of overlooking this), Pikmin 3 and Wind Waker HD (especially if you haven't played the original, just brilliant remake and even better core game) are all great. I'm not a Platinum veteran but I found Wonderful 101 delightful fun which managed to surprise me countless times. It's a very meaty game too.

In the market for a new Wii u game and am tossing up between Rayman and Wind Waker. The main use I get out of the machine currently is with friends playing NSMBU and Nintendo Land so I'm leaning towards Rayman (plus that demo was pretty fun) but I don't know about another platformer... Zelda is Zelda obviously which is a known quantity.

Is there some kind of competitive aspect to local multiplayer in Rayman?

can't tell much about online, even if I think that MHU is still active.
I can tell you that NSMBU is reaaaaally good in terms of level design, if you go ahead you'll discover that it really is a godly 2d platformer.

Pikmin 3, btw, is to me way superior to Pikmin 2.
It has the perfect pace in-between Pikmin1 and Pikmin2.
It has great controls (best fit: remote + nunchak for the pointer, while using the gamepad as additional map for multi-tasking your three Captains)
It has great Miiverse integration
It has leaderboards and now DLC too
Mission mode help a lot in increasing longevity

You can beat the snot out of each other, and there's a multiplayer game that's based on soccer, but there's nothing competitive outside of that. Lums are counted, but you don't get anything for getting more than other people, so I guess it's as competitive as you want to make it.

As in the lum totals of each player are shown? Played the original on vita so I don't know if that's just how it was I the last game too.

No they didn't. They had ACIV footage taken directly from old trailer (obviously not Wii U footage). They've never shown not-PC footage of Watch Dogs anywhere. They had WD in the E3 Direct with white buttons but their are completely unreliable when it comes to that stuff. It's safer to assume all you've seen is PC.

This. It's why I'm content to wait when it comes to both games before purchasing and why I'm not hyped or anything like that for either game. I'd like to know what I'm getting first and won't buy sight unseen. So I have to wait until a Wii U specific trailer is put out like Splinter Cell (which I did really appreciate but wish they had done it a LOT sooner) or for someone else to take the bullet and upload videos on youtube when they come out.

Is anyone else becoming somewhat annoyed that non-Wii U footage keeps being used for these third party games in the Nintendo Directs?

Guh there are so many games coming out for Wii U and I'm so behind : ( So happy to have lots to play for the years to come, though! (As it will take me that long to get through them all)

Hey there!

I posted this in another thread but it's more relevant here and I feel I could get better feedback in here.

I recently purchased a Wind Waker edition Wii U on release date but I'm keeping it in box Til Christmas for me and my family. I'm looking for recommendations for which games I should make a priority and pick up. It can be games already released or that will be released by Christmas time. Also wondering if I should pick up a pro controller and or more wii-motes (I only have two right now) so if the game comes bundled with a wii-mote or you would recommend more with a certain title that would also be appreciated!

Honestly grab the Wonderful 101, Luigi U, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Rayman Legends. They are all great games. Oh and don't forget Zombie U.

Nice pick up. Surprised you can restrain yourself until Christmas time with Wind Waker sitting there calling out to you. Excluding Wind Waker, my favorite Wii U games are as follows:

Retail
- Wonderful 101
- Pikmin 3
- Rayman Legends
- Monster Hunter 3 U
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
- Lego City Undercover
- Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Nintendo Land
- New Super Luigi U

eShop
- Nano Assault Neo
- Little Inferno
- Toki Tori 2+
- Mutant Mudds Deluxe HD

Virtual Console
- Earthbound
- Super Metroid
- Mario World
- Mega Man X
- Legend of Zelda
- Adventures of Link

If you plan on playing multiplayer, then yeah, I recommend getting extra controllers too. Wii Party U is coming out soon bundled with a Wiimote+ so that might be a good pickup.

I can recommend, especially for playing with your familiy,: Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, NSMBU/NSLuigiU , Lego City Undercover, Nintendoland and Sonic All Star Racing. If your into racing games NSF Most Wanted is great and if you want more 'hardcore' games ( if those games exist...awful word ) I would consider buying The Wonderful 101 and ZombiU. Off course you should buy upcoming games like Sonic Lost World and Super Mario 3D World too .

Just a reminder, some multiplayer games on Nintendoland require Wii Motion Plus. The game is a lot of fun with family, and I'd recommend picking up at least one Wii Remote Plus. Wii Party U will come bundled with one for $50, but I haven't played the previous Wii Party game, so I'm not sure how good it'll be.

Oh trust me it's not easy. I got tempted the other day and had to wrap it in christmas wrapping paper and store it in the closet lol

Also, yeah I am considering wii party u because of the bundled wii mote but haven't played the previous one and am scared it would just be a game that collects dust or that I want to trade immediately. I've also considered sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games (also comes with wii mote) but didn't play the previous version of that either.

Pretty sure Mario 3D world is a given (that game looks amazing) and it's killing me that Mario kart 8 and smash don't come out Til next year (my most wanted games for the system)

Sooo... what is the 2014 thread gonna look like? Is there a single damn 3rd party game announced yet? Anything? Child of Light? Is that it? The next Skylanders and Just Dance can probably be assumed along with MAYBE CoD. What else?? Some scattered shovel ware?

:(

I'll be very surprised if any big 3rd party games come out next year. Of course, the shovelware will come. That's always a given. But anything else? Doubtful.

It's a bit scary, could be weeks between a single retail game release.

Early 2014 could be a replay of early 2013, eh. Except that we'll at least get DKC and MK8 during the first half of the year.

Whelp, guess I'll be upgrading my aging PC video card slightly earlier than planned.

Nintendo better have a few more compelling as fuck collaborations up their sleeves if they hope to fill out any kind of respectable library. A few hats full of money would not hurt either.

just dance 2015 will more than likely hit alongside lego stuffs and maybe skylanders. of course if there's a star wars game, that might happen too.

it seems the next gen trend is making mmo games for all genres, and that means putting them on stronger systems than the wii u, and on ones where there's a guaranteed online userbase thanks to paywalls. batman and asscreed are mostly single player affairs and they still go to the wii u. i don't know what the deal is with mgsv though.

ffxv isn't coming to the wii u because square enix is deathly afraid of being outclassed by x. that much is sure.

Nintendoland is great for families.
Rayman Legends is incredibly charming.
Wonderful 101 is one of the best action games I've ever played.
ZombiU is a really compelling survival horror game.

Pikmin 3 is the best game on the console and will be for the foreseeable future. A great action/adventure/strategy hybrid. Nothing out there like it. Extremely charming art direction and music. Clever level design and enemies.

Time to include indie games too lol.

I think Nintendo Land is awesome as a single player game. It's great with friends as well, of course.

It's fun and really challenging. I have been playing Wind Waker on Hero Mode and it has nothing on soloing Battle Quest as bowman.

Really love that as well. I'm gong to try my best to Master every level. Flying Samus' ship is pretty damn fun as well. Those control just feel perfect.

C'mon, Nintendo is in a pretty shitty situation now but they're still not crawling in the dirt
Let's see how the Wii U does this Christmas.

Wii U is receiving little supoprt even now, with just Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros properly porting game to the platform. Others are already non-existant.
The more the cross-gen titles will decrease, the more Wii U support will decrease too.

Yeah but saying "any big 3rd party game" is a bit of a stretch.
It is going to be an interesting year for them, that's for sure because it will make or break the console.
Sometimes, and only sometimes I think I feel sorry for Nintendo but then I remember they put themselves in this situation.

They gotta be already working on their 2014 ports or at least planning for them. But they are sitting there watching Holiday 2013 with the finger hovering over the big red nuke button ready to kill their projects if the sales don't pick up. That's why there hasn't been any announcements for third party stuff other than something with guaranteed appeal and little effort required like Child of Light.

Yeah, this is probably the most likely scenario. Got shit going in the early stages (but unannounced so that they don't risk later looking like assholes), but ready to scrap many things in a heartbeat if sales don't pick up substantially.

I was given a Gamestop gift card recently, but damn, their used game prices are insane. Considered getting ZombiU or NSMBU but I can get them so much cheaper on eBay or Craigslist. Might just pick up Mario 3D World when it releases.

Actually considering getting a wiiU and cancelling my ps4 preorder. Prefer local multiplayer and Nintendo is so much better at it.

My situation is somewhat similar. I bought a Wii U at launch. I've been a Wii U + PC gamer for the past year exclusively. The lack of Wii U games in the spring had me preordering a PS4.

I cancelled that preorder and have every major Wii U release bought or pre-ordered since. Between the Wii U and PC, there really is no need to own any other console (besides a few exclusives). I may get a PS4 or XBO when I get a greater grasp on what games they will have but for now, I'm absolutely more than happy with my gaming life.

If it's for use with the family Nintendoland is essential - honestly so much fun with 3 + players.

Rayman legends is also great co-op and single player.

Super Mario 3D World will be out by then too, which will be fun.

Would highly recommend Pikmin 3 and Zombi U as well.

Other Honourable mentions:
Wonderful 101
Sonic racing ( should be cheap and is great fun)

If you have the opportunity to play local multiplayer often, Game & Wario is really fun and worth it for Islands alone. I believe Target has it for $20 too.

Well, I don't like the extreme sentences too.
But I wouldn't be surpirsed to not see any bug third party game on the Wii U in 2014.
what could it receive?
Skylander, Just Dance, Scribblenauts...? I'd fear even about CoD, AC/WD, Batman.
Others are already announced for ohter platforms, and not for Wii U.

Mass Effect 3 question. Who is hosting the multiplayer servers for the game? EA or Nintendo? If Nintendo host the servers (for the connections) then there is a chance one can keep playing for as long as the Wii U is supported I think while EA would close them down.

Can you load matches solo?

I'd fear even about CoD, AC/WD, Batman.

If you mean you fear this year's game will get scrapped: Zero chance of that at this point.

If you're referring to the next installments. Yes, that's a very legit concern. Out of that list, I think we'll PROBABLY get CoD as long as Ghosts outsells BO2 Wii U, even if not by a huge margin. But as for the rest....

Thanks for making this thread. I've decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4 and this thread helps out a lot. My original plans were to get an Xbox One and down the road pick up a PS4, but honestly the systems are too similar and there's honestly nothing on Playstation that I want.
