Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

Since Nintendo Network can bring downloadable retail games (like the next 3D Super Mario), it could be a killer feature.

As for Xbox Live arcade, well Microsoft has a weakness on it. Since Microsoft doesn't want to publish games that have not appear on their service first, Nintendo could bring some indies games on their service exclusively which would be another reason. That's why Cave Story (Wiiware, Steam) or VVVVVV (3DS eShop, Steam) are not on XBLA. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-24-why-microsoft-wont-publish-psn-firsts

Nintendo just need to have all the XBLA library except 1st party games and have more exclusive by touching this weakness.

Yeah Microsoft's "All XBLA games must have a publisher and if you don't have one then we'll act as publisher but you'll have to play by our obtuse rules for the privilege" policy is really ass backwards in this day and age. All other services let independent developers "self-publish" which is why they don't have the same stupid restrictions.

Nintendo, listen to this man! If it needs to be more game-y, add a few base building elements, set up mining stations on asteroids, colonies on the moons of the gas giants, watch a solar system wide economy develop, and if you get bored, go for thrill rides in the rings of Saturn.

The last time I played any software of this sort was the Microsoft Space Simulator for PC back in high school, some time in the mid-1990s. Despite being a bit difficult to control, it left quite an impression on me. I'd love this kind of thing on the U.. different crafts to pilot, things hidden on the surfaces on various bodies. It'd be soooo good!

Third party hate Nintendo

Gonna sound conspiratorial here..

yes. (edit: I would not be surprised in some cases)

I'm holding my breath to see what comes after the initial wave of launch titles and quick-ports. That is going to be the moment of truth for this console, in my eyes. If we start hearing barely-viable excuses here and there, my B.S. detector is going to go-off. I know lots of folks around here are positive on how "close" companies like Ubi or Capcom are with Nintendo, but after being burned for the last two generations and seeing "for MS/Sony/PC/F-U-Ninty" so many times, trust will have to be re-earned.

And a haunting soundtrack like Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and Echoes, Space Odyssey 2001 or Moon (2009 movie) would be the awesomest.

2 hours until the showfloor opens and until Apple's conference, right? I smell nice news from each event.

Just enough time for me to grab a shower and then anoint my body with fragrant oils to get into the mood.

My gut tell me, IF WiiU is on the showfloor it's just going to be the same old tired demos we all know.

everything else behind closed ninja-sealed doors. Check in with your soul to take a peek.

So in less than 2 hours, we'll know if there's any new Wii U demos in the booth/partnerships revealed.

Keep your eyes on Twitter people.

Good call. For some reason, I keep on forgetting about how important Twitter has become in breaking video game news, intentionally or not.

Knowing our luck, some asshole will report that BEHIND-CLOSED-DOORS, there was a brand new Zelda demo but that he can't talk about it.

Unfortunately, you are correct.
If Nintendo indeed has nothing new to show for Wii U, at least there is a chance of interviews with Kit Ellis and other Nintendo personnel (I wonder if Reggie and Scott Moffitt are attending) bringing some fresh information.

And everyone goes apeshit insane.
three days later we will find out that it was the old zelda demo and the guy had no idea what he was talking about.

Classic game journalism. U know.

Nah, he wouldn't even mention Zelda. He would say "Guys, I just saw something amazing that you all want see - but can't talk about it".

And then we'll set-off into the same cycle of guessing, guessing, guessing, and bitching at him for saying anything in the first place. Fun times!

"Whilst most will hope for new information in regards to the company’s forthcoming home console, the Wii U, these presentations will instead discuss progress on the Nintendo 3DS. Similarly, the show floor will only see a strong handheld presence."

Anybody expecting anything else was being delusional.

All we can hope for is leaks from developers or vague details on what is shown behind closed doors.

This is what we live for. This is why we get up every morning to post on GAF. This is our destiny.

This is Hype train staff life.

Today is the day for news! Time to use the hustle to plea to the gods for a favor

Off topic. I love this episode of Futurama. Does anyone know the episode title?

On topic. I'm trying not to get hyped or excited. I would like to be surprised in the end though.

So, 3DS stuff will be shown to the public while the Wii U stuff is presented behind closed doors.
At least we made some small steps these days.

I told you guys we won't get shit about the Wii U until E3.

A year, a year without any real info on the Wii U whatsoever.

E3 better be fucking amazing, Nintendo.
