Wii U's Nintendo TVii, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, and Netflix pushed to Dec.

Someone at Gamestop was saying they heard that, concerning TVii, that Nintendo is going to charge three cents to change the channel. I want to laugh or make fun of this rumor but...

He was confused - in Japan there's a small one-time fee to enable the remote control abilities (presumably to pay for the guide service they are using)
 
Who in the ever-living hell preordered Wii U as a set-top box?

Considering how poor the options are, I can understand looking at every new alternative as a viable option.

Google TV is probably a better choice, with HDMI pass through, but even the kings of search can't make it easy to use. I'd consider TVii a curio until we see more of it. There is the danger that we project what we want onto it, and are then disappointed when it doesn't fill all those criteria
