Not that it's the right or wise thing to do but are any of you guys going to buy third party games from big names just to send a message that there is an audience and home for them on a Nintendo platform???

I don't mean games you have no interest in but moreso ones that look somewhat appealing to you but push you over the top because you want third partys to do well and have a snowball effect??

I won't allow 3rd parties to blackmail me into buying their shit games by tying future support to inferior shovelware and obscure niche titles like they mostly did on the Wii. (at least in their PR)

If I want the game I'll buy it. If it's a serious effort I'll recommend it. 3rd parties need to stop acting like customers are to blame for their failures. But at a time when gamers actually started to believe that used sales are to blame for shoddy single player campaigns and rip offs like on disc DLC and Online Passes, another Problem blamed on customers is nothing surprising.

Not 'just' to send a message that there is an audience. And never in response to some half-assed preannounced blackmail 'experiment' thing.

But sure, same as with the Wii I'll pay a bit of attention to anything that comes out and may well go for it if tempted - had a whale of a time with some of the gems that came out for Wii.

Not that I expect that on its own to have any great impact on developers - many of them need to learn to put their A-teams out.

I'll buy games that interest me. I'm interested in Killer Freaks, Batman, AC3, and Darksiders II, just as I was interested in KHDDD, Sonic Generations, RE:Revelations, and Denpa Ningen for 3DS. I'm still considering Rhythm Thief and Zero Escape and I will consider Bravely Default, King of Pirates, Rayman Origins, Heroes of Ruin once more is annoucned about them and would consider Mutant Mudds, vvvvvvv and Colors3D if they were coming over here.

After watching Game of Thrones last night, this is what I think happened:
Nintendo gave different specs to every developer to find out who they could trust.
The ninjas are sharpening their fists as we speak.

"demos on iPhone"

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. At least TRY to make it believable.

It's that what's going on while I'm sleeping? Fakes?

Big fake confirmed.
"Nintendo ip demos on iOS "
"Allow people to sell or lend online bought games"
Lol really ?

What's the latest thing Trent Oster released? Never heard of him, but his WiiWare criticism is certainly true. But well, it's no longer true for DSiWare or eShop.

What I wonder though is why Nintendo's lotcheck is so difficult to achieve for developers. Why are some games, that are basically finished, held back by this process for more than a year?

he ported MDK2 to wiiware...

Yeah but the guys comments means he wont try it again on a principle....someone should tell him....still he thinks wii was not a console so yeah....waste of time i say...

Isn't that whole sell x copies to get your money gone with the eShop?

It could be a bad reaction to the first experience with Nintendo
so this dev hates Nintendo and decided never to deal with them again

fans start begging about WiiU and he posts his bad experience to tell them why

at least we can count on negative WiiU bullshit to pass the time

I can understand why the WiiWare situation might piss smaller devs off, but he can fuck right off with stuff like this.
It's nice that Twitter has allowed the Internet to take its bickering away from forums and basically tell people in the gaming industry directly how silly they are.

IP demos is actually believeable in my opinion. It wont be demos of actual games, but own games to promote the IP. They already did that with Pokémon. Lend online bought games however, that sounds fake indeed.

I don't even know who Trent is, but I already don't like him. I hate when people ignore the obvious just because they have an opinion. What has he done worthy of noting?

Pokemon Company did this, not Nintendo.
While Nintendo owns part of the Pokemon license, the PC is able to promote it as they see fit, so they were able to make a really lame iPhone app.

But the pokemon company is two thirds owned by nintendo so basically nintendo do have final say if they want

You know I was initially willing to understand this guy's problems with Nintendo and such. You can't please everybody and it's not like Nintendo hasn't been in the wrong when it comes to developers.

But these recent tweets... the ones that sound like they were ripped off a gamefaqs board... well... gloves come off.

Oh noes! What will the Wii U do without Decade Old PC Ports ripped straight from Interplay's mouldering corpse?!

Trent Oster said this earlier

My problems with Nintendo are: requiring 6000 unit sales before payment, a certification process that took us 9 months and a 40mb limit

Ouch. Sounds pretty bad, but I don't see why this would keep him from developing for the Wii U if they have changed.

So i am to believe they didn't know about the size limit and sales status before they started working on it? So mainly he's just angry with himself for not informing him or reading the contract or what?

I see. I still think that it is believeable, but if it will happen and in how large scale is another question.

No, that's GameFreak.
Pokemon Company is separate.

No, he's angry about a system that no longer exists.
IE: He's being a child.

According to his blog
I started my career as an independent developer, creating a shareware title called “Blasteroids 3D”.
He made shareware so you know he has to be evil.

Isn't jeuxvideo.com that French gaming site?

No it's not jeuxvideo.com (the leading french website about videogames since its creation, thanks to its obvious URL), it's 1001jeuxvideo.free.fr, it's hosted by Free, an Internet Provider that give free hosting space to people.

I can understand why the WiiWare situation might piss smaller devs off, but he can fuck right off with stuff like this.

The irony to this is that he implies that any and all gaming consoles (or entertainment devices in general) are not toys. Guy needs to get his context in check and be more specific to avoid sounding like a tool.

I thought the pokemon company was owned one third each by game freak, nintendo and creatures, with creatures being owned by nintendo anyway meaning thats two thirds nintendo owns

Maybe, too many fingers.
Anyway, the point is that for marketing they are able to do their own thing, which is why that iPhone app exists.

Of course, Oster has also said that the game isn't coming to 360 either, but the media won't focus on that.....
