Eh, I don't see the big deal either way. It's not like the guys tussled like drunk people in a bar or angry players on a sport field. One guy said a bad joke, other guy slapped him in the face, case closed, no harm done other than symbolic. None of them is really "right", but it's as good a way as another to settle a dispute in the moment.

Never mind GIJane 2.

That image of Jada Pinkett looks perfect for playing a Star Trek character. That black latexy outfit looks fine for a space uniform, she's got giant earrings as futuristic jewelry, and being a bald female is always a good differentiator to give it that "she's not from the 21st century look". She looks like she can play a 25th century politician from the all-female planet August Alsina in star quadrant 438.29.

You'd think some hollywood people at an Oscar event in tuxedos would act better.

Well, the culture of "Chill, It's just a joke" sure is getting out of hand to be honest. You can pretty much say every mean thing that's on your mind as long as you put a "it's just a joke" disclaimer at the end.
While this joke is maybe airing slightly on the side of inappropriate, it really isn't all that bad of a joke compared to the shit that gets said on the these award shows. These comics like Chris Rock and Gervais are hired for the purpose of roasting the audience and provide some levity. It's become a tradition for award shows so the audience expects it and comes prepared, otherwise no one would watch these Hollywood circle jerks.

With that being said yes there are some things you shouldn't joke about but you should also never assault someone either. Alopecia is harmless beyond the cosmetic decline from losing hair. This shit isn't cancer and her life isn't in danger. Men lose their hair all the time and we make fun of them without any issue. Yes it's a different mechanism of hair loss but the results are effectively the same in the end. And hey... at least you have much better chances of recovering from alopecia areata than reversing male pattern baldness.

Also it's entirely possible that Chris may not have known. The Alopecia only became public very recently so he may not have been in the loop. It's also really hard to tell by just looking because it's either a very mild case, she is recovering, or she had some micropigmentation/tattoo work done to hide it. She looks beautiful and no one could tell by looking. Whatever the case may be this should have been enough to give Chris the benefit of the doubt.

My opinion is that Will is completely in the wrong here. His relationship with Jada was very weird (entanglement lol) and very public. The interview they did probably left him feeling emasculated. Getting meme'd on for years may have left him in a dark place. It didn't help that Chris made another joke a few years prior that went viral. If this was such an appalling joke Will and the audience wouldn't have laughed at it for so long. Once he saw his wife rolling her eyes that's when he decided to try to prove something to someone. I don't know if it was to himself, to Jada, or the audience but personally I think it came across as a bitch move in the end. The acceptance speech about love when he had just assaulted someone was icing on the cake.

Either way, she still looks gorgeous. Not sure why she wouldn't laugh at that joke.
doesn't matter if you think she looks gorgeous. losing hair fucks up your mind and it's even worse for women. i know it's just a joke but it would've hurt. i'm sure she doesn't find it funny.

It's Chris Rock doing jabs at an award show. It happens all the time to people.

Just to show nobody cared, everyone was laughing at the joke. It wasn't till he went on stage and hit him it became serious.

It would be much different if the joke was done at a different kind of event, wasnt a comedian doing it, and the second rock told the joke everyone gasped in bad taste. Not true. The crowd of hollywood peers thought it was funny.
I 100% agree Will Smith overreacted, but not with the general attitude (as some other people mentioned here) that you should NEVER react to verbal with a violence. Pussy talk.

Also, it was not even violence, he slapped him once FFS.

Nah, it's way more pathetic when men try desperately to hold on to that last residue of hair on their heads when it's obvious they are balding. Embrace it.

I agree that sometimes violence is needed even if just words. I mentioned it above myself.

But for me, it it has to be taken seriously as "violence is ok to shut him up", its got to be something very serious. And also something that's more of a preventative measure if it looks like it'll lead to something worse.

But let's face it. Chris Rock doing a one off GIJane joke is not the same as a drunk guy egging you on in a bar wanting to fight, where you never know what he'll do standing 2 ft away from you.

Good luck raising your kids with an attitude like that. I'm sure they will not be picked up on at school.
Big difference between kids at school getting bullied all day vs 50 year olds at an awards gala with peers and a comedian host.

With kids it's even harder, because a lot of fights (at least the ones I got into a lot) werent even all from dumbass insults. But they'd stem from gym class or recess where were playing soccer and people are pissing each other off kicking each others shins. Or playing ball hockey after school and some guys are pricks whacking your ankles with road hockey sticks pretending "what? I'm just going after the ball", where blades have become all sharp and cracked from playing on the street. And then insults get comboed into it.

Will was initially laughing but because Jada couldn't take the joke so she had her man get back at Chris??

reminds me of one of the Meegan skits from Key & Peele

Chris was hired to make jokes.

In fact his job was to specifically make jokes about the people in the audience.

And his employers let someone walk up the stage and physically assault him when he was just doing his job. And somehow that is ok.

I dunno man, Hollywood is weird.

Will Smith is a loser now it seems, imagine acting like that over a joke, probably a good thing he never went on a show like never mind the buzzcocks (not the new one, the classic amazing old one), he would probably murder the presenter (especially if it was Simon Amstell) lol

Plus wasn't Jada bonking someone else in 2020?

I've lost all my hair in the course of about a month. I know how it feels. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And if she was feeling sensitive to not having hair, why not wear some type of covering? Eh...

Pretty sure they didn't hire him to make offensive jokes towards the audience, but I guess that is another argument.

They couldn't gas him.

He won an award later that night, so it would look worse if he wasnt there to take it due to being escorted out the building.

It looks worse having him slapping someone to later get an award and giving him the platform to act as the victim!

What point were you making when you said; they didn't hire him to make offensive jokes towards the audience
The point that he crossed a line with his joke. Which he did in my opinion. I think you might have missed my first post in this thread. I already said that what Will Smith did was wrong. I also said that the "joke" Chris Rock made was wrong.

Everyone involved in this is wrong in one way or another from where I am sitting. Apologies all around.

Shocked that so many people are defending his behavior, praising his behavior, and instead attacking everyone who condemns him by basically saying “you’re a pussy” or “white people”.

The future is very bright.

Balding men? Lol you bald man lol you!

Balding woman? Can’t say it

Is it, though? Smith is the equivalent of what folks might call a "made man." The rules don't apply to him in certain circumstances, at least not during the moment it's happening, I suppose.

That’s just it though, it’s your opinion. In my opinion he didn’t cross the line. Comedians have the right to offend.

You want Chris Rock to apologise to a man who just slapped him live on TV? That’d make him just as big a cuck as Smith.

What Chris Rock said was subjectively wrong, what Smith did was objectively and legally wrong.

Black_Stride

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
That was a watershed moment for the ‘you can’t make jokes anymore’ movement. Not that it was a joke worth defending but we’ve gone from tweeting ‘I’m offended’ to slapping people. There’s no going back. Ricky Gervais is gonna need to bring a bodyguard on stage with him the next time he does one of these awards shows.

Hahahaha is this a copy-pasta?

All comedians gotta expect hands when they tell jokes at someones expense, their willingness to accept hands and the balls to simply tell the joke is what makes good comedians great.

Okay. Agree to disagree.

Wait are they still married? I thought I heard she was fucking another dude for ages and then spoke about it in great detail in some talk show or something in front of Will making him cry on camera sadwillsmith.jpg.
Talk about adding insult to injury. Not surprised dude is off his rocker but how desperate can he possibly be?
