that's good to know.We at least have Ninja Gaiden confirmed to be doing this.

Oh?We at least have Ninja Gaiden confirmed to be doing this.

How far are you pushing the Wii U hardware with Ninja Gaiden 3?
Thats kind of hard to say right now because, like I said, were just getting it up and running now on Wii U. And were still finding out what the hardware can do and how to work with the hardware itself. Right now, were at a very early stage, so we cant say that were pushing it to its limits right now. But I can tell you that the team being what it is is definitely interested in pushing the hardware as hard as it can.
With 3DS, when we brought out Dead or Alive: Dimensions, that was one of the best looking 3DS games out there. And we really wanted to use whatever hardware we were on, we want to use to its full potential and really push that. Not just in spec, but the features that make that hardware unique.
So right now with Wii U, were just starting to know what Wii U is and how we can make it fun.
I think Nintendo is going to hold that back until E3, with their hope being to downplay expectations and then shock us with however much support they actually get.
This. Nintendo loves doing this. And even though we curse at them for the lack of info, when the reveal day comes, we all cry like babies.
Didn't Ken Levine praise Wii U at E3? I could have sworn he stopped just short of announcing Infinite for Wii U.
How likely is the name change rumour? I remember that there was a thread a while ago where Wii U was the definite name because it was trademarked, or something. I'm hoping for a name change but I'm guessing the name will stay.
I mean, come on, if there's going to be a Vita version of Infinite and the director loves this new platform, I'd be more hopeful for a port.
Here's his interview with Nintendo.

But later, he said his praise were from the view of a gamer, not a developer.
Which is, of course, the dumbest thing ever, but oh well.
I hope Levine is just trolling. Or maybe he just didn't have any plans at that time, but since then has had plans.
Or maybe he's just of one of those devs that just has to use the controller screen for something and if they can't/don't know how, then they'll just not port the games at all.
I suspect we are going to get a lot of that.
I’m more interested to see what exclusive titles are going to appear on the Wii U within its first years on the market. I hope Nintendo realizes the need for exclusives like Uncharted and Gears of War if they want the hardcore demographic to switch over to the Wii U.
Or maybe he's just of one of those devs that just has to use the controller screen for something and if they can't/don't know how, then they'll just not port the games at all.

Really? That's great!Ultra 64 was definite name at one time.

Developers lying to get out of making games for a Nintendo console?Yeaaaaah, I consider this to be an outright lie developers have liked to use for whatever reason...
I don't think there is going to be a Vita version of Infinite.

Oh? Hrm, seems like it's actually a separate game. That's even more confusing.
I wonder if it'll be RE PSP'd.
I think Levine said fairly recently that he hadn't even thought of an idea for the game yet.
Ken Levine being excited for the WiiU was PR.
He was probably the first to use the "we can't think of unique ways to use the controller so we're not making a WiiU version" excuse, which we're going to hear many times in the next few years.
Why would they need the PR unless they were a prospective developer? Mark Rein was more than happy to shit all over the Wii in public and Epic did just fine.
Regardless of the reasons, the Wii U name needs to go.
It's a bad name for many reasons, least of all being that it's just dumb.
It brings with it a certain stigma that it'll be a system for everyone but who Nintendo is trying to target.
As well as creates market confusion.
I cannot understand everyone's utter disdain for the name of this console.
It was a Nintendo video with positive impressions from various third party developers, meant to promote the console, immediately followed by this. Why would they need the PR unless they were a prospective developer? Because it's the laziest thing you could do?
Because it really undersells just what the console is?
Because people are stupid and won't get that it's a new system?
The later, maybe. The former not so much.
We know of Killer Freaks, plus the console exclusive of Ghost Recon Online.
I would prefer it be called the Wii 2, but otherwise I don't get this complaint. Consoles don't traditionally have fantastically intriguing names... Dreamcast is probably the best that I can recall.
And what to your mind would properly sell what it is?
I think this is exaggerated on this forum. Again, I'd prefer a '2' instead of the 'u,' but I think the doom and gloom over the name is overstated.
FFS, people: Hardcore gamers are easy to get. All it takes is games, and those will either come or not completely independent of what the console's name is.
It's not doom and gloom, so much as it is just "What the hell is Nintendo thinking?"
The system should, in no way, be compared to the Wii. It is not the Wii. It has a completely different philosophy from the Wii.
If anything, it should be a return to Nintendo's roots. Call it the Nintendo 6 or something. Ride the wave of nostalgia that they are with New Super Mario Bros.
This was never about hardcore gamers, though. Although trying to win them over with Wii _____ seems a bit backwards.
Brand differentiation is still a trouble with 3DS (although it's decreased), it had a commercial in Europe that had to come out and say "THIS ISN'T DS. THIS IS 3DS. MORONS."
Even Iwata had to address that it was actually a new console after E3, and people thought it was just a new Wii controller.
You overestimate the average buyer of consoles.
Developers are stupid as fuck, sometimes.

WiiU is fine as a name, as long as the overall image of the console (which includes appearance, logo, marketing, and even packaging) is differentiated enough from its precedessor.
The Wii U should be relatively easy to distinguish from its predecessor given the different concept behind the controller (as opposed to the 3DS, which looks almost exactly like a DS and could easily be mistaken for a new iteration of the old handheld). In spite of the name, Nintendo can build a different brand with the console. This was never about hardcore gamers, though. Although trying to win them over with Wii _____ seems a bit backwards.

You mean the same folks who likely know that the iPhone 4 was different from the iPhone 3 and so forth?
Wait. What? The only examples of any software shown for this system by Nintendo have been very clearly Wii-like in nature. Battle Mii and Chase Mii are clearly Wii-oriented. What are you looking at that I'm not? Throw in NSMB Mii and the pirate shield thing, and I'm curious what you're looking at.
And I'm going to tell you right now... IF the Wii U has a completely different philosophy than the Wii, Nintendo is in deep shit. It has to be a continuation of the Wii philosophy, but with other stuff layered on top. They cannot guarantee what 3rd parties will do, nor can they necessarily interest the 'hardcore' in their own titles. They know how to market to the Wii audience; they are still the best at it. Tossing that aside would be strategically moronic.
The Wii was a return to Nintendo's roots.
You mean the same folks who likely know that the iPhone 4 was different from the iPhone 3 and so forth? Where's the confusion coming from exactly? The confusion about the Wii U stemmed from Nintendo absolutely, horribly providing information during E3. Nothing else.
There's a new Wii every year?
