Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

Is it, though? Smith is the equivalent of what folks might call a "made man." The rules don't apply to him in certain circumstances, at least not during the moment it's happening, I suppose.

He’s an actor, it’s an awards ceremony, comedians roasting members of the audience has been a thing for ages.

If it’s Dwayne “The Comedian” Jonson up there you think Will Smith smacks him?

What if Chris Rock decided to respond? They start fighting, on stage at the Oscars, because of a bald joke?

Social media has drained the IQ of people if they think this is how you do things.

I don't know what's more absurd, will smith winning an acting award or this deranged animal not getting immediately detained and escorted off by security.

Lmao imagine Ricky Gervais getting punched by anyone when he was hosting the British Award show for his jokes, it would of been unheard of.

But Will Smith does it and theres people defending his actions - over a fucking joke - in the supposed land of free speech.

Clown world.

I'm 6'5 mate. My kids won't be picked by anyone by default. And even if they do, I'll have them find a different solution than become physical. That is NEVER the way to go.
Exactly. Regardless of how kids would react to insults, is the implication supposed to we are supposed to teach our kids if someone hurts their feelings to fight them?

Or was the implication that grown adults should behave like a child would? What a dumb comment.

Crazy to see people going out of their way to defend this action.

Then again, Smith hit a man, so apparently that makes him a hero who is standing up for his family and dealing out a corrective 'tap', so that makes it okay. Words are violence after all.

If it was a female comedian up on stage, making the same joke, getting slapped in the face like that, people would be enraged, demanding for Smith's head to be served on a platter.

He would immediately be banned from the Academy, have his previous awards taken away, be out of work for the next few years and be taken out of that awards show in handcuffs.

Oh and what happened to women being able to stand for themselves? So now toxic masculinity is cool again, over an harmless joke about hair loss at an awards ceremony?

Edit: ^ exactly, if that’s a woman comedian up there then what? Just smack a woman and that’s cool? Oh that’s different ?

That you find this anything other than an amusing display of the shallowness of the media elite is the only thing concerning here.

So, someone says a bad taste joke (maybe it wasn't even Chris who wrote the joke in the first place) and you go and phisically assault the host with a slap in the face?
This is totally unacceptable behaviour from Will no mater what. It's not like he reacted on impulse, he had all the time in the world while we was walking to Chris to reflect on what he was about to do.
Chris behaved like a real professional, kudos to him.
Will should suffer the consequences of this (maybe take the oscar back from him) and also issue a public apology to Chris. Chris should also apology to Will and Will's wife.
I guess that the Russia invasion makes this to look right. You don't like something? Well, resort to violence.

Honestly this is a huge gift to your kids. I am 191cm and no one ever tried to attack me, however my shorter friends, does not really have the same experience. I can't really fight, but as a deterrence it's really awesome. Even tho, CZ have a lot of taller people, it's still enough difference, for people to double think.

So as you said, I also believe that words should never lead to violence.

I am 33 and I have never slapped anyone (well not outside of bed).

Kinky.

Punching people feels great. I started boxing and besides the possibility of ruining my teeth it's a great escape.

I know I'm probably wrong because idk what the motivation would be for either side, but this seems staged to me. The slap itself looks fake as hell

His “wife” broadcast publicly to millions of people that she fucked his son friend multiple times, that she even loved him. She told him that to his face on this public broadcast, made him cry, made HIM apologise to her.

Nah, that's literally a free ticket for it to be open season on your “wife”. Instead of being so concerned about people keep your wife’s name out of their mouth maybe be worry a little more about keeping other men’s dicks out of your wife’s mouth.

I just can't do it, besides, kinky, I am sure that people doing it normally. And I didn't meant it that it's with a lot of force.

Will Smith is clearly insane, by the way. There have been rumours about him for a long time, from being involved in scientology to how he got to be a made man in Hollywood and stuff about his sexuality. A lot of it is quite conspiracy-laden but clearly something weird is going on there. I mean the kids are weird as fuck as well.

She is getting bald. She is not dying or with cancer or something, jesus.

Just wear a wig if it bothers you so much. If she's fine with her shaved head, enough to go bald to the Oscars, then be in peace with it, ffs.

Oscar's jokes have been spicy for a while now. You gotta take the it like a champ.

Quite the weak man is our Will, he should definitely seek some therapy or counselling, that is not the normal behaviour of a man who is well respected and has children.

A real shame, Chris Rock would have had a bit of backlash online if it was left as is and would likely have been cancelled in some form.

On Wills part it drags his family circus into the limelight once more and puts pressure won his kids and family again to keep up appearances. There will be fresh questions about domestic abuse etc.

A real man would have handled this privately, support your wife , speak to Rock on the side and publicly state the joke was close to the line and he will speak to him privately.

It should have been a proud and powerful moment for the Smith family, instead it’s a joke and exposes him to being quite immature.

As a public figure with a huge following and certain influence it’s your duty to respect that and show an example. It’s part of the job.

Bitch move, and a bit of a cheapshot too. MCs go after everyone. He just finished hitting Javier and Penelope, anyone can get it. It's a joke. A tough one? Yes, but it's still a joke. If you're that far up in your feels about it, talk to him after or during a break. It doesn't help that Will's initial reaction was to laugh. Honestly, if their marriage wasn't so publicly messy, there wouldn't be a need for this grandstanding. At least let Chris know you about to serve hands, because maybe his response is a lot different.

This is a irrational thing to do, Will must be completely scrambled from all memes around him which have emasculated him.

If I can’t figure out how to nurture and nourish one extraordinary woman, what the f*** made me think I could care for 25?

Poor Will man, she’s just a ho.

Also further exposes societal double standards.

I think we can all agree that telling someone (and announcing it to the rest of the world while you’re at it as well) that you cheated on them for a prolonged period of time with your sons friend is worse than joking about someone being bald.

Yet if Will had slapped Jada during that show he’d have been arrested and completely shunned from the industry forever.

Yet he slaps Chris Rock for a lesser offence and is allowed to sit down and carry on with the event, in fact WINS an award, gives a long speech and get TWO STANDING OVATIONS.

Pure insanity.

You’re just now observing the fact that a man hitting a woman is viewed differently by society than a man hitting a man?

You'd think that after years of hollywood elitists hopping on the woke train and preaching to people about equality and gender being a social construct, something would have changed by now.

Yet here we are, where physical violence against a man, in public, is rewarded with a golden statue and a standing ovation.

Apparently 'equality' only applies when viewed from one, very narrow, perspective.

Will has been laughing stock for awhile now. Got other dudes boning his wife and living at the house rent free, his son’s friends too. Jada owns his soul.
You do know he is banging other women too right? Him and his wife have an open relationship, they’ve talked about it numerous times. Hell will smith was banging margo robbie for a while there

Seems fake and staged. Watching the slap, Rock was learning forward with his head as if expecting it and didn't react with surprise. Smith's slap looked more like the face and neck and didn't have any power on it.

Of course I'm aware of that, but it the difference is usually one of simple indifference vs one of outrage. Here it's one of celebration vs hypothetical outrage.

Well maybe you look like a boss. You can't obviously stereotype the experience, but I know for a fact that it helped me out of the potentially bad situations.
