Windows 11: Let's Be Honest, There Are Big Issues, Right?

For the last 3 months I erased nearly all third party bloated softwares from Win11. Disabled unnecessary Windows services. Also on startup I just allowed Windows Security and Realtek Sound Drivers on. Disabled rest of them. I also disabled auto windows update between months. Just let it update itself month to month.

I may sound a dick but Win11 found itself. On idle no unnecessary system usage, on gaming mode usage of system goes as expected.

Even though, I wouldn't say no to tailored gaming Windows OS like Steam OS. And it seems we'll probably get or entering that road with the release of Xbox ROG Ally.

I done this a while back I done what I call a blank canvas install which is a fresh install of Windows and a complete stripping what are the unnecessary bloatware and apps that I don't need on my PC. I even remove the edge browser and Microsoft store.

Overtime if I need any of what I removed back, I can put it back on. It will go down to around 66 to 70 odd process on a fresh install.

w11 has drm and bloated with unnecessary things
Regarding bloated unnecessary things, check out this if you already haven't:

This is better:

My biggest issue is that each major update seems to break shit. Where's the QA?

QA team was fired a long time ago. Users and Windows fanboys are normally the QA.

The problem is, and was reported by The Verge, the way Windows do things is in stupidity territory. Their QA consist into asking their user to give BETA a try and send feedback, their feedback site works like a reddit forum.

So, we have a bunch of Windows boot lickers, that will infest the Windows Feedback forum with compliments, while the people that are indeed reporting the bugs/issues receive 'less' [like button], so the problem get unnoticed because the threads talking about how wonderful Windows 11 really is got tons of [like button]. Imagine a forum that will show only topics with the higher amount of 'likes'. This is their feedback.

Thats why I don't engage or even did an account to reddit. All this toxic positivity disguised as a good will sucks, not to mention reddit mods are retarded.

Youtube works in similar way. Coca-Cola AD videos get tons of critics, but got either shadowban or deleted from Google by Coca-Cola orders.

Microsoft is not so different. I was a long time ago a Windows Insider, testing on my desktop the Windows 8 Test Preview and when I send my feedback saying the problems, Microsoft support team answer me saying was my computer the problem, not their Windows 8. Well, everyone knows how Windows 8 ended.

Windows 11 works in the same way, but there is no more Microsoft Support Team to answer any feedback. Everything is automated. Everything pass, either good or bad.

Good thing I'm on the LSCT version.
Being on the Home or Pro version means you are an alpha tester for Windows bugs.
So am I, KB5063878 installed 15 days ago for me, OR I installed it 15 days ago, not sure. probably the latter.
And there is a new cumulative update waiting (I just noticed): KB5064081

I have windows 11 pro, and I can just not update if I don't want to.

there's an update downloaded and ready to install on my PC for weeks, I just don't click on update and shut down, and simply click on the normal shut down button... simple...

Depends on how the updates are configured. It's possible to delay non-security updates for several weeks, which means users are not as exposed to bad updates.
But it's common that Windows just installs updates automatically, without the user consent.

that never happened to me. and I can't see how it could possibly do that tbh.

Just because something never happened to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others.
Plenty of people that got forced Windows updates. Sometimes even major version updates, such as 24H2.

I again can't see how that would even happen.

I have had times where I didn't update for months. I just think people don't know how to properly use the OS... which to me feels like the reason for most of the issues people have

You are not the only person on this planet.
There are plenty of people that got automatically updated.

oooooor... there are plenty of people who have auto updates on, leave their PC on constant standby, or click on the update because they think they have to.

there are still people constantly whining about the search bar doing online searches, but can't be arsed to take the 10 seconds it takes to disable it.

so, I bet this is the same situation here.
I can't even imagine how my PC would auto update with the current settings I have. it's literally inconceivable

Yes, because... Windows 10/11 Home do not really give you much options beyond delay 7 days ontop of the mandatory Automatic Updates.

we aren't talking about Home tho, we are talking about Professional. and there's no way that I can see how Professional forces updates or is able to force updates

That is the problem, that you don't understand. Most people just use Windows default settings, because they don't know any better.
You don't, so you are not affected. But for some strange reason, you think your example, matches everyone else.
The reality is that people like us, that tweak Windows settings, are the exception. Not the rule.

that's entirely unrelated to the original conversation.

you said you're glad you have the LTSC version and not Professional, because you don't want to be a beta tester.

I said Professional doesn't force updates.

...and that's where we are. it doesn't force updates.

But does force updates by default. Only if the user changes settings, does it not.
LTSC, by default only delivers tested and safe updates. No need to configure things.

Ah, totally missed that. I see it now in a few posts. I haven't run Pro or Enterprise long enough to know what is what. I've been on Home since the Home and Pro separation existed, up until Windows 11 when I started using IoT LTSC.

how does that affect you?

it once did, that's why i started delaying updates and eventually switched to ltsc.

"tested" and "safe"

I mean, there's no guarantee that you won't some day get an update that has such a flaw, that slips through the cracks.

So far, i didn't get a single bad update with ltsc.
of course nothing is 100% safe, but its a lot better than Pro and Home versions.

Will the "Windows 11 is fine, hell it's good even" bros stand up and be counted today?

I'm also a Linux pro (and former Apple fanboy), having worked in development scene for many years. And funnily enough I'm also an atheist, one of the other well-known group of pushy people on the planet. I guess I see myself as just a chill ambassador, trying to change the optics of some of the world's more disliked communities :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I do mod my W11 though, I run a tight ship, my install is lean, and of course I mostly only use Powertoys and Command palette / PT Run when navigating Windows.
