Wii U Games 2015

Not really an issue of "agree to disagree". This is just pure BS. It looks like a PS360 gen game. Nothing more, nothing less. Not the best looking game, not the worst. Comparing it to PS2 is just asking for people to ignore your opinion going forward.

There is a reason that almost everyone who saw it last year thought it looked like shit, and that reason wasn't because it looked like a run of the mill PS360 game. It would be one of, if not the, ugliest game on PS360.

Come on now. You must have a very short memory (or be deliberately trolling).

I'm not trolling anything. The game might turn out to be good. I certainly hope so, but it looks like ass. I can't think of anything from a major publisher that looks worse than this on PS360, maybe some cheap budget shovelware or something? Name me a couple games that are uglier than this.

Wrong

"Ugly", or "simple looking"? Because it doesn't look "ugly", and tons of retail 360 games didn't look better technically.

(Lollipop Chainsaw, love that game)

Always nothing. Completely irrelevant to anything. Do NOT read anything into any of these tweets.

No it most certainly wouldn't. The reason everyone said it looked like shit is because it looked like a generic PS360 game at first glance especially with that middle east-looking level and its generic brown look. Which is exactly what I said before, it doesn't look unique or particularly interesting but your hyperbole is factually nonsense.

We'll have to agree to disagree. It looked closer to a PS2 game than a current gen.

Before people ever mention PS2 in this context they really should go back and look at actual PlayStation 2 games. This is like when people used to toss out something looked like it had N64 graphics. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

I vividly remember someone claiming Metroid Other M looked like a PSOne game on another board back when that game came out. This idiocy will never end. People don't remember what old games actually looked like and then pull out this nonsense to tear a game down.

Eh, I'll bite. This was the generic PS2 looks:

All quality games I love from major publishers which got good reviews. And I didn't even take the worst screenshots.

Hate to break up the graphics debate but this is the most general wii u thread on gaf that's active so I'll ask here lol. Is now a good time to grab a Wii U? Was going to do the whole nintendo referb for $200, just wondering if there have been any rumblings lately that would suggest hanging on a bit more before buying one. Current plan is either next week or hold out 3 more weeks for e3 week.

Tough one. In Europe there were bundles with a basic Wii U + Wiimoteplus + Nintendoland + Wii Party U for €199 around new year (november to march i believe). The price for that bundle has since gone up. Otherwise it was impossible to beat.

The US refurb deal is still a good deal. But you could always wait for E3 i guess. It's only three weeks. But if you feel the itch and can't contain yourself, just go for it, $200 for a premium pack -refurb or not- is still a great deal, especially with people buying the refurb pack, all thinking they got a brand new console.

Of course... if they announce a Xenoblade X bundle at E3...

Yeah I guess I do have several RPG's in my backlog to troll through the next 3 weeks. The little kid in my brain is screaming "I want it now" though haha. Also secretly hoping they announce the white color would come back as an option, though not 8gb obviously.

I would wait to see what they say at E3. I doubt they would drop the price ahead of November/December (if at all), but you never know.

Not really expecting a price cut either, though it would be cool. That splatoon bundle dropping... next week? put the kibosh on that thought. Hopefully the announce like game price cuts for some titles or a e3 sale, that'd be a cool way to get a jump start on a new console heh.

Will try to stay strong guys :p

For the record, here were some of the online deals from Black Friday 2014:

- Best Buy had Wii U Deluxe bundle with 3D World, Nintendo Land, DKC: Tropical Freeze and Smash Bros for $360

- Toys R US Wii U Basic with Nintendo Land, Skylanders game some Skylander figurines for $199

- eBay Wii U Deluxe with Nintendo Land and 3D World or Smash Bros for $260/$250.

- Target Buy 2 Wii U games get one free

- Toys R Us Buy 1 Wii U game get another for 40% off

By the way, I agree that there likely won't be a Wii U price cut, at least not announced at E3. Nintendo probably doesn't want to undermine the sales of the new Splatoon console bundle. However, Nintendo really missed an opportunity to do a price cut for it then cause none of the Wii U console bundles have been very effective so far at $300 even with some digital incentives.

Can find similarly priced deals on a console used these days around those prices or less around the $170~240 range which is what I am keeping my eyes peeled for. If I see something good I'm jumping on it obviously :) Stuff like the skylanders bundle goes for the same price as a referb (after tax and all that) so I might go with that even without not wanting/knowing about skylanders. But i did want a white one

Almost jumped on a amazon warehouse deal the other day for a few games but I heard the way they clean the discs can make them unreadable on wii u which is kinda crazy.

I'm not even talking about profit here. Just have a hunch it'll be cancelled because the Wii U isn't powerful enough for their vision. But maybe they can make it work. Hopefully, for the few who are exciting about this version.

They're not doing this game just for the fun of it. What I'm telling you is that if they think they need the Wii U/Nintendo audience, cancelling the Wii U version could jeopardize the whole project. If they think they can do without it, yes they may cancel it, if they don't, they'll find ways to make a Nintendo release work one way or another.

Eh yeah? It is right in the text I linked to.

And in the text you link to, they say they want it to work at least with the next Nintendo hardware, hence their hope it'll be revealed sooner than it is currently speculated, and me saying: "they'll find ways to make a Nintendo release work one way or another". And I'm wondering if it's linked to the issue of the target audience of their game.

Why is this conversation dragging on?

Dang Nintendo's referbs are great, no wonder they hid their online store haha.

Sealed Mario Kart 8, Mario themed wii remote, and cheesy mario themed steering wheel for $60 flat. nunchuk for $10 more. Well over $120 for all this stuff new. Hell of a deal

Question: Which indie games on Wii U are either best on Wii U or have some sort of special Nintendo-themed nod in them (like the hidden area in Steamworld Dig or Mr. Video Game in 1001 Spikes)?

I'm trying to round out my collection a bit, and the indie games are the one area where I don't really know what I should be playing on the Wii U.

Stealth Inc. 2 - A Game of Clones (was designed for Wii U, was exclusive originally)
The Swapper
Thomas Was Alone
Teslagrad
Toki Tori 2+
Toki Tori
EDGE
RUSH
Swords & Soldiers HD
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails
Elliot Quest
Runner 2
Don't Starve: Giant Edition
Mutant Mudds Deluxe (NA only)
Lone Survivor Director's Cut
Shovel Knight
OlliOlli
The Fall
Cubemen 2
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition

None of them have special Nintendo-nods but I listed them because they have Wii U specific features that their other versions don't have ranging from Off-TV Play to something as simple as touch screen support making for better UI.

probably missing a bunch.

To be clear, you're only asking about multiplatform games, right? Not exclusives?

Teslagrad and Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition have Nintendo references.

Finishing up Arkham Origins. Really awesome game. Played the first two on PS3, and this time on Wii U. Wish it had trophies, but I can live without ;)

Too bad you can't have a map on the GamePad though like ACIII.

I bought that like 18 months ago, apart from a quick play around when I first got it I haven't touched it, probably should do at some point

You should really play Arkham City Armored Edition. They GamePad implementation is absolutely top notch. Arkham Origins was such a massive step back in that regard.

It is an awesome game, played it on WiiU as well and aside from the framerate, it was a solid enough port.

Shame that more people won't be able to play this though cause its not part of that Arkham PS4/One Collection. While sure the overworld is more of the same from City, the story itself in this game is pretty great and makes it worth playing.

I would consider that, but since I already played AC on PS3, the next Arkham game playthrough will be Arkham Knight.

But I would buy AC for Wii U since it probably is pretty cheap. Does it include all the DLC?
