Wii U Games 2015

I can't see another Platinum collaboration, really.
They are working hard on Scalebound andh N wasn't interested in a long-term strategy with them.
I can see N working more with KT and Namco, while, hopefully, push Next level games to a Wii U game as "second party" job

Platinum games has two teams, they were working on the wonderful 101 and Bayo 2 at the same time.

Platinum F-zero? Nah. Star Fox though. *drools*

I think they are working also on the new MGRising.
Btw, mine was a general tought
they also had to have some people on legend of korra.

another platinum ride would be most welcome but i don't remember anyone stating that nintendo was interrested in a long term relationship. they seem to be pretty comfy with namco though so who knows

I'm obsessively checking Nintendo's website to see if they're going to restock the $200 refurbs. I want a Wii U but there's no way I'm paying $300 for one.

-I expected Woolly World to come out in March, but that's clearly not happening. June now makes the most sense to me, because they didn't re-introduce Kirby until 3 months prior to release, so I'm expecting the same thing to happen to Woolly World in a March Direct.

-I think Mario Maker gets the same treatment NES Remix 2 did last year. Digital release in April, retail release in December. The retail release will probably come with like the 100 best user created levels or some shit like that.

Personally, I think almost the opposite about those 2 titles. I think Mario Maker might be a premium title (such as MK8, Smash, Zelda) marketing-wise, and they would push the marketing during a 2-3 month period. The people involved creating this title, Mario's 30th anniversary, the hint at possible Megaman assets in the TGA video, etc indicate that this is a rather important project for Nintendo.

Yoshi's Woolly World is pre-marketed in Super Smash U at the moment. It's a game that might release at rather short notice, and NoA has announced that it's a soon-to-be-released-titles.

That hole in April is kind of interesting. They are releasing 2 new Wii U games (and an update for Captain Toad) on March 20. Then nothing announced in April, then Splatoon in May. And NoA has divided the amiibo wave 4 into 3 in March and 3 in May (but again no amiibos in April). That probably means April is reserved for something.

I'm also curious why there seems to be no press coverage of Mario Party 10, other than the material referenced from the Direct. Was there a media event in SF on the same day as the Direct? If so, is the Wii U material from that event not published because of some embargo, or was that media event only about the n3DS?

One further speculation from myself is that there might be a Star Fox-themed track in the MK8 DLC2, as a pre-marketing thing for the new Star Fox U game.

But the only thing I know for sure is that Nintendo's plans are unpredictable. ;-)

Considering how much time they've given covering Mario Maker, I highly doubt it's going to be a digital title. I mean, look at Mario vs Donkey Kong, it was announced and all, but they never gave much time to it until they announced the date and cross buy promotion in the Direct. Digital titles just aren't big titles in the sense that they get a huge amount of marketing.

Unlikely, last ND covered the games which were planned until May and Devil's Third wasn't among them (or am I wrong?).

Yeah, but as listed above, there seems to be a pretty noticeable gap for April so I think maybe some are expecting something was pulled back from the Direct for whatever reason.

Devils Third for April is my hunch then.

The wait for a new trailer is real.

Yes, I think that's a good guess. As I mentioned earlier in this thread (or if it was in the Direct thread), Mario Party 10 and Devil's Third are the 2 games that currently have been classified for Australia. We got the release date for Mario Party 10 in the Direct. (Mario vs. Donkey Kong U is a eShop-only title, so it probably gets the classification just a few weeks prior to release.)

Here's Devil's Third:

They could also release Devil's Third at the same time as Yoshi or some other title, since those games don't compete for the same demographic.

If you're on wii u, people are speculating it will appear eventually in this £8.99 weekly deal thing they're doing on the eshop currently.

I was under the impression that not all Wii titles released as downloads on Wii U are going to be part of the week long launch offer, just the first 3 in each region.

Unless I misunderstood then, expect Xenoblade & and all other wii games to be £18/$20 when they show up.

That's interesting, wasn't aware. Does make me wonder why they held it from the last Direct, though. Only reason I could think of is they want to have a dedicated Direct specifically to it.

Not covering "everything" for the next 5 months when WiiU needs desperately new releases is odd.
I hope to be proved wrong though :-)

It's not like not covering them in a Direct will make these hypothetical releases vanish into thin air lol

Remember this Direct was also in the day time, so they didnt cover mature titles, it will prob get its own direct kinda like Bayo 2 leading up to its release

I don't think they'll put Xenoblade as a download when they're trying to sell the 3DS port for $40.

That's what I thought too and seeing that they will probably not make a remaster for the Wii U I decided to finally buy Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii.
It cost me 100€ but I am sure I will enjoy the game a lot.

Note how they didn't say a word about the Hyrule Warriors DLC in the EU Direct for example. Nothing, not a logo or a quick slide with the date or what's in it, nothing. And that launches even a week earlier here than in the US. They have their time limit and things they want to push at any given time and that never covers everything they currently have on the place. Giving DT and Yoshi or whatever their proper segment would take up another 5ish minutes or so each. They seem to not want to make these "too long" to avoid people losing interest and being overwhelmed by information. They can easily give Yoshi and DT and Mario Maker and more Splatoon coverage in a February/March Direct, when the N3DS launch is out of the way and that block is freed up.

I don't think it's odd. First of all, the Direct this week was already one of the longest ever, where the marketing focus was the n3DS. Having a marathon Direct covering "everything" wouldn't benefit anyone. They used E3 2014 to show roughly what games they want to release during 2015.

Nintendo also has an approach to game development where they want to release good, solid, glitch-free games that work for customers day one. This means that they would probably not reveal release dates until they can guarantee that the software will meet their requirements on that date. It could also mean that they would not reveal dates for multiple games, in case one game delay might force them to reschedule.

Seems like Affordable Space Adventures is being prepared for a release fairly soon. Both USK and Australian classification just before Christmas.

Devil's Third needs to be in a general Direct to get more coverage (see W101 viewers). But also a dedicated one too!

I just read the press release regarding the December 2014 NoA sales (at January 15), and at the end it says:
"Nintendo is looking to ride the wave of momentum into 2015, with the launches of Splatoon, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. and Mario Party 10."
http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=42411

To me, this seems to indicate that Mario Maker arrives after Splatoon (Mario Maker is a title that would seem important for Nintendo to include on such a list). And it reconfirms that Yoshi is a spring title.

It could mean anything/nothing for Devil's Third, since that's a 3rd party game published by Nintendo that has been treated in a peculiar way (such as the initial announcement at E3 made by IGN directly after the Digital Event, instead of by Nintendo themselves).

very excited!

Re Devil's Third

Interesting Nintendo (will presumably) give another niche titles just the main direct near release (ala 101).

Perhaps they think the short announcement to release creates some free advertising with gaming sites broadcasting it during a prime time and gets the game out for mind share with a shorter wait period. Maybe there's some social science to it. Of course, it could be a turd. But given that this game has had some funded time in the oven. And the talent behind it.

Hope the game is worth the suspense I've created with it for myself. And I hope Wii U hits 60fps with Unreal Engine 3.

I think that both W101 and DThird would have seen commercial issues with any kind of promotion strategy. I think that the short timeframe between full reveal and release could actually be good for what you said, in gaining those 300 copies more to DThird sales :p

About the game: I wasn't thrilled by its initial reveal (neither the first for SP360 nor the secondo for Wii U), while the Treehouse footage with description attracted my interest and curiosity, especially due to the single player campaign confirmation, and some weird approach to the multiplayer and to the mix of action and shooting gameplays. Looking at it, I still have issues with the transition of the camera from third to first positioning, but hopefully in the final game it will work out well.

Today, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars was classified for the Australian market.

So now there are 3 Wii U games published by Nintendo in the classification database, indicating a preparation for release:
Devil's Third
Mario Party 10
