Wii U Games 2015

This month as they failed for the first time since its debut to have one in December. DISAPPOINTED I WANT A REFUND!!!

What? I didn't pay for these directs? I DON'T CARE I LOVE TO COMPLAIN!

Anywho, it's true, since 2011 they've had one in Dec, breaking their streak for the first time ever.

2011: Dec 27th (how? ...)
2012: Dec 5th (we saw the first new Pikmin 3 footage since E3)
2013: Dec 18th (Hyrule Warriors unveiling)
2014: Dec neverth

Profound sadness. :(

That's okay, we'll get one at the end of this month with Diddy Kong Racing 2, F-Zero UX, Star Fox Uprising full-reveal, Metroid Prime 4, fully unveiled for Wii U, plus a free Reggie Fils-Amiibo to Club Nintendo Platinum users right guys?

Oh, and can't forget them grabbing Cry On ala Bayo2 and Devil's Third. :'(

So your going to post on here that Nintendo is going to release MP10 in less than 3 months even though no date has ever been mentioned and your argument is based on fact?

No, that's not what I said. I just stated facts about how classification dates relates to release dates, based on currently released Wii U products. I didn't give any dates, but a 3-5 month span from classification date would be logical, based on available facts. Saying that Devil's Third would be a September release when it got a classification in December the year before is not based on available facts.

It baffles me that people really believe Zelda will come out this year.

Why would it baffle you? Aonuma came on the VGAs & swore it would be out this year. Before that I was on the "it'll get delayed to spring" bandwagon, but that sounded like somebody putting his name on the line, confident that it was on schedule. Nintendo needs a holiday tentpole. And they have a lot of manpower they can throw at it to get it out the door in time.

I got severely disappointed with FFV. The story is nice, but the game is quite boring and got a lot of framerate problema, specially on the end, where you fight against lots of ghosts at the same time.

Beat the game once with the bad ending and never went back to get the best one since i was so tired of it. The Ayane missions are also a bad joke. In five minutes you end all of them unless you want to waste time on purpose.

It wasnt worth the 7000 yen i've paid for it. Should've went for kamen rider... :(

That's disappointing to hear. I loved the first two games to death, and was really anticipating this one. With the gamepad it seems like this was a really great opportunity for the system. Still not sure why Nintendo's leaving it to languish in Japan though, it's a free fill-in spot on their release calendar, unless they feel like the amount of voice acting will just sink any money the game could have made.

Yup fully agree, and also think they'd sooner pull people off other teams to make sure it releases on for Christmas worldwide then let it slip to 2016. It's the systems last hurrah and looks just stunning, so they'll (hopefully) be wanting to advertise the hell out of it too.

Really hope there's a good January direct soon too. Cracking though this years lineup is already, it's still a bit sparse, and I'd love a new Metroid and gimmick free Paper Mario (though I'm a bit weary of that after Sticker Star), and some more Splatoon like new IP's would be ace.

Man, Xenoblade and Zelda are looking amazing. Will be very hard to resist in 2015. At this rate I'll bite on a Wii U over PS4 :(

Switching gears....Do we think Nintendo will have another big Nintendo Direct this month (past 2 years, Jan. has been outstanding)?

Yes. Anytime between now and mid-February is when you can expect one. And it will tell you about the New 3DS, MH4U (EU press already has review code) and Kirby, specifically.

At last year's E3, Miyamoto stated that Star Fox had entered full development some time before E3:

He basically wanted to publicly announce Star Fox at E3 early on because he wanted to show us the asymmetric control scheme for the title, which was one of the goals Nintendo wanted to do at E3 in order to try to make more use of the GamePad's capabilities in future released titles. Also, it was a way for Nintendo to finally shut up Nintendo fans for begging the company for years to bring back Star Fox. Miyamoto's estimated short development time for the project, is also due to Nintendo seeking to co-develop the game with an unrevealed third party developer (apparently they were fishing for a potential development partner at E3), but Miyamoto said he'll still have direct involvement on the project as a supervisor.

This is exactly what I kept referring to when people kept saying "lool SF is not gonna make it in 2015!" and everyone thought what they "showed" at E3 was the absolute latest build lol. And least someone else also paid attention to what Miyamoto actually says in interviews ;)

I also liked the idea of using the gamepad as a camera, but i ended up using the analog stick to aim cause the gamepad got my arm tired after a while. Since some missions are big as hell, it ends up just being a cool gimmick, but not much more than that.

But i agree. Nintendo should release it overseas. I dont think people should expect much, but its not an awful game. Maybe the release date was bad. Playing it after the perfection that was bayo 2 was sad to me

:o nice I just found out that you can access wii mode in gamepad without tv or sensor bar.

Didn't know nintendo did this update. but finally i can play wii games off tv just by pressing the + button on wii mote on the menu.

We should since they seem to have a big one every two months or so. Last one was in November.
November 5th, right?

So it's been 2 months since the last Direct, although I guess you could say we got a mini Direct during that awards show thing.

We really could get one any day now, though!

the worst part about the next Direct is that it will be focused on the New 3DS: I predict late January, to announce a February release of the device in the West, together with Xenoblade 3D, alongside Shulk amiibo release on shelves.

Which actually fine as long as we get thrown a WiiU bone or two.

Honestly I expect them to continue the trend of individual game directs and eagerly await the Devils third direct

They haven't done any autumn/winter reveals this year on any directs, have they? (Like they did with Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors?)

I don't think there were any retail Wii U games announced in 2014 outside of E3. Going forward I expect Wii U retail games to only be announced at E3, which is nice because it makes their E3 presentations a lot better.

Saw this on twitter. It's from NintendoRevU, no idea what site that is but doesn't look too credible. They don't say anything about a source so probably fake.

A site that also unashamedly posts a "leaked Nintendo Direct games list" like it was E3 already with real games having wrong titles and stuff. Credibility = zero.

That "NintendoRevU" site should be banned INSTANTLY.

Anyone could whip this up in photoshop and then take a phone pic of their computer or TV screen displaying it.

The X is familiar...

Case in point. :P

wow so bandai namco confirmed as the publisher?

Maybe that's how Bamco rebranded their leaked ZombiU2 project! It's now a Sonic game! It all makes sense!

I keep forgetting about Mario Maker.

Man, I dreamed about a Mario level creator when I was a kid. Making this literally a dream come true.

Just reiterating how beautiful this thread is. Ordered the Super Mario 3D World bundle on Amazon last night for $260, can't wait for this coming year!

loving Toad so far, really!
Btw, I'm playing Batman Arkham Asylum on my PS3 (it was one of the free PS+ games I downloaded), and maaaaaaan, I miss the Gamepad map SO MUCH!!!

Once you go map, you can't go back.

That's why I'm shaking my head every time someone dismisses "map on second screen" as a great feature for a two-screen device or the deciding factor for which version of a multiplatform game to get. It's just so good!

Wow. Project cars getting a wii u release? It would be a great addition to ps4 library. Hope we will get it sometime in the future.

I was pretty satisfied with the direct today. I also noticed a little nugget on my Twitter feed that Retro has finally joined Twitter . Any ideas what they up too?

Apparently following hotels in Austin and random GAF members. It seems like it's for fun for now I guess.

Also I guess we need to update the dates for Mario Party 10 now (3/12 in JP, 3/20 NA, I forget the EU)

Also Mario v. DK has a retail release in JP on 3/5.

Both Mario Party 10 and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars are both March 20th for EU.

This is the thread where I can show my disappointment about yesterday's Direct.
I liked almost everything, but man if the PAL wii u isn't a wasteland in '15...

Toad in January, just because they delayed it; nothing in February; Mario Party in March, with Toad amiibo for Treasure tracker; Mario vs DK crossbuy in March; nothing in April; Splatoon in May, nothing in June.
So much for those Yoshi and Maker first half release schedule, eh...? Not even talking about the 5/11 months delay for Kirby....
The only thing that doesn't bother me so much is that with the N3DS purhcase (the ambassador one) not planned before, I will have to save some money, so this drought has a positive side...

So it's January 15 and you say there will be no more Directs or press releases during this first half year?

FWIW, NoA has already confirmed (in early December) that Yoshi will appear at about the same time as Codename S.T.E.A.M. and Splatoon.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/12/12/yoshis-woolly-world-confirmed-for-early-2015-release

of course there will be other Directs. but if they (both in November and January) had two "Spring '15 Directs" where they talked about may releases (as Splatoon), without even mentioning Mario Maker nor Yoshi, do you really think that those games will be released in Aprile and June (the only tow months left to be actually released in the FIRST HALF of the year, that was my point). Plus: DID YOU READ my post about NoE/PAL and Kirby delay? I don't give a f*ck about NoA: they are giving you Kirby in February, while we officially we'll see it in the SECOND HALF of the year.

What is up with the Kirby delay? Why?! Get with the global release thing Nintendo, goddamn!

I don't know, I think it's horrible. I can understand that the recent NoE layoff, especially for the localization team, affected the release schedule, but I can't believe that a light (in terms of text) game like Kirby is seeing a delay so huge. It comes out in February in US, while we are getting it officially in the second half, that means from June to December. That means 5 up to 10 months!

Just to piggyback on this thread since I'm still a junior...

Is there any point in me registering my Wii U games on club nintendo? I know I'm sadly way too late to get a free game for registering mk8, but I got my Wii U about a month ago and with Christmas presents I have around 10 brand new retail games. Is there any point in me registering one/all of them?

Wait, Kirby is delayed in Europe? And not in America?

Kirby is almost always delayed by half a year in Europe for whatever reason. I almost assume it's because it feels like they usually re-localize all the dialogue in the games.

If you live in any Club Nintendo eligible country then you can register the games to get Coins/Stars (depending on your region) that allow you to redeem some Nintendo loot, some of which gets pretty awesome on occasion like collector figures and physical soundtracks. Having a general Club Nintendo account linked to your NNID also lets you get in on some occasional promotions.

Wait, Kirby is delayed in Europe? And not in America?

actually, is not delayed. Kirby was a 2015 title: in November, they said that it would have been released in February in NA, and in the second half on the year in PAL. So, it's not delayed, but it is actually coming MONTHS later. In a worst way than Captain Toad.
So, the lack of Yoshi and Mario Maker pisses me off even more.
As I said, purchasing the N3ds (with Zelda MM and MH4) with Splatoon, Mario VS DK, Mario Party, Amiibos and Steam coming, it's not that bad for my wallet, but I'm still really worried about the actual 2015 outlook for PAL lands.

June is now also Spring? How can someone jump to the conclusion that there is no June game. It might as well be true, but it's in no way confirmed.

And there is still time for April, February is the only one doomed yet.

Actually, yes, June is Spring: it goes from March 21 to June 20.
But in any case, they had two "first part of 15" Directs and neither Yoshi nor Maker were there, while a May game (Splatoon) was, with a firm date too. And the Kirby delay is official.
C'mon guys, you know me: I'm not a troll of whatsoever

OK cool! I'm in the UK if that means anything.

If NoE has no games for April, why would they now release 2 games on the same day in March? And if they have 2 games for March, why can't they have 2 games for May? Or 3 games for March?

Kirby titles never sell much in EU. And Kirby titles usually are delayed for EU. They Kirby titles usually have different names in EU. So what's new this year regarding Kirby and EU?

And you probably SHOULD give a f*ck about NoA, since they (as in EU) have not shown any post-E3 footage of Yoshi, nor given any release date. The only difference right now is that NoA sent out a press release that Yoshi will be a spring title.

Yoshi being a Spring game for noA doens't mean it will be for NoE. Kirby isn't, we'll get it months later. Fossil fighter for 3DS is in the NoA PR and not in the NoE one too. If anything, being Yoshi in NoA PR and not in NoE one simply points out at another delay, after Toad and Kirby.
And Kirby is one of the best selling games in Italy, btw, so considering how we received Toad even one week after the other PAL countries (yes, LOL upon us) they could give us Kirby earlier.
Btw, up to now after their two "First part of '15 Directs", PAL Wii U lineup is lacking. That is a fact. I really hope they will regain momentum with Yoshi and Mario Maker, not delaying them to "better manage" their previously intended 2015 lineup

Also why the fudge did they announce another Project with just a logo?
What is this? Square?

We might be getting awesome limited editions in europe, but we don't get games. At least not in the first half of 2015.
