Wii U Speculation Thread of Brains Beware: Wii U Re-Unveiling At E3 2012

Nothing confirming or denying so it is possible things have changed. However after recent posts by lherre and brain_stew, I do believe the person I've referred to knows someone.

Well I'm certainly no industry insider but whether before the end of the year or just after the start of 2012 it really seems logical Nintendo will have at least a few more details about the Wii U. I mean, for example does anyone really think they want to go over the details of their online system at E3? I expect them to be heavily focused on showing games at E3, they SHOULD announce those details ahead of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced other things too, such as more 3rd party games getting Wii U versions (GTA 5?). I'm not necessarily expecting a LOT, but a bit to whet our appetite and mainly leave details like games (and of course price) to be announced at E3.

I mean, I honestly can't imagine Nintendo having nothing substantial to share on Wii U between last E3 and the one coming up. It's too big of a gap.

I'm expecting nothing for the rest of the year, but some announcement from Nintendo in January/February, a little bit in March, April to be quiet again and then steady news in May.

You can quote me on this.

I'd still like it if he could confirm something on the overall number of SPU's. Even if its something that's still really vague and more or less obvious like "its above 320 SPU's" :)
"More than 320" wouldn't really be all that vague, as it leaves only two plausible options: 480 or 640.

It always amazes me to see how he went from looking normal to batshit insane.

That aside am I the only one who's completely lost the overview on all that Wii U hardware speculation ?

wha... that dude is REAL!?!?!

I said march, Rythm Heaven Fever will be the last Wii game for february.
Nothing really big, some new hints, small talk.

@Gaborn

Games man games.

Nintendo should have a nice little handful of games to show off, Not to mention third parties.

I agree games are important, and I'd love for them to do that, but I think if they're doing a "re-unveil" at E3 that's where they want us to SEE the games for the first time. I wouldn't be surprised by more port announcements but new games SHOWN pre-E3? I doubt it. I do think they'd show almost everything else though.

Though in part I'm assuming the games are going to surprise some people by how good they look compared to the expectations set last by E3 and the ports. If not then yes, they should show games.

Does brain_stew have connections?

Deja vu.

I agree, but I felt since a few months ago that if we didn't see anything by around TGS that they wouldn't show anything till next E3. I can see virtually the whole conference dedicated to Wii uU.

So do you guys think they're gonna change the design of the controller? Make it more sleek looking at least? It kinda looks like a fisher price toy atm, especially the back of the controller. I really hope nintendo doesn't go with white either

It does look cheap as fuck, I personally don't care about the look though, they SHOULD change the functionality. Add real triggers (Doesn't have to be 360 style if they don't want it), and add pressable analogs.

That's it.

Yes, the design will definitely change, I can almost guarantee. If they don't, it'd be a weird move. Think about he original Wiimote and how crappy it looked, and compare it to the final result - a sleek, comfortable and impressive controller.

I guess I don't remember the Wiimote looking exactly like it does now.

Not really, they made it longer ,added speakers, renamed a few things and that was pretty much it.
And to bgassassin, where'd you hear that they were changed?

The tablet looks kind of clunky but also sort of comfortable. Curious what they make of it. Hope it gets (resistive) multitouch too.

More options.

Well technically the multitouch on iPhone is needed due to the lack of buttons, so to imitate a stick and buttons at the same time you need multitouch.

The WiiU tablet already has two sticks and a ton of buttons, so the main use of multitouch is gone. Your other hand is going to be holding the controller up anyway, so it already has access to either a stick or buttons.

If you're asking if it will look like an Apple product, or be black, then I think you will be shit out of luck.

If you have both, then you can explorer more movements on the map in real time. Making more possible and innovation idea are welcome.

I don't care whether or not it looks like an Apple product but I sure wish at least the console would be black so it doesn't look like a freakin' marshmallow next to the rest of our black electronics.

The Wii is growing up and playing HD with the big boys now. It should be black. Or at least available in black if they just gotta make a white one too (for the Disney Princess demographic).

Wow...quite possibly the stupidest comment I have ever read.
Seriously "lol white is for babies and little princess'. Black is where the big bois are at"

After playing through a huge chunk of Mario 3D Land and the first couple hours of Skyward Sword, I will say Nintendo just slammed it out of the park over the last 5 years. They have my sword...and my money for a whole new generation of classics.

Nintendo's white is suited to match Apple white, duh.

AKA the elite twins of the bland-design era.

So do any of us really thing Wii U has a chance of gettting Steam? Or even Origin for that matter. Though if it were a choice of the two Steam would be the obvious choice, but this is NCL.

OT: Where the hell is the reply button?

Steam would be a logical target for Nintendo to integrate into their system, yes. All we've heard is how Nintendo is making an effort to work with 3rd parties online so why would it be surprising to have one or both of those?

OT: Where the hell is the reply button?

Evilore deliberately removed the reply button next to each post since he considered it redundant.

If Nintendo really did fully support Steam and Origin marketplaces, I'd be willing to amend my long standing stance on multiple SKUs and support a possible "online ready" bundle that comes with a beefy USB hard drive and maybe a digital copy of a game of your choice.

Of course, I'd probably forego such a bundle and buy a separate HD for much cheaper, but it'd still be pretty cool for people that want it made easy

I expect both to be available for access. However the games on Steam weren't designed for the Wii U. I think that's what gets forgotten about the huge desire for Steam.

I'm a little confused at this Origin/Steam talk...

What exactly would it mean it have Steam on Wii U? I mean, not all those games will automatically work. What would really be different besides having a lot of Valve games on the system?

Oh, please. The DS Lite and DSi both came in black and both times I picked up the white model. And a lot of my electronics are silver, not black. The only thing in my media center that's black is the VCR...

Plus all my Wiimotes are white, so I'd totally want a white Wii U.

I think some are under the impression that Steam on a console would mean they could play all the games they've already purchased on the console. They forget that the game would have to developed for the console's hardware, then the console maker would have to get their cut.
